A Retro Hooray

Look at the pretty cascade of shapes in this week's Retro Sketch #141! I think I'll match it with the equally pretty plums at this week's Sunday Stamps #89! I love purple!
I decided to pull out A Happy Hooray - I really want to use it more! I'm so fascinated by the little feather-like shape, and I've only inked it up one other time - yikes! This sketch seemed to lend me some possibilities...
Surprisingly, the two different purples aren't THAT evident in ink. The cardstock is very visible, and the two I stamped on the envelope show the diff a little, but the cascade is a little harder to discern. On the other hand, I really like the depth it adds. A little bling, and we're good to go!

Pumpkin Trees

How shall we give it pretty this week, at My Pumpkin Challenge #1114? Let's play with our triangle box, ok?
I started out by thinking about what other triangular elements I have around. Of course, this year's tree punch sprang immediately to mind! Then, since I couldn't pick which greens to use, I decided to just use them all, lol - see how I think?? I do that for dessert, too, btw...
So I punched out a bunch of trees, then decided they needed a little something, so every color got its own emboss. Then I just started arranging and playing with dimensionals, too. I really like how it came out! I tied around some yummy ribbon, and added one lonely un-embossed tree for the tag - ta da! Maybe I'll go back and add some red dots, hmm...

Spread Your Cheer! Christmas Packaging Class Dec 20!
OK, everyone knows that November is my CRAZY month, but, we still have time to squeeze in our next class! This fun class is all about the prezzies, baby! This week's Create With Connie & Mary #329 looks perfect to pair with Just Add Ink's #240 - Add Texture!
So, I've been trying to wean myself off making Christmas cards lately, especially with the craft show so close, but DANG, it's so hard when there are SO MANY totally awesome Christmas stamps this year! Argh! So today I gave in to the urge, lol. I had a lot of fun trying to think in terms of the textures: the pebbled Decorative Dots, the rough shimmer CS, the silky ribbon, the smoother heat embossed dots. Just a fun and tactile card, I think. And also fun to play with a wreath in unusual colors. Good times!

Love the layout this week at In{k}spire Me #173! A very refined sketch!
So, later on this week, unbelievably, Bug turns 15. Freak me out! I need to get busy on some birthday card drafts ASAP, lol, so I figured I'd start here. I actually really like this one. Nothing too crazy in the color department (too bad, emo-girl, I'm so sorry we've always called you Pumpkin Pie, but it's too late now) and the sentiment is vaguely anglophile for my serious Dr. Who fan. Maybe. Is that one a stretch? Snicker. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm totally excited to match up this week's Nacho Average Challenge #115 & Fab Friday #54! I declare them made for each other, lol!
This one wound up being another tough one for me. I really wanted to make something autumnal-ish, and I knew I hadn't used this Truly Grateful set in forever. It was so hard to get something close to what I had in mind! I do love that the little mini background stamp seemed to be just right for this sketch, though - up to me to squeeze in those splashes of color! What, you don't have purple acorns by you? That's so sad...

I really like the clean lines and "corner interest" in this week's Freshly Made Sketch #162!
It's such a relief to not be bound by a color challenge on this card, lol, so I opted for simple and natural! This cute hostess set, Nuts About You, was a MUST have when I first saw the catty, but I really haven't used it enough, of course! I had to actually look up some opossum coloring ideas, too much!
The sentiment is much appreciated around here, too. Things are so crazy hectic as we gear up for all the end-of-year stuff!

Oo, I really like the tilty panels at this week's Mojo Monday #371! Time to show off some DSP!
I feel like I haven't pulled out my shrinking Moonlight DSP Pack in a while - have I? Argh, it's blurring together! In any event, I love all these fun papers, especially the ones with the splashes of Blackberry Bliss, yum! I decided to pair it today with this sentiment from Perfect Pennants - it's one I need today as I struggle with internet and computer issues, grr. Let's just say it hasn't been my finest hour this morning (or is it three hours? Again, I'm so confused! This stuff always makes my brains leak out, lol!)

Retro Hanukkah (& Spread Your Cheer Class!)

Look at all the lovely layers at this week's Retro Sketch #140! I think I might have to pare it down a little, lol...
I was shocked to realize that I have not made a single Hanukkah card yet this year - what the hey?! It's not like I didn't get the beautiful new stamp from this year's Holiday Catty! I admit I harbored secret plans to also use it for a Halloween card, but that actually never happened... Whew!
So it seemed like a return to my beautiful All Is Calm DSP was also in order - it has been such an inspiring color palette for me this year! Enjoy!

Tiny Pumpkin Treat Box

Hey, fellow Pumpkin-Heads! (You know I say that with love in my heart, right?) We're still Giving It Pretty at this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #1114!
And this week is all about how much my hubby loves me. I mean REALLY loves me! Earlier this week, he actually took me to a special dinner, at Lon's at the Hermosa Inn, for the kick-off of their Artist-In-Residence dinners with none other than Aarti Sequeira! EEEeeeEEE! That's right, my lovelies, I had dinner with Aarti Paarti on Sunday! It was like a dream, like Lon's isn't fab enough on its own, right? What a joy-filled, genuine and beautiful person she is! Her love for Christ just beams out of her, too. Yes, I totally got her brand new cookbook, too, Aarti Paarti: An American Cookbook With an Indian Soul, and she even signed it for us - woo hoo! I was totally star-struck, giggle. And I have next week's menus all planned out from the book already, too! Even breakfast! Totally making some of the dishes we had at Lon's - she makes it easy!
So, I had to show hubby how much I appreciate him loving me so much - and got him an awesome golf day at The Boulders - symbolized by the golf ball I squeezed into this cute little box with the tee-time rez in the bottom. I love you, honey! You're so awesome! (And no one tell him that the golf ball is one of those exploding-confetti gag balls, ok? He'll prolly figure it out! Maybe.)

Just Add Scallops

OK, looks like it's going to be color challenge WEEK for me this week - I have 4 so far! I do really like the inclusion of gold in this one from Just Add Ink #239, though, very posh!
So, as the poster girl of sketch challenge addicts, I find color challenges tough. I almost ALWAYS pair them with a sketch, since in the heat of the moment, I tend to come up crickets, lol. Don't think I'm going to get that chance this week as much as I would like, since the stars seem to have aligned for everyone to be on their color rotations in my new challenge pursuits.
So here's a little secret: when I'm caught short, I will often make my own "custom" DSP, and use the color challenge to dictate what the background papers look like. That's sorta what happened today, except I've had this dang Striped Scallop Thinlet die sobbing on my desk for an embarrassing length of time. So I just played. And then dug out the wax paper, lol, and played some more. OK, so how cool is it that this die basically lets you make up your own interlocking puzzle pieces? In the end, I had to force myself to throw out all my little leftover bits and bobs - it was worse than the old Lattice die! I had originally intended the color placement to look more random, but somehow that didn't happen. Still love it, though!
