We are using ALL the real estate for this week's Sunday Sketch #86! A set I haven't played with yet (what am I saving it for??) is the brilliant Holiday Home, with it's own set of framelits. I'll consider this card the warm-up! You actually get little accessories to do quite a few holidays with this one, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to do them all, lol... Had some fun painting with the aqua-painters on this one, too - still fun! I went a little overboard with the wreaths, I know, but at least I used punches and didn't hand-cut them! Holiday Home Stamp Set; Nordic Noel DSP; Whisper White, Garden Green. Real Red & Soft Sky CS; Garden Green, So Saffron, Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, Real Red & Baked Brown Sugar Inks; Homemade Holiday & Bitty Banners Framelits; Nordic Designer Buttons; 1/8" Circle & Mini Punch Pack Circle Punches; White Baker's Twine.

This week's Merry Monday #129 to use neon colors is a super tricky one for me! I've not done anything like before... I played a little bit with current SU! colors, but really, in my heart I knew I was going to be hitting up my retired ink rack for this one. It was kind of hilarious that all the colors but one that I used for this card were completely untouched! It was actually hard to get the pads open, lol. I had serious doubts right up to the bright and bitter end here, but now that I see the finished card, I actually like it! Definitely a change of pace - and everyone's eyeballs should also thank me for not going for that Yoyo Yellow card base, too, by the way, lol... Christmas Bliss Stamp Set; Whisper White & Pink Passion (retired) CS; Gable Green, Pink Passion, Brilliant Blue, Only Orange & Orchid Opulence Inks (all retired!); Stars Framelits; Frosted Sequins Embellishments. Oo, fun times! In honor of World Card Making Day, Retro Sketches #135 is challenging us to an "anything goes!" I decided to check out their archives and go all the way back to their very first sketch - what a cutie! So, it's a bit overcast and cooling today here in AZ, finally, which weirdly, means it's gardening time! I just finished my direct-sow items this morning, I've had my seedlings started a couple weeks, and fresh Spring colors are on my mind! That's the inspiration for this card - getting the garden going makes me happy! And has anyone else noticed how obsessed I seem to be with dots lately?? Well, they're happy, too! Yippee-Skippee! Stamp Set; Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Pistachio Pudding & Garden Green CS; Calypso Coral & Garden Green Inks; Gold Soiree Specialty DSP; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Gold Basic Metal Button; White Baker's Twine. Time for another yummy with My Pumpkin Challenge #1014 - Sweets & Treats! So, Halloween is a pretty big deal in our house - we're that neighbor you live in dread of, with crazy decor and motion-activated spooky noises and jumping spiders, crawling hands...you get the idea! And wait'll you see our latest addition, an 8 foot black and white stripey spider with a light-up butt! He's hanging over our front door - my goal is to get to keep ALL the candy this year because the kids will be too scared to come to the house, lol... Anyway, we also started with our after-school spooky treats this week (gummy eyeballs, anyone?) and I decided a little grave-yard humor (yuk-yuk) was in order! I thought the pretty curvy tag could look just like a headstone when upright like this, and swooshing bats are are just the right finishing touch! Hint: make your bat trajectory by slicing off a 1/4" strip from one of your window sheets, bend one end under your box lid (I used the new Tiny Treat Boxes) give it a twist, and afix the other end under the other side. Adding the twist lets the bats show from the front and flutter all over! Paper Pumpkin Boo-tiful Bags; plus Tiny Treat Box; Seriously Amazing dot stamp; Basic Black, & Blackberry Bliss Inks; Googly Eyes; Blackberry Bliss Marker; Window Sheet Scrap. Love all the circles at this week's Clean & Simple #309! Always fun to play with this kind of layout... So, since I'm already down to scraps of my favorite Christmas DSP, (Only October and I already have to restock the Christmas paper?? Yikes!) I decided this would be a good sketch to squeeze the last little BIT of juice out of All Is Calm! This card was super quick and easy to make, but oh so elegant in the finish. Clean and simple is SO soothing! No Stamps (GASP!); All Is Calm DSP; Whisper White & Silver Foil CS; Circles Collection Framelits; Expressions Thinlets; Corner Rounder Punch. October Monthly Release - Gentle Peace Hey - the latest photopolymer stamp set has been released, and it looks made for our Blendas! And look how they're sneaking in another Christmas set! Be sure to click the picture to see the full-size flyer of Gentle Peace, which looks like a stained-glass window! Love it!Four stamps for $15.95 is quite the bargain, too! Time expand my own collection, lol! I love the movement this week's Fab Friday #51 conveys! Seems like a good sketch for DH's birthday, too! This year is the big 5-0 for my sweetie, so I decided to go fairly low-key (all the GOOD stuff is hand-written inside, lol) especially since he's getting a fair amount of flak from his three younger brothers. Poor baby! Since he definitely makes MY world a better place, this seemed perfect! I love you, honey! Starburst Sayings & Bloom With Hope Stamp Sets; Park Lane DSP; Soft Suede, Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive, Calypso Coral & Whisper White CS; Old Olive & Blackberry Bliss Inks; 2" Circle Punch; Bitty Banners & Starburst Framelits. Check out this week's In{k}spire Me #167 - a Halloween-Fall Challenge! Love it! Seems like a perfect time to trot out my Fall Fest stamp set again, and really play with Jack-O-Lanterns this time - don't they look like they're all singing spooky songs together? Those matching framelits really make it all come together a "treat," lol. Hoo, I crack myself up... This was the perfect mood setter for getting out all our Halloween decor today, including the giant 8 foot spider with flashing red eyes that's our new addition this year! He's hanging over the eaves atop the front door - with any luck, the kiddies will be so scared we'll get to keep ALL the candy this year! Fall Fest & Good Greetings Stamp Sets; Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist & Very Vanilla CS; Tangleo Twist, Mossy Meadow & Basic Black Inks; Woodgrain Embossing Folder; Fun Fall & Bitty Banner Framelits; Corner Rounder Punch; Stitched Satin Ribbon in Mossy Meadow. This week's Freshly Made Sketch #156 once again brings the clever layers! I love how they show off the different shapes against each other... So I know I just used this stamp set yesterday, but as I got to looking over this sketch I realized I could use it again, and squeeze in my Rootin' Tootin' sentiment! Yay! I also figured out that my old Blender Pen is WAY less fun to use now that I've been spoiled with the Blendabilities Markers - I snuck it in on this card a little to fill in some color on my lasso... Extra Hint: I got the "Have A" phrase from the You're Wonderful stamp set - you really just need to go ahead and get both, lol! Yee-Haw & You're Wonderful Stamp Sets; Crumb Cake, Whisper White & Cherry Cobbler CS; Night of Navy DSP Scrap (retired); Chocolate Chip, Night of Navy & Cherry Cobbler Inks; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; Bitty Banners Framelits. Always room for a "sweet saying" with this week's Nacho Average Challenge #109! (Insert snicker here, lol...) So, I started out by looking around for what I could use to address the vertical and horizontal elements of the sketch along the lower left corner of the sketch. I'll be honest, I was first thinking ribbon or twine. Then, I thought, hey, what about barbed wire?! Because of course, I just got my new set, Yee-Haw! How could I NOT have this set, living in Arizona?? Yes, yes, I totally got it for the phrase "Rootin' Tootin'" and yes, I have once again started out by NOT using the stamp that first caught my eye, but have patience my pretties, I'll get there! I did put a horse-shoe on the inside, at least... Yee-Haw Stamp Set; Early Espresso, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Basic Gray, Pear Pizzazz & Crushed Curry Inks. This week's Merry Monday #128 - Dots or Stripes is a FUN one! Which to choose? OK, at first I thought I'd do both, of course, but then I remembered this yummy paper in the Nordic Noel DSP collection. I don't know about you, but when I think Christmas stripes, I immediately fix on candy canes, lol. This one so stripey - I had to use it! I decided to combine with my Mingle All the Way stamp set, which I haven't inked yet (gasp!) It was so fun to color in this stamp! I decided to go with aqua-painters for it - whew... Simple to put together, but dressy to color! Mingle All the Way Stamp Set; Nordic Noel DSP; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Real Red & Old Olive Inks; 1/8" Taffeta in Real Red; Banners Framelits. |
