OK, I want to do something bright and cheery with this week's layout over at Retro Sketches #132! The DT's samples are so HAPPY! And you know what's bright and cheery? A moose in long johns! FINALLY I get to ink this cutie up - and what a riot he is, lol... I had thought I would be using my blendas to give this boy his marching colors, but in the end I went with my aqua-painter - I do like this effect too. So, moose-boy is being fancy because he has Christmas lights caught in his antlers - can you see them? Geez, I crack myself up... (PS. I had so much fun at last night's Blendabilities class! Hope you did, too! As promised, here is the instruction sheet for those that track these things!! Fab Friday #50 wants to share its golden anniversary with Sunday Stamps #84, don't you think?? I had to really root around looking for gold elements to play with - I've always been more of a silver gal myself. I was surprised how many items I could find! In the end, I left off the gold sequins, for example... But really, I let the Gold Soiree Specialty DSP do all the talking, and pretty much set the tone for how it would all flow. I did have to visit my stamp retirement home for the floral set - how did it happen that I don't have any current "outline-style" floral sets? Yikes! And wow, it was SO HARD to work with only two colors, lol! It felt very unnatural, for sure... Growing Green (retired) & Lots of Thanks Stamp Sets; Gold Soiree Specialty DSP; Gold Encore Ink; Gold Embossing Powder; Lots of Tags Label 1 Sizzlet (retired); 1/8" Gold Ribbon; Gold Basic Metal Button; White Baker's Twine. This week, I'm smiling about shakers - cards, that is! So, I've been wanting to do a shaker with the pretty pink sequins that came in Seriously Amazing, but I also wanted to pull in a past kit. Enter Glittered Greetings! I think Strawberry Slush is a perfect accent to the Coastal Cabana from that kit - and I love the little pops of contrast they bring! Seriously sparkly to boot! Hint - a shaker set up is the perfect way to burn through the different dimensionals that come in our kits - they aren't a perfect match to our regular ones, so I always try to keep them on separate projects! Paper Pumpkin - Seriously Amazing & Glittered Greetings; plus, Strawberry Slush Ink; Corner Rounder Punch (old style!); Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Blendabilities Class Sep 18! I'm so excited to announce this class - it's kind of a new style for me! The goal of this class is to PUT THESE MARKERS IN YOUR HANDS, for some serious play-time! I want you to see how easy they are to use, and how many different ways you can use them, to add some color ZING to your projects! Class will include 4 complete projects featuring Blendas, with as much prep as I can do for you, so you have all kinds of time to color away! We'll be exploring several fun techniques and embellishment ideas. As an added bonus, included in this class is your own Blendability Color Lifter to keep! You know you want it! So, class is announced for Thursday, September 18, 6:30 pm, or Saturday. Class is $20 and will have the usual drinks and snacks on hand! RSVP now! The gals over at In{k}spire Me #164 must know how much I adore banners! Today I decided to resurrect my doesn't-get-out-enough photopolymer set Bombs Away Birthday - I just love the sarcastic little sentiments that come with it, lol... Pairing it with anything Blackberry Bliss makes it yummy for me! I also tried to play with off-setting my circles a little - that's a lot of real estate to leave untouched for me... The result has been a look not usual for me, but quirky, maybe... Bombs Away Birthday Stamp Set; Sahara Sand, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey & Whisper CS; Moonlight DSP Stack; Circles Collection Framelits; Large Polka Dots, Decorative Dots & Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folders; Basic Gray Baker's Twine; Basic Jewel Rhinestones & Jumbo Rhinestone. Oo, this week's Freshly Made Sketch #153 has gone clean and simple! In typical backwards fashion, I am flipping the image and sentiment elements, so I can use my new cute-as-a-button-and-it-has-its-own-punch-too stamp set Merry Everything! I love the chalk-board look of the stamp I chose, and I decided to play up some holiday colors a little as well. Then I needed silver. And then sparkles. And then an embellie. Time to stop before I get carried away! Merry Everything Stamp Set; Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler & Smoky Slate CS; Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive Inks; Note Tag & Corner Rounder Punches; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; All Is Calm Snowflake Embellishment. Now here's a combo that doesn't happen for me too often: Nacho Average Challenge #106 and Clean & Simple #306! This sketch and color scheme gave me a chance to try something I've been wanting to do for a while. The possibilities in the What's Your Type? stamp set intrigue me SO much - what kind of home-made DSPs can I make? What kinds of abstract backgrounds? How random can I go? Will it hang together? What will happen to colors doubled over each other? These were the thoughts I had while playing with this scrap of Whisper White today. In the end, I trimmed it down, ran a thinlet sentiment over it, and mounted it on the Coastal Cabana to give it some pop... It's been an interesting, if abstract, experiment today - I want to keep working on this! Off to watch some Buck Rogers instead, lol... What's Your Type? Stamp Set; Coastal Cabana & Whisper White CS; Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe & Daffodil Delight Inks; Large Polka Dots Embossing Folder; Label Card Thinlets; Linen Thread. Oh goodness - I am totally tickled by this week's Merry Monday #125 - Transportation! You SO have to go see the design team's inspirations, and check back for everyone else's ideas! So let's just jump right in here - is there anyone out there who knows me, and DIDN'T think I was going to bring out Loads of Love for this one? I mean, really? If there is - SHAME SHAME on you, lol! Wa-HOOOO! I got to use the TRU-UCK! The crowd goes WILD! OK, the little telephone in this week's Retro Sketch #131 cracks me up! Such a whimsical sketch... I decided to go with my Well Worded set for the image, and when I pulled it out, I realized that I don't think I've ever used my butterfly before - what?! Another shocker - I had to leave this butterfly "naked," too - I didn't want to obscure the words that make up the image. This feels very unnatural to me! To make up for that, I had to do a Blackberry Bliss color scheme - that definitely helps! Well Worded & Lots of Thanks Stamp Sets; Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Season of Style DSP (retired); Blackberry Bliss Ink; Natural Trim Ribbon; Basic Jewel Jumbo Rhinestone (retired.) That big 'ole star sure is inspiring at Clean & Simple #305! I still have Christmas on the brain, though... That led me naturally to the super cute Letterpress Winter Stamp Set - I love those snowflake line images! So fun to stack with some accompanying framelit shapes, too (shh, I had some left over from our Christmas Card Class!) I am also still so stuck on this color combo of cool blues and naturals - yummy! Letterpress Winter & Good Greetings Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Silver Foil & Coastal Cabana CS; Versamark & Coastal Cabana Inks; Snowflake Card Thinlets; Large Polka Dots Embossing Folder; Basic Jewel Jumbo Rhinestone (retired.) Still all about the smiles here at My Pumpkin Challenge #0914! So, I know this card is super simple, but one of the things that really makes me smile is COLOR! And we all know that one of my all time favorite colors ever (lately!) is Blackberry Bliss - so of course I had to do a "conversion" to that color sometime! I cut a basic card base In Blackberry Bliss CS, and also replace the closure circles provided in the kit with circles I punched in the same color. A touch of bling, a little Hello Honey to coordinate, and we are out the door! Hint: To make the circle closure, I first punched a 1/8" Circle in some scrap. I then turned over my 3/4" Circle Punch so I could "find" the tiny pilot hole in the center of that circle. So much easier than trying to center a tiny hole after I'd already cut out the larger circle! Seriously Amazing Paper Pumpkin; plus, Blackberry Bliss CS & Ink; 1/8" and 3/4" Circle Punches.
