I love the Halloween theme showing at this week's color challenge at In{k}spire Me #170! One stamp I haven't inked yet in my Fall Fest set is the adorable ghost - I decided this was my chance! I decided to try heat-embossing them, and I deliberately used my too-dry ink pad for it to get them a little more raggedy looking. They still look pretty happy to me, though! Now, off to re-ink my Whisper White pad... Fall Fest & Good Greetings Stamp Sets; Whisper Whit, Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie & Basic Black CS; Whisper White Craft & Basic Black Inks; White Embossing Powder; Witches Brew Washi Tape (retired); Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Fun Fall Framelits. The Halloween Horizon keeps expanding with My Pumpkin Challenge #1014 - Sweets & Treats! I am determined to use every scrap of the Boo-tiful Bags kit! After last year's "door wrap" tardis decor on our front door, which I vowed not to do again, grr, we needed something new out front. I decided that a cute little burlap banner would be just the ticket! I only had three bags left from my first kit, so I stretched them to the number of flags I needed for the banner by opening them up and mixing my prints with some plain sides, too. I also wanted the letters to be big and bold, so out came the retired Serif Essentials Alphabet dies. I decided to add a little pop by shadowing the white letters with Tangerine Tango, too - subtle, but it really adds a bit of dimension. I added on some of the cute little stickers from the kit for that little something extra. I never know when to say enough, lol! I'll probably add more sequins when I have a minute, too, lol... Paper Pumpkin Boo-tiful Bags; plus, Tangelo Twist & Whisper White CS; Serif Essential Alphabet Dies; Blackberry Bliss Striped Satin Ribbon; Two-Tone Trim in Tangerine Tango. Christmas Cards Class, Part 2! That's right! Our next class is ready with even MORE Christmas cards, because I was just SO bad with my Holiday Catty purchasing this year! I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to try the full range of holiday delight that Stampin' Up! has brought us this year, lol... Class is still coming up on Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 PM, $20. As always, if you need a different day and time, just let me know and I will make it happen for you! Snacks and treats will be waiting - RSVP today! Pumpkin Club October 25! Did you get your October Pumpkin kit yet? Yummy!! Check out the video here! I really enjoy "tag" layouts, I was so happy to see one at this week's Retro Sketches #136! And since I'm still feeling spooky, I think I'll add in this week's Fab Friday #52's color challenge. I really can't seem to get enough of these cute little pumpkins from Fall Fest - I'm sure because of their framelits. I still have the old two-step set Jack-O-Lantern Fun, too, and I find myself not using it now that I have a photopolymer "version" to turn to! Boo-tiful Bags & Fall Fest Stamp Sets; Modern Medley DSP (retired); Crumb Cake; Tangelo Twist & Very Vanilla CS; Tangelo Twist, Mossy Meadow (shh, it's only the pumpkin stem, sheesh), Basic Black & Vanilla Craft Inks; White Embossing Powder; Tags & Black Twine from Boo-tiful Bags Paper Pumpkin Kit; Fun Fall Framelits. Class is announced for Saturday, October 18 at 3 PM, and Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 PM. As always, if you need a different day and time, just let me know and I will make it happen for you! Snacks and treats will be waiting - RSVP today! Time for more Sweets & Treats with My Pumpkin Challenge #1014! Sorry, no gummy eyeballs this week, I've decided to go sugar-free! I had a blast putting together this cute pin, which can be worn as is, or on a hair-band, maybe. With your trusty hot glue gun in hand, it comes together in a snap! Begin by turning your burlap treat bag of choice inside out - I've found this is the easiest way to snip off those side seams neatly, leaving you with the maximum amount of burlap to play with. Unfold the trimmed bag so that you have one long strip, half of which has the black pattern on it. I also go ahead and un-pick the hem of the bag "flap" for just a tad extra length. Iron your strip so you don't have to deal with any creases. Once I had it ironed, I took a good hard look at my edges, and straightened them with careful trimming. I then cut in half lengthwise, and dosed all cut edges with Fray Check, a sewer's best friend! For this pin, I wanted to show the black dots, so I also snipped off just the patterned part. Once the fray-check was dry, I punched a 1 5/8" circle from Crumb Cake CS to use as my base. I added a healthy blob of hot glue, and began apply my burlap, pressing the pleats into the glue. When it was time to add the second strip, I folded UNDER the ends so it looked more like a continuous ruffle. I glued a button at the center to cover any indiscretions there, and glue-dotted some random sequins for extra sparkle. A pin-back is glued to the back. I threw together a quick card to attach the pin to for gifting. Fun! Paper Pumpkin Boo-tiful Bags; plus, Crumb Cake CS; Brights Button; Blackberry Bliss Ink; Bigz Top Note Die. Also used hot glue and glue dots, and a basic pin-back! Snacks and treats will be waiting - RSVP today! Time for another yummy with My Pumpkin Challenge #1014 - Sweets & Treats! So, Halloween is a pretty big deal in our house - we're that neighbor you live in dread of, with crazy decor and motion-activated spooky noises and jumping spiders, crawling hands...you get the idea! And wait'll you see our latest addition, an 8 foot black and white stripey spider with a light-up butt! He's hanging over our front door - my goal is to get to keep ALL the candy this year because the kids will be too scared to come to the house, lol... Anyway, we also started with our after-school spooky treats this week (gummy eyeballs, anyone?) and I decided a little grave-yard humor (yuk-yuk) was in order! I thought the pretty curvy tag could look just like a headstone when upright like this, and swooshing bats are are just the right finishing touch! Hint: make your bat trajectory by slicing off a 1/4" strip from one of your window sheets, bend one end under your box lid (I used the new Tiny Treat Boxes) give it a twist, and afix the other end under the other side. Adding the twist lets the bats show from the front and flutter all over! Paper Pumpkin Boo-tiful Bags; plus Tiny Treat Box; Seriously Amazing dot stamp; Basic Black, & Blackberry Bliss Inks; Googly Eyes; Blackberry Bliss Marker; Window Sheet Scrap. Check out this week's In{k}spire Me #167 - a Halloween-Fall Challenge! Love it! Seems like a perfect time to trot out my Fall Fest stamp set again, and really play with Jack-O-Lanterns this time - don't they look like they're all singing spooky songs together? Those matching framelits really make it all come together a "treat," lol. Hoo, I crack myself up... This was the perfect mood setter for getting out all our Halloween decor today, including the giant 8 foot spider with flashing red eyes that's our new addition this year! He's hanging over the eaves atop the front door - with any luck, the kiddies will be so scared we'll get to keep ALL the candy this year! Fall Fest & Good Greetings Stamp Sets; Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist & Very Vanilla CS; Tangleo Twist, Mossy Meadow & Basic Black Inks; Woodgrain Embossing Folder; Fun Fall & Bitty Banner Framelits; Corner Rounder Punch; Stitched Satin Ribbon in Mossy Meadow. Ooo, I'm so excited about this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #1014 - Sweets & Treats! We're going to have so much fun with this one! So, my kit barely came in time for me to play along this week - whew, it was cutting it close for sure. I was so happy to see my kits, I decided I needed a card to celebrate! Tips: you should probably open your kit up and lay out your burlap treat sacks to air out a bit - burlap likes to breathe a little, lol! I decided to cut one up to run through my Big Shot with a framelit - worked like a charm - just carefully pull away the scrap, in case any of the threads don't quite cut through all the way. The new Fast Fuse adhesive works a total treat for gluing the fabric down to the card stock, and then for attaching a tag to the top - perfect! I made the Tangelo Twist layer by tracing AROUND the framelit and hand cutting the shape! Paper Pumpkin Boo-Tiful Bags; plus, Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss & Tangelo Twist CS; Basic Black Ink; Filigree Frame Embossing Folder; Apothecary Accents Framelits; Corner Rounder Punch; Fast Fuse Adhesive. I love the tag in the layout of this week's Freshly Made Sketch #155! And look at that - Nacho Average Challenge #108 has given me a spooky color scheme to play with too - yeah! So, conveniently, the Merry Everything set actually has a Halloween tag - excellent! Now to dress it up a bit! Notice that I brushed a bit of white craft ink over my spider web emboss to help it pop a bit more. I had to add that bit of black, too, but I think that'll be ok, lol! Merry Everything Stamp Set; Moonlight DSP Pack; Whisper White, Basic Black, Mossy Meadow & Tangelo Twist CS; Whisper White Craft, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss & Basic Black Inks; Banners Framelit Dies; Note Tag & Bitty Bat (retired) Punches; Spider Web Embossing Folder (retired); Basic Jewel Rhinestones, colored with Pumpkin Pie Blenda. Oo, check out the dramatic layout at this week's Nacho Average Challenge #107! Hm, their sketch colors are putting me in mind of something... ...Halloween! Yes! In just a couple weeks I get to start putting out the spooky decor, and I need some more cards for the hall table of course! So, I finally get to use my fun new Fall Fest set - which has its own framelits, of course! Bwa-ha-ha-ha! Good Greetings & Fall Fest Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Basic Black, Old Olive & Pumpkin Pie CS; Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive Inks; Fun Fall Framelits. Pumpkin Club September 27! I wanted to share a quick picture of this simple little pumpkin patch I put together for favors for our "Welcome" banner class last night - so much fun! These are all made from the Round Tab punch (is this retired now?) with a little stem of grosgrain and a few leaves added. I did a range of colors for fun, too: Pumpkin Pie (of course!), Tangerine Tango and Cajun Craze. Thanks, Brenda for our fancy cupcakes, as well - cute AND yummy! Here are last night's Welcome Banner class instructions, such as they are, as well - enjoy! |
