I loved loved LOVED the possibilities in this week's Clean & Simple #244! There's so much you can do with repeating an image this way, and it instantly makes me start hunting for something unexpected to use! This time, I still need one last Father's Day card for DH, who just got back from a camping and fishing trip with a buddy where NO fish made any appearances. (He was a little distraught when he got home!) Sounds like we're dealing with some wildfire ash run-off, and the rivers might be out for fish for a while. Good thing we like craw-dads, BUT, I'm the craw-dad hunter around here... Oh well... I have always LOVED the "inchies" layout - such a fun way to spotlight, or make "puzzle" pieces, or make a dramatic repetitive statement - so versatile! So it was fun to take this week's Paper Craft Crew #44 sketch and make a cute Dad's Day card for my Dad, who "lives in the woods," lol. Very pared down, very clean, very natural - perfect for a nature-focused man card - yay! Be sure to check out the other wonderful samples at Paper Craft Crew #44 this week - so much inspiration! Gently Falling & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Soft Suede & Ivory Natural CS; This and That Epic Day DSP; Crumb Cake, Early Espresso & Gumball Green inks; Linen Thread; 1" Square punch. So, with so many graduating seniors this week in our little gang, I figured we'd push a week for class, and have our first official class of summer! I'm pretty psyched to add another shadow box insert to our collection: here's one for Father's Day! You could make it say something else, too, if you wanted it to be more generic. Like maybe, "Dude!" That would be hiLARious! To go with, we also have two quick but dramatic cards, both designed with the idea of keeping them generically masculine, just in case you don't need a Father's Day card - what do you think? There are numerous images and sentiments to swap out very easily to meet your needs! So, RSVP today for our All About the Guys Class, Thursday, May 30, 630 pm, chez Heroldt; or, if you need a day class, Friday, May 31, 10 am, also chez Heroldt! And just to put another bug in your ear, your gift this month is your brand spankin' new 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog - I have them waiting for you already! Can't wait to see you all! I can't kid about this - Dapper Dad has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks now, crying out to me. "Ink me up! Ink me up! What are you waiting for?" Well, today is the day! I got this set because my hubby is a watch freak, so in typical Heather-Stamps-Funky fashion, I pick a different image to work with than the one I got the set for. (I tried to use the watch, I really did. Alas, I don't think you'll ever get to see THAT card.) Meh. Thank you Retro Sketch #53! Dapper Dad, Woodgrain & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Always Artichoke, Baja Breeze, Naturals Ivory & Crumb Cake CS; Manchester (retired) DSP; Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Craft & Always Artichoke inks; Clear embossing powder; Word Window punch. Whew - keeping up with the sketch challenges takes some stamina! Hope I can keep up this pace, and two a week is my limit! Here is my rendition of this week's Retro Sketch #25 - something about all the blocks reminded me of this neck tie stamp set, which I wanted to lighten up with some fresh little prints. Our young newlywed principal at the local elementary school wears ties like this - hopefully he'll set a trend! Make sure to bop out to the challenge page to see all the other gorgeous creations! Best Dad Ever stamp set; Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise & Poppy Parade (retired) CS; Pawsitively Prints II (retired) DSP; Brights buttons collection. I don't think Todd reads my blog either! So I get to post this one, too! Todd's a big golfer, and we're finally at the time of year when we don't hang out much outside, except poolside. So I thought I'd do him a golf-themed Father's Day card this year. And because he's an engineer, I like his cards to be "action" cards! This one has a spinner - the golf ball rolls back and forth revealing the "Happy Father's Day" through the window. Fun stuff! The golf ball is made by running a 1" punched circle through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder - saw that trick somewhere - brilliant! Hopefully he won't think card is all gray - he's red/green color blind, but I can't think golf without thinking green! Garden Green, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi & Very Vanilla CS; The Back Nine (retired), Fore! (retired), Inspired By Nature (retired), Teeny Tiny Wishes & Lovely Little Labels stamp sets; Aqua Painter; Early Espresso satin ribbon. Well, it's that time again - Father's Day is upon us! Here's to the men who take care of us, and all our toys! This card is for my Dad (who DOESN'T read my blog!) I actually got this background stamp, Tool Shed, with him in mind, he's very handy! Nice and not too frilly either, I was very restrained, I think... I should really use my Build-A-Brad more, fun! Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake & Not Quite Navy CS; Tool Shed, All Holidays & Tiny Tags stamp sets; Build-A-Brad kit; Early Espresso ribbon & inks. |
