Sassy Hearts

Paper Craft Crew #276 has a fun color challenge for us this week - let's give it a whirl with Freshly Made Sketch #320!
I'm always so excited when I see those magic word "any shape," lol, but in the end, I went pretty literal with this sketch. Oops! I have been fascinated with all the "in-laid" elements I have seen on cards lately, and I was itching to try it myself! So, I stuck with the hearts here, but laid in some extra colors - fun! I included some Rose Red tiny hearts in my background, but to my eyes, it doesn't look that different from the Real Red - another oops! Straight-up Valentine for my honey - yay!

Southwestern Wreath

Oo, Merry Monday #273 has a fun "southwestern" color challenge for us - turquoise and red! I'll be using Stamp Ink Paper #133's sketch to help me along!
Looking at the shapes in the sketch, I headed for my retired shelves - check out this blast from the past - Wondrous Wreath! My poor set is so well-loved lol, I'm so pleased it still sticks to my blocks, lol. Might be time for a warm soapy bath, lol! Anyway, I played with a two-tone wreath in red, and turquoise berries. I'm so surprised at how much I like it! A dotty field of turquoise for the background, and a few Cherry sequins completes the job!

Today's pretty sketch is from As You See It #167 - cute! I'm adding in these sweet colors from Global Design Project #121, too!
So, this ended up being a bit of a kitchen sink card - as in "everything but the...?" Lol. It took me a little bit to find elements in the right colors, and make an attempt on cobbling them together. Maybe not my fave combo, lol. I decided to go for the Lovely Words thinlits for the "bubble" shape, and the rest just came along for the ride!

Fab Day

You know what I need today? Another Fabulous day! Thanks goodness it's Fab Friday #129 time!
So, I know it's bitter cold most everywhere else, but here in Arizona, it has been unseasonably warm even for us. I've worn long pants twice so far this winter, and my poor garden doesn't know what to do: I have dying plants with tomatoes on them, hope they can make it to harvest! Just yesterday, I saw a beautiful and bright butterfly snacking on the chili flowers. I suspect he was an escapee from Butterfly Wonderland (we get far more varied butterflies around here since they opened, lol) and I was inspired to feature this stamp, in bold butterfly colors that I don't usually focus on. This will be a great get well card! And hope my winged visitor brings buddies next time!

Super cute landscape sketch on deck for this week's TGIF #142! Let's have some fun!
In my opinion, nothing says fun like this adorable Fortunate to Know You Set. So excited to pull it out again! Today I got to play with the cute little take-out box - this was the image that attracted my attention to begin with - so fun! I decided to go with Chinese New Year's red, and work my way out from there - not done with the fussy cut frenzy yet, either, I guess. I scattered on a few red sequins to finish - I can't believe how attached to those I've gotten - the new Candy Dots! Now I just realized how much like a Valentine's card this looks like , too - might have to go for that later!

What a lovely detailed sketch from Case This Sketch #254! I see fussy cutting fury ahead, lol!
This card gave me the final push I needed to finally ink up my last On Stage set - Lovely Wishes. So often, SU! GIVES us a stamp set at an event that I think would otherwise go unnoticed and perhaps under-appreciated. When I was devouring the new catty, I skipped right over this set, I'll be honest, lol. But hey, free stamps?? Hello?? Sign me up ( for On Stage, that is!) Turns out this is a lovely and beautifully coordinated set. Every aspect has a two-step opportunity, in a sweet shabby-chic effect. While this card was a lot of work (yes, my thumb DID fall off, but it snaps back in place) I am IN LOVE with the finished card. Thank you, SU!, for saving me from my inattention!

Oo, lots of details to play with in this week's Paper Craft Crew #275! In{k}spire Me #333 has a lovely black-gray-plus one color challenge for us, too, that I'm adding in!
For this one, I started by checking out what my "big sentiment" possibilities were, lol. Sorry for Everything leapt right at me, and with the color scheme, I decided to go in a sympathy direction. I tried adding a pop of color - Rose Red today, one I very rarely use, but that looks AMAZING in a black and gray setting! I have a feeling it might come out to play again soon, now! I was also able to use a few of my now-ancient Rose Red Candy Dots - I think I 4 or 5 sheets of just this color - remember what I said about never using it?? I love how this came out, and how well the stamp coordinates with the Petal Passion DSP...

11 Timothy Throwdown

Lots of play room in this week's Freshly Made Sketch #319! It should look awesome in these fun colors from Color Throwdown #475, too!
I couldn't resist the notion of a scripture "throwdown," lol, so we're having a little 11 Timothy 1 today! The card came out exactly how I pictured, with a large sentiment holding down the floating panel, and a bit of Flourish Thinlit detail at the top, all over a light pink floral background. I wasn't able to get quite as off-center as I hoped, but it's still just how I imagined! I even got on a little sparkle, which wasn't in the original plan!

Look what a fun sketch we have at this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge #170! I so hope you can join us! This week I'm adding in Merry Monday #272's "glasses" challenge!
When I thought of yummy holiday tipples, lol, I confess I knew I wanted to pull out my old Making Spirits Bright set - so many fun sentiments in that one! But, I also knew I wanted to include something current, so I chose the sweetly scripted Ready for Christmas sentiment you see now. A bit of old and new together! I also had a fun few minutes fussy cutting my cocktails - I love that kind of detail!

Confetti Cupcake

Try Stampin' on Tuesday is launching a new endeavor - a monthly technique challenge, and they're starting with "negative space coloring." Sounds fun! I'm adding in Stamp Ink Paper #132's "cake walk" challenge to this, too!
So this was a fun little exercise, choosing my "cake," creating the mask, deciding what to add for the background... I kept it fairly simple - I ended up using a sponge brayer to add Lemon Lime Twist to my masked cupcake, then I added some fun confetti in colors I hoped would be bright enough to show. I like the finished effect - this would be a fun way to handle a one-layer challenge, too! And who wouldn't want a chocolate-chocolate cupcake??
