I'm so excited to be guesting this month with Christmas Craft Creations for their October challenge - monochromatic! As soon as I saw the beautiful Cherry Cobbler sheet in our special release Traditions of St. Nick DSP, I SO knew I'd be featuring out Saint Nicholas bundle! I so love these old-time Santa images and fonts! This fireside scene on the DSP is straight out of The Nutcracker in my mind, lol. Anyway, I did a simple background for the gift-bearing St. Nick, and smudged both he and the fancy sentiment up with a Blender Pen. Some Cherry Cobbler twine and dots and I was good to go! I can't wait to see YOUR monochrome Christmas projects, too - see you at the challenge! Saint Nicholas Stamp Set; Traditions of St. Nick DSP; Basic White & Cherry Cobbler CS; Cherry Cobbler Ink; Saint Nicholas & Countryside Corners Dies; Cherry Cobbler Heavy Baker's Twine; Cherry Cobbler Matte Dots; #CCCOct23Monochrome. Yes! Time for another "anything goes" challenge at Retro Rubber #217! Let's go crazy! I have another one from the vault for you today - this is Old Fashioned Christmas from 2000! I swear that visiting stash has so many cuties in it, it has been SO fun to play with! I was tempted by the jolly Santa in this set, but really, when you're in the mood to color, there's nothing like a decked-out traditional Christmas tree, lol. It was a moment thinking about what coloring tools there were back when this set came out - thank goodness for my Blends! With all that coloring, I kept the layout and design pretty basic! I can't wait to see YOUR retro projects - what's in the vault for you? Meet you at the challenge! Old Fashioned Christmas Stamp Set (retired 2000); Basic White & Old Olive CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Real Red Inks; Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Boho Blue, Moody Mauve, Real Red & SU700 Blends Markers; Deckled Rectangles Dies; Gold Sequins; #RRCB217. I'm so excited about Shopping Our Stash #506's challenge this round - it's called "color me beautiful," and they want us to use our favorite coloring technique! Yes! I decided today would be another good day to pull out a set from my new "vintage" stash, lol - today I have 2001's Holiday Hedgehogs! These are a dream to color, and so I got to show off my favorite - Blends Markers! I used to be super into water-painting, and I still like that, too, but I turn almost exclusively to the Blends these days - I just love them! I did this simple layout with my old Plaid Tidings DSP, all in Rectangle Stitched layers, and went to town, lol. I couldn't resist dressing the finished card up with my newly arrived Loose Holly Gems & Sequins, too - just a little shine! Holiday Hedgehogs (retired 2001); Plaid Tidings (retired); Basic White & Shaded Spruce CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Crumb Cake, Shaded Spruce, Real Red & Petal Pink Blends Markers; Loose Holly Gems & Sequins; #SOS506. Excellent - The Library Challenge #85 has another new-to-me title for us - October, October! Beautiful cover - off to check this out! Well, drat, I think this title is too new to have made it to the library yet, and I don't see a kindle edition yet either, lol. I'll have to figure something out! In the meantime, my Winter Owls bundle arrived JUST in time to make an appearance for this card! I chose a dramatic background from the O Holy Night DSP, and pieced together the extra wingspan on this beautiful owl for the corner - love it! I went with this sentiment from the stamp set, and did everything in Copper Clay to go with the paper and mimic the coloring of the lettering on the cover. I think the book has me beat, but I was so thrilled to have this one for breaking in my new set! Winter Owls Stamp Set; O Holy Night DSP; Basic White & Copper Clay CS; Copper Clay Ink; Winter Owls Dies; Copper Clay Glossy Dots; #TLC85. Our theme for the month of October at Sparkles Christmas Challenge #153 is Christmas flowers! I think I can pull it off with our lovely colors at Sunday Stamps #319, too! I know these look more like Fall, but I had a blast translating them into this cool and calm Christmas card! I pulled the little poinsettia from our Ringed With Nature stamp set, and did a couple in Merry Merlot, plus one more in Moody Mauve, then added details in Wild Wheat. I layered up some embossed Boho Blue over Merlot for my background and finished with a few clear Wonderful Gems for a little sparkle. I'm really pleased with how this came out, I wasn't sure it would, lol. And I didn't have to add any Pale Papaya (my choice for the last color, lol) to do it! I can't wait to see YOUR awesome projects for BOTH these challenges! Meet you there! Ringed With Nature Stamp Set; Basic White, Merry Merlot (retired) & Boho Blue CS; Merry Merlot (retired), Moody Mauve & Wild Wheat Inks; Timeworn Type EF; Wonderful Gems; #SCC153; #SSC319. So pretty - In{k}spire Me #515 has such a great combo for us this round - Fall colors AND a cool sketch! After lots of dithering, I finally got through it with this card. I'm afraid I strayed farther than I usually do, lol. It happens sometimes when an order of new stamps comes in - I get all distracted by my new toys! The first thing to go was the colors - I just really wanted to make a Christmas card today! I'm also not sure about my design, but I swear I started with the sketch! My pretty "Joyous" tag turned out larger than I thought, lol, so I just rolled with it. I did figure out how to bring the bow from the twine wrap up through the tag hole - I love how that worked out! I finished with a few Pretty Peacock sequins that I think look more like Shaded Spruce - shhh... Joy of Noel Stamp Set; Joy of Christmas DSP; Basic White & Shaded Spruce CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Versamark Inks; Simmer White EP; Joy of Noel & Tailor Made Tags Dies; Braided Linen Trim in Real Red; Sequins Trio; #IMC515. What a beautiful theme at AAA Cards #249 this round - skies, galaxies and planets! I have just the thing! So, I thought at first I was going to trot out my beloved Reach For The Stars suite, but then I finally got a chance to sort through my new O Holy Night DSP - WOW! There are several sheets of gorgeous starry papers, so I switched it up at the last second! I hope I have enough white space here, but I hated to cut that gorgeous DSP down anymore than this, lol. I floated a lovely holiday sentiment over it from the coordinating Night Divine set, and finished with a few tiny rhinestones. Just love it all! Night Divine Stamp Set; O Holy Night DSP; Basic White CS; Night of Navy Ink; Layering Ovals Dies (retired); Rhinestone Basic Jewels; #AAA249. Woo hoo! It's tic-tac-toe time again at this round's Retro Rubber #216! I had to study this one for a while, lol. Fortunately, I just came into a stash of vintage SU! stuff that I'll be re-homing, and my adventures sorting through it all yielded some real gems! I ended up going with patterned paper-your choice-circles, with my choice being Christmas! I couldn't resist when I spotted this DSP from way back when I FIRST started with SU! So much nostalgia! I pulled out two circle sheets from the Dashing DSP pack from 2006, and did up a simple layered layout. 2006's Circle of Friendship seemed a natural fit, so I layered that up a bit, too, and gave it a little ribbon sash, lol. Quick, cute and fun, just how I remember, lol. I can't wait to see how YOU play our game this round - meet you at the challenge! Circle of Friendship Stamp Set (retired 2006); Dashing DSP (retired); Very Vanilla & Real Red CS; Real Red Ink; 1 1/4" & 1 1/2" Circle Punches; Faux Linen Ribbon in Real Red; Rhinestone Basic Jewels; #RRCB216. Christmas Craft Creations has a Metallics challenge for September! I think I still have yesterday's brights on the brain, because I immediately thought of the new foils I got with the Merry Bold & Bright suite! The foils have sheets of both Melon Mambo AND Granny Apple Green! This gave me a chance to play more with a few of the Merry & Bright elements I haven't had out yet, too. I thought the filament die was super cute to add to my foil bulbs, and I tried the stamped strand this time - so cute! I couldn't resist the "fun" sentiment, this was so fun to play with! Merry & Bright Stamp Set; Basic White & Shaded Spruce CS; Melon Mambo & Granny Apple Green Foils; Shaded Spruce & Melon Mambo Inks; Merry & Bright Dies; Iridescent Discs; #CCCSep2023. Perfect - we have a lovely layered sketch this round at As You See It #308! All these layers made me think of some bright and bold DSP, so I naturally turned to my Merry Bold & Bright pack, lol. I am loving pairing this with the Festive & Fun critter set, too! Today I went with my pudding-bearing moose and the little beaver - the last two I haven't stamped yet! So much fun to color! I had to shift my sentiment upwards a bit so I could still show off those awesome moose antlers, but it's all good, lol. This card makes me smile so much! I can't wait to see what YOU do with our fun sketch - the sky's the limit! Meet you at the challenge! Festive & Fun Stamp Set; Merry Bold & Bright DSP; Basic White & Shaded Spruce CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Versamark Inks; Shimmer White EP; Pebbled Path, Pecan Pie, Crumb Cake, Real Red & Shaded Spruce Blends Markers; Iridescent Discs; #AYSI308.
