 Oh goody - CAS on Friday #171 has a fun theme - "winter!" Love it! I really can't yet separate "winter" from "Christmas," lol, but I tried! I dug deep and pulled out my Peaceful Wishes set from 2006 - still love this gorgeous thing! The images, the font - it's just beautiful. I tried to go fairly ultra-clean here: a couple pine fronds, a single frosty pinecone, and just a few glitter enamel dots. So much white space - yikes! I had to stop before I started pulling out ribbon and puff paint, lol. In{k}spire Me #412 is back with a fun combo challenge to kick off their 2020 - pretty colors! I really wasn't sure I could do both parts of this challenge, I have to be honest. In what scenario would all these colors work together?? How about in a pretty landscape, like, say, one made with the gorgeous new My Meadow set?? Yes!! I cut out a circle, and started building my scene. I've found in all these scene-builder sets, it works best for me if I start from one main focal image, and build out from there - today, that was the bridge. I got creative with some stamping off to mix in some shading as well, and I think it turned out great! I'm loving how all these pieces fit together! A quick sentiment, and few faceted dots, and we are set! Fusion Card Challenge is back for 2020 with this "winter" combo - so pretty! I was really stumped for the sketch side for a while until I remembered my old Pattern Party Decorative Masks Pack, and the big circular stencil in there - it's even kind of snowflake looking, I think, lol. I did it up in cool blues and grays, and laid a sparkly silver strip over that for the sketch, then added a sentiment from First Frost to seal the "winter" deal, hopefully. I finished with a few silver sequins for a just a touch more sparkle. Fun! Gotta get back in the fusion groove! I of course had to go looking for a fun shape to put into this sketch! Pens? Paintbrushes? Branches? Feathers? OooOOoo! What about LIPSTICK?? Lol, just the thing. I hand-cut a nice bold banner from my Best Dressed DSP pack, and quickly cranked out five lipsticks in the coordinating colors - love these dies! I couldn't fit the sentiment I wanted to use onto one of the lipsticks - but I like it floated off to the side like this, too. Very cool - Inspire Create Challenge #060 is running a "relative" theme this week - how perfect to pair with The Male Room #127's "anything masculine goes" plan! When I was thinking about the "relative" side of this challenge, I remembered our May 2018 Paper Pumpkin - Manly Moments - this one has all the sentiments for all the guys in your life, lol. I decided to go with that, and matched it with some plaid sheets from our new Country Club DSP pack - plaid can be pretty manly, right? Lol. I also decided to play with shapes, and pulled out my old Tailored Tag Punch, also kind of manly, I think, lol. I had fun putting together this tiles background, then popping the sentiment over it - fun!  We have some lovely Spring colors from this week's Hand Stamped Sentiments #330! These seemed perfect for a doing a quick dip into our latest scene-building set, My Meadow. It's the perfect addition to our others, and adds some cute new elements as well: a gazebo, a bridge, and as you can see, a wheelbarrow. I wish my little side yard garden was big enough for a wheelbarrow, lol. Anyway, I did a little spot of Spring here, getting set for planting, which actually does start really soon here in Arizona. A quick and pretty card is just the thing I need for my garden inspiration planning! I picked this lovely swirly one in blues to be most like water for my background, and heat embossed my sweet couple in shimmer black to really stand out. Love it! I remember reading this book back in my earlier school days, and I have a vague sense of sadness when I think back to it - I seem to recall there being a loss in this story. We love our dogs here so much - they ARE our family, lol, warts, snores and all, so I knew I wanted to include a dog on my card. I decided to go for something pretty similar to the cover, with silhouettes, and pretty blues, and a sentiment that brings out adventurous good times with friends - THAT'S what I'll remember now! A pretty hive in Crushed Curry, and a fancy bee on the prowl finish us off - except for those drops of honey I spilled, lol. Shhh, they're really Gold Glitter Enamel Dots - apparently they're my new fave his week! So, what will YOU create? I can't wait to check it out - see you at the challenge!
