Think I'll pink up this week's Freshly Made Sketch #147 with the girlie color challenge at this week's Sunday Stamps #81! In a rare twist, I also went "stamp-less" this time! We have so many cute little phrases in our flip card thinlet sets - why do I never use them more? Time to make a change! I also found some pretty old retired DSP in my Pink Pirouette scrap stash that I decided to use - had to go back to the 2009 Idea Book & Catalog to find it, lol. I guess that shows how little I use pinks! Pink Pirouette, Strawberry Slush & Very Vanilla CS; Candy Lane DSP (retired); Circle Card Thinlets; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; PL Corner Rounder Punch; Subtles Button in Pink; Thick Baker's Twine in Strawberry Slush. Check out the cool "rayed" layout at this week's Retro Sketch #125! I could sure use some more practice at these! Today's card started for me with the DSP - what patterns had small enough elements that I could chop them up for this layout, but still had enough drama to stand out? I found my answer in Gold Soiree! This is definitely some nifty paper - the touches of gold are so rich - and exclusive to this DSP! All the papers have a little gloss to them, like a seriously high-quality wrapping paper maybe... It all looks so yummy together, and that is SO not something I thought I'd ever say about Garden Green! The color palette in this collection just might make a believer out of me, lol... Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 5 Stamp Set; Gold Soiree Specialty DSP; Garden Green, Crisp Cantaloupe & Whisper White CS; Garden Green & Calypso Coral Inks; Circles Collection & Window Frames Collection Framelits; Regals Candy Dots in Garden Green. Time for one last round of parties at My Pumpkin Challenge #0714 - Celebrate! So, I finally got around to that spinner card I promised back at our last Pumpkin Club - how could we have such an awesome pinwheel kit and not make them spin on a card?? I also decided to play with my card shape on this one - and use my envelope punch board to make a custom envelope for it - not that I'll ever mail this beauty, lol... This is definitely destined to join my seasonal hall table decor! Rather than go back over the basic directions for a spinner here, you can go to this link for a Christmas card class we did an age ago, that had a spinning ginger bread man, lol... But here are the extra notes for this card: My card base is 6" x 6", folded in half for a 3" x 6" finished base. For the pinwheel, I cut down the basic pinwheel shape by an inch on all sides, to make it small enough for a card. As it is, it still wants to hang over the card edge when it spins, but that's ok since you have to be holding it up to tilt it back and forth anyway, lol... After you adhere all your spinning apparatus, bend your pinwheel wings up slightly, so it has enough clearance to spin freely... Make sure to get your last Pumpkin Celebrations in - I can't wait to see your creations! Paper Pumpkin Pinwheel Party; plus, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Real Red Ink; Word Window Punch; DSP Paper Stack in Real Red (retired, for envelope.) Wow, Clean & Simple #300 is a BIG milestone! Think that influenced this week's sketch, lol? Think I'll pair this one with In{k}spire Me #157's elegant colors... In keeping with this week's awesome achievement, I decided a big 'ole cangrats was in order! I love the over-sized sentiments in our new Bravo set - and they made answering this challenge a snap. Honestly, I spent more time "conditioning" my stamp then making this card, lol. Thanks for the awesome challenges, ladies, and congrats on your achievement! Here's to the next 300! Bravo & Wish Big Paper Pumpkin Stamp Sets; Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate & Whisper White CS; Rose Red, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate & Pink Pirouette Inks; 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain in Basic Gray. I'm so excited to share what I created for this week's Freshly Made Sketch #146! I have NO idea what sent me in this direction, but looking at the finished card makes me laugh like a loon. I'm totally taking this along for hubby on our end-of-summer camping trip, lol! My idea of relaxing camping is a stack of crosswords I save for a few weeks, a fully-loaded and -charged Kindle, a comfie chair (preferably purple) and chilled adult beverages. Maybe with a straw. HIS idea of ideal camping is slogging around in the water all day with a fishing pole. Getting sunburned. And waterlogged shoes. To each their own. I think this will make a perfect afternoon welcome "home!" Simply Celebrate, Alphabet Rotary & The Great Outdoors Stamp Sets; Soft Suede & Whisper White CS; Park Lane DSP; Soft Suede, Old Olive & Blackberry Bliss Inks; Aqua Painter. Wow, Nacho Average Challenge is getting close to their 100th challenge! Better do my warm up with this week's Nacho Average Challenge #99, which has sure some cool angles! I got to indulge so many of my faves today, starting right in with a Rich Razzleberry - Old Olive combo! Green and purple just makes me SO happy! This let me play with one of my favorite DSPs this year, too, Sweet Taffy. I just love all the bright combos on Whisper White! I think I got Vanilla'ed out last year, sigh... And I also got to break in a new stamp set - Well Worded. True to form, the stamp I got this set for is no where on this card, lol, yes, I got it for the mustache! I'll get to it soon - maybe hubby's birthday in October?? Well Worded & Flamingo Lingo Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry & Daffodil Delight CS; Sweet Taffy DSP; Old Olive & Rich Razzleberry Inks; 5/8" Grosgrain in Old Olive & 1/4" Grosgrain in Rich Razzleberry; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; Bitty Banner Framelits. This week's Merry Monday #118 is a fun one - ribbons and buttons! I decided that it was also a good time to share a little bit of happy news - I've gotten a sneak peek at the Holiday Mini (of course!!) and I am SO HAPPY to tell you that Stampin' Up! has brought something back - yes! The Endless Wishes photopolymer stamp set, that sold out in about 4 days last year, is getting a revival - it's actually IN the upcoming Holiday Catty! Woo hoo! Gee, that makes me "Be Of Good Cheer!" Yay! We'll be returning to our regularly scheduled classes in August, and our first class back will be Christmas Cards, so we can all get started - I can't wait for you to see this catalog! Endless Wishes Stamp Set (out of retirement!); Smoky Slate, Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Smoky Slate, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz & Basic Black Inks; Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon; Subtles Button in Pool Party. Oo, look at the fun layers on this week's Retro Sketch #124! Today's the day I get to finally use the set Ray of Sunshine for what I got it for - the cool sun options! While it looks like a lot of pieces, this card actually came together in a pinch - no kidding, 15 minutes! I found some sunny DSPs for my layers, and the sun is all punches - ba-da-bing, ba-da-boom! A tip on the sun's "rays:" after you place your first four, start aligning the next ones with their opposite on the other side of the sun's face. You can slide them in or out as needed to make everything stay proportional! Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set; Whisper White & So Saffron CS; Sweet Taffy & Park Lane DSP; Hello Honey, Crushed Curry & Tuxedo Black Memento Inks; 1 5/8" Circle & Banner Punches; Banners Framelits; 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Crushed Curry. I knew as I saw this wide open field in this week's Sunday Stamps #80 that I needed to find a color challenge to match it with - and Fab Friday # 46 came along to save the day! As I got to poking around trying to decide what to do with this combo, I realized that for two of the colors in this challenge, I have Blendas - guess that means it's time for me to actually try my hand at coloring an image with them now! Since I just got Bloom With Hope, one of our awesome new Hostess sets, in a shipment last week, I thought maybe one of these flowers would be a good place to start. I also hoped that the pen-and-ink style of the images might help obscure any Blenda-Blunders I might make, too! Turns out, I was worried over nothing - SO easy to use! And no penalties for going back and dabbling more and more! The paper is still totally smooth - no pilling or bubbling like happens sometimes with aqua-painters... Just make sure to give your ink layer 30 seconds or so between layers once in a while - the ink continues to blend and smooth as the alcohol continues to evaporate. It's hard to photograph how much more depth my colored image has now. I'll definitely be doing more with these yummy pens! (And check out those rhinestones I colored, too! Woo hoo!) Bloom with Hope Stamp Set; Basic Black, Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Daffodil Delight & Coastal Cabana Blendability Markers; PL Corner Rounder Punch; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. This scatter of shapes in Clean & Simple #299 is JUST my style! I'm just not going to do circles - you know how I am! A quick browse of alternate shapes brought me to my Mosaic Madness set - I thought these could look really graceful in a little sweep across the card, and I could mix up the textures a bit with them. Since there's also a variety of sizes, they really were perfect. Decided to please myself on colors today, too - except for the Early Espresso in the sentiment and little trefoils, which I "stamped off," I went through my faves in the Subtles collection. Yummy! Mosaic Madness & Another Thank You Stamp Sets; Pool Party, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron, Perfect Plum & Pear Pizzazz Inks; Mosaic Punch; Basic Jewel Jumbo Rhinestones (retired) & Rhinestones.
