 Goodness, have you seen the design team ideas over at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #161? Gorgeous! Can't wait to play! So I've had the beautiful Gentle Peace stamp set sitting on my desk for several weeks now, and I have SO wanted to use it! Today is that chance, whew! Besides just how awesome the stamp set itself is, and that it's the amazing crisp and sticky photopolymer, what I like best about this set is that it's a "coloring" stamp, lol. Love it! Can you tell I hope someone gets me a grown-up coloring book for Christmas? Hint: I know turning shapes on their heads is one of my favorite things, but today I stayed as true as I could to the sketch - the tiled background of the main image makes it SO easy to fit into whatever layout you need! Just trim to match the space available! Wow, lots of fun elements to play with at this week's Mojo Monday #370, but again, how to make sense of all the shape choices?! This seems to be my week for weird colors and shapes, lol. I know I'm really pushing the envelope here, trying to use elements that I thought I loved when I got them, and then haven't used as much as I should - does this happen to anyone else? Please say that it does! In my case, I just HAD to have these funny feather shapes in A Happy Hooray. Have they seen ink before today, though? NOPE! I love the landscaped lines at this week's Retro Sketch #139! However, fitting the layers together has been quite the challenge! Goodness, I went round and round with this one. I have even debated whether I wanted to show it, lol, but finally I figured, well, maybe folks want to hear, hey, sometimes I have a hard time making it work, too! Now, there's no way I'll admit how many times I ripped this card apart, and moved stuff around, and switched colors, etc, BUT, I did definitely get to something I think I can live with! Hm, perhaps I need to put my trust a little higher up, huh? This month we're all about the pretty little package, lol, at My Pumpkin Challenge #1114 - Give It Pretty! So, I have to admit, I'm pretty intrigued by the possibilities of these cute "pie-shaped" boxes that came in this month's Paper Pumpkin. How could I not love a kit called "Sweet As Pie?" I think the colors are a bit intimidating - there's almost TOO MUCH choice, lol, not something I'd ever have thought I'd say! So I decided to take a bright alternative, and go all Strawberry Slush, all the time! I think it really brightens things up, and the cute box is the perfect size for a snack and a gift card for one of our teachers! Hint: The Stretch Ruffle Trim is prefect for tying closed the box without using anything I have to rip through to get into it - yay! I have long admired the powerhouse team over at Create With Connie & Mary, so I wanted to try out their sketch challenge finally: getting going with some lovely layered elements at CCMC327! Since the weather is finally cooling off here in AZ, I decided to do some "weather" cards, lol. I have a different relationship with rain clouds than usual I think: around here, a little rain is a happy event! That's why I gravitated towards this cute stamp set "Think Happy." The little clouds and raindrops read HAPPY to me - weird, I know! The sketch's elements allowed me to really show off the stamped elements in the right sizes today, something I've found a bit challenging with this stamp set... Loving these off-kilter angles, too... So of course the great set to use with this sketch is Starburst Sayings - all those coordinating circles give me a lot of material here. The only question was color scheme, so I picked out some patterns from Gold Soiree that I haven't used yet and went from there. Sorry, I was in a fussy-cut mood today! You know you have it bad when you have to slice up your dimensionals into 5 or 6 little slivers, lol... Hint: I used the Banner Framelit to create my flag, but I threaded the top edge of the paper OVER the framelit so I could make it just a tad longer!
