I had a little quest this month looking for candy that had an orange wrapper that looked like it might go with Tangerine Tango - Jer's Squares wins! These cute summer dresses rounded out our girlie Mother's Day classes - time to put some jeans on, whew! I made these just like the ones I made here, where you can find some quick instructions. And here are the class instructions - enjoy! Tiny Tags stamp set; Lucky Limeade CS; Floral District DSP; Ovals Collection & Dressed Up framelits; Tangerine Tango & Lucy Limeade inks; Delicate Designs embossing folder; 1/4" satin ribbon in Tangerine Tango. For this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge #38, I decided to try and see how SIMPLE I could go for a change - no layers! It was fun to come up with some alternate image elements that met the sketch suggestions, though I don't think I strayed too far! It was more looking for shapes that might create the same overall silhouette... Make sure you go check out the other awesome creations! Amazing! Oh, Hello, Reason To Smile & Nature Walk stamp sets; Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, So Saffron & Calypso Coral inks; Ovals Collection framelits; Occasions piercing template; self-adhesive Rhinestones; Sent With Love DSP (envelope.) I'm pretty psyched about the color refresh coming up with our new catalog (and with our upcoming new set of In Colors - got a little sneak peek at the demo site!) So I couldn't resist trotting out one of my few hoarded sheets of the returning Soft Sky for this card for Retro Sketches #59! I know some folks think it's too close to Pool Party (which we also get to keep! Yay!) but when you put them side by side, the difference is really quite striking. My hoarded stash is now down to two sheets, so I'm thrilled that fresh supplies are coming soon! ODB Scripture Series 2 & Best of Everything stamps sets; Pink Pirouette, Soft Sky (some kind of weird retired/reviving limbo), Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Elegant Bouquet embossing folder; Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade & Summer STarfruit inks; self-adhesive Rhinestones. So, I've been thinking about Stampin' Up's! 25 year anniversary Convention a lot today - "Be The Difference" is the theme. Registration opens Tuesday, and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. Thinking about it made me feel nostalgic for the only other SU! event I've ever attended - the Phoenix Regional in 2012. My first ever swap won a Shelli's Choice prize (woo, me! I am still smit!) which made me think of this stamp set, which is how I put together today's card for Clean & Simple #236. Was that story too convoluted?? What can I say, I'm a bit distracted with Convention Registration coming up! EEEeeeEEE! Send Me Soaring (retired) stamp set; Pool Party, So Saffron & Whisper White CS; Floral District DSP; Scallop Circles #2 die; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder & Pool Party inks; self-adhesive Jumbo Pearls. I'll be honest - I really struggle with the last release of In Colors, and particularly with this one - Summer Starfruit. So of course, when I saw the color challenge at Fab Friday #16 this week, I was a little worries. Their little honeycomb presentation always makes it LOOK so nice, though, I knew I had to give it a try! So, I paired it up with this week's Retro Sketch #81, and away I went! Not too shabby... Perfectly Preserved & From My Heart stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Sycamore Street DSP; Cannery Set framelits; Calypso Coral ink; Neutrals brads, self-adhesive pearls; 1/4" organdy in Calypso Coral (retired). This week's Retro Sketch #58 is another nifty arrangement of layers and shapes - I LOVE how they do that! For today's attempt, I decided to dust off the ole' teacup image, and play with some of our retiring colors some more. I tried to keep it simple, but then I felt like I hadn't done enough. So I added a touch of fussy-cut flowers. Then some pearls. Then some embossing. See how it goes with me? Tea Shoppe stamp set; Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade & Wisteria Wonder CS; Vine Street embossing folder; Corner Rounder & Modern Label punches; Calypso Coral baker's twine; self-adhesive Pearls. Oh my GOODNESS! I have been playing dress up ALL DAY LONG! Here are the projects I have for next week's class, a Mother's Day theme - uber girlie! We'll be making this cute shadow box insert with 5 different dresses - mine says "Mother," but you could do a different word if you prefer. There's also a coordinating card, that you can put a Happy Mother's Day wish on the inside of, and last, a quick and simple "corsage" of the Creped Filter Paper from the Spring Mini catalog, that has a gift card base to go with. The coolest thing is that you can color your corsage with Color Spritzers in whatever color you want! How cool is that?? So, class is Thursday, April 18, 630 pm, here at Chez Heroldt - RSVP today to save your spot! Can you tell I'm ready for Summer? Open the pool! Bring on the smoothies! Where's my cabana boy?! LOL, this phrase from the "From My Heart" stamp set is pretty much my mantra these days, but I know that summer is just around the bend! Whew. Make sure to check out the other great entries at Paper Craft Crew Challenge #37! From My Heart stamp set; Lucky Limeade, Whisper White & Rich Razzleberry CS; Summer Smooches DSP; Labels Collection framelits; 1/4" stitched grosgrain in Daffodil Delight; self-adhesive rhinestones. And check it OUT! Stampin' Up! has released a second photopolymer stamp set - called "Bombs Away Birthday!" Hilarious! Click on the flyer to get all the deets, $13.95 for a stamp set of 7! Something I really enjoy doing is offering a card class for auction at my church's annual mission fund-raiser, Hearts & Hands. This year's win was by a single person, who brought a group of 8 new crafters - whew! She requested Birthday and Get Well cards, so I designed the cards for the class accordingly, with an eye to keeping things fun and simple, but varied. I also made one treat to match one of the birthday cards, and then supplied the makings for the second treat to go with one of the Get Well cards, though I guess it could also go with the other birthday card, now that I think about it... It was a fun time - great fellowship, creativity and LOTS of love - yay! And of course, yummy snacks - I love using my creme brule torch! For those interested, here is the instruction sheet for this class. OK, time to get crackin' on restocking those scripture cards! I can't stand seeing that big gap in my boxes! By "flipping" this week's Clean & Simple #235, I had a nice wide field for 2 Corinthians 5:17 - yay! What an Easter message! And what an awesome sketch for it - pared down and simple - just like the name says... Take Care & ODB Scripture Series 2 stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze & Naturals Ivory CS; Finishing Touches edgelits; Early Espresso & Old Olive inks; self-adhesive Pearls. |
