OK, I'll just throw this out there - I know my interpretation of this week's Retro Sketch #79 is a little off the rez for me, lol! This idea just struck me in the car on the way to church on Sunday. I think I was thinking my Grandma, who taught me how to "draw" ribbons this way, to make them look all twisty, and I thought, you could make seaweed look like that, too, since you have such a cool fish stamp set... And then you could WATERCOLOR! That was it, I was sold. The seaweed is randomly hand-drawn, and aqua-painted with all my various weedy-looking greens, which were out anyway for the fish! Perfectly Penned & By The Tide stamp sets; Pool Party, Always Artichoke & Naturals Ivory CS; Black Staz-On, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist & Old Olive inks; Corner Rounder punch; Basic Jewel Pearls.

For this week's Clean & Simple #256, I knew I wanted to try out one of the cute little phrase thinlets from the new Circle Card sets - so COOL! They are perfect paired with Gorgeous Grunge, I think... I wanted to do this card on a patterned base, so I went through my stash of Specialty DSP for this one, and that dictated my color scheme - even though the DSP is long retired, STILL one of my favorite color suites, sigh... Gorgeous Grunge stamp set; Old Olive & Very Vanilla CS; Autumn Spice Specialty DSP (retired - my very last piece, sob!); Circle Card Thinlets; Old Olive, Crushed Curry & Cajun Craze inks; Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch. Woo, here's a tough one from Paper Craft Crew #57 this week! So many pieces to play with! I kinda had to roll out the kitchen sink on this one, but this is turning out to be one of my fave color combos - I keep coming back to it when I get stumped! So fun to pull out all the cute little detail accessories we have this year, too - sweet! Chalk Talk & Create A Cupcake stamp sets; Pear Pizzazz, Crushed Curry & Very Vanilla CS; Afternoon Picnic DSP; Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, Coastal Cabana & Wisteria Wonder inks; Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding Ribbon; Boutique Details embellishments; Chalk Talk, Hearts A Flutter & Bitty Banner framelits; 1 3/8" Circle Punch; Lacy Brocade embossing folder. Can you tell what my shape inspiration is for this week's My Pumpkin Challenge #913 - "Shapes?" Woo - triangles!! When I saw all those little Rose Red triangles in this month's kit, all I could think of was a stream of pennants on a sailboat line - crisp and breezy, baby! I ended up using my dressmaker's curve to help get the sail shape, it came together in a snap. I've always wanted to learn how to sail, but this might be as close as I get, lol! August 2013 Paper Pumpkin - Pedal Praise; plus, Soft Sky, Early Espresso & Whisper White CS; Island Indigo & Soft Sky inks; Island Indigo Baker's Twine (from the Tag A Bag kit!); YNS Puffy Cloud die set (shh...); Corner Rounder Punch. Looky, looky! Another chance to combine two sketch challenges at once! This week's combo is a union of Sunday Stamps #57, a color challenge, and Freshly Made Sketches #101! I seem to have Pumpkin on the brain still, too, but I couldn't help it - the banner from Pedal Praise goes in the right direction for this card, so it's totally not my fault! I HAD to use it! A little more black and vanilla with little splashes of color, but still, these sketches go great together, I think! (Yes, I did break down and put the little bike inside, too! Don't look, Jesse!) Pedal Praise stamp set; Basic Black, Very Vanilla & Melon Mambo CS; Modern Medley DSP; Cherry Cobbler ink; Very Vintage Designer Buttons; Black Perle Cotton thread; Pretty Print embossing folder; Neutrals Candy Dots; 1" Square Punch for "flagging" the banners. What a fine Pumpkin day, when I get to finally "roll out" (yuk, yuk) my latest Paper Pumpkin kit - Pedal Praise. I have been regretting not getting that SAB set that had the pennyfarthing cycle in it for a while now, but now I'm all recovered, because I have the cute little 10-speed from Pedal Praise! So, for this month's Pumpkin Challenge #913, we're all about shapes - perfect for this month's kit! I'm starting slow with a circles thing going on, but added some major color splashes while I was at it, no pumpkin should ever be without a snazzy wardrobe! August 2013 Paper Pumpkin kit - Pedal Praise; plus, Rose Red, Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz CS; Afternoon Picnic DSP; 2 1/4", 2", 1 3/8", 7/8", 5/8" & Bitty Circle punches; Corner Rounder punch; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. |
