Whew! I needed this! Christmas Craft Creations is here to feed my steady Christmas diet with a stencils or embossing challenge this month - yay! I really wanted to do something in stenciling today - I had to go on a hunt to see if I had anything that would work for Christmas! Then I spotted this snowflake sheet in my retired Adorning Designs pack - perfect! Another set I've been eyeing for a few weeks is my Celebrate With Tags bundle - I love the mitten in this one, and I really wanted to use it, too! I sort of threw this one together, and did TWO mittens for a pair. I made them a little topsy-turvy to disguise that they are the same mitten - two right hands, lol! Celebrate With Tags Stamp Set; Basic White & Azure Afternoon CS; Azure Afternoon & Cherry Cobbler Inks; Adorning Designs Decorative Masks (retired); Blending Brush; Celebrations Tag Dies; Heavy Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine; Cherry Cobbler Matte Dots; #CCCFeb24.

Today we get TWO cards, because I just can't mash these together, lol - I knew it had to happen sooner or later! First up is our monthly Sparkles Christmas Challenge #158 - let's see some plaid! I started my search with the plaid, and rummaged through my retired DSP bin. I quickly came up with this little pack called Wrapped in Plaid, and one of the pieces showing had all these plaid stockings on it! I took that as a sign, and checked my shelves for some stocking sets. Tags & Trimmings from 2017 leapt right out - such fun dies for it, with ALL the stocking details! I got a little creative to get it all to fit on my card front, but I think I went pretty plaid happy here! Make sure you show us YOUR tartans, too - standing by! Tags & Trimmings Stamp Set (retired 2017); Wrapped in Plaid DSP (retired); Basic White, Crumb Cake & Cherry Cobbler CS; Cherry Cobbler Ink; Trim Your Stocking Dies (retired); Heavy Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine; Festive Pearls; #SCC158. Next up I have As You See It #318, where we're running an Easter theme - let's see those bunnies! I decided to go with some pretty fancy eggs - aren't these dies the cutest in our Excellent Eggs bundle? And look how sweet it is with our Perennial Lavender DSP! I did three colors for the eggs, and mixed and matched some inlaid parts for extra cuteness, lol. Tip: if you want to do some inlaid work with this die, I found that our old Large Oval Punch fits perfectly on the back, so I could fit in all my pieces and still pop up my finished eggs! I also loved the look of this beautiful script on this Nested Essential shape - so much drama! Make sure you hop over and share your Easter cards with us - I'll be waiting! Excellent Eggs Stamp Set; Perennial Lavender DSP; Basic White, Blackberry Bliss, Highland Heather & Fresh Freesia CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Excellent Eggs & Nested Essentials Dies; Large Oval Punch (retired); Purple Fine Shimmer Gems; #AYSI318. Very fun - Shopping Our Stash #514 has a winter wonderland, OR, a white-on-white challenge going this round! Great choices! I decided to suck it up and do another winter scene, lol, but I do seem to be doing a lot of these lately! This time, I turned to my beloved One Horse Open Sleigh DSP to do the heavy lifting - I SO love this paper! I decided to feature the sheet that has this gorgeous winter fox on it, somehow I don't think I've used it very much. I even found a scrap with an extra fox on it in my pack, so I fussy cut the extra to bring in a little dimension. I added a couple trees from the gorgeous Pine Woods Dies from 2020, which I smudged a tiny bit with Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze. And I finished with my sentiment from Above It All stamped directly to the background. A few Gold Iridescent Pastel Gems add a touch of sparkle. Love it! Above It All Stamp Set (retired 2024); One Horse Open Sleigh DSP (retired, I think); Basic White & Cajun Craze CS; Cajun Craze & Crumb Cake Inks; Sponge Daubers; Pine Woods Dies (retired); Gold Iridescent Pastel Gems; #SOS514. This sounds fun - The Sisterhood of Crafters has a "winter blues" theme this round! If I'm going to do a "winter" card (in blues, lol) it's definitely going to be a Christmas card! I decided a strand of bright blue bulbs would be just the thing - I am still totally smitten with our just-retired Merry & Bright set! I did my darkest accents in Starry Sky, and then stamped and stamped off bulbs in Blueberry Bushel and Azure Afternoon. Remember seeing those houses all lit up with only blue lights?? I used to love those, lol, but now I like multicolored ones - tastes change, I guess. Anyway, I was reminded of seeing the all-blue theme a few times - perfect inspiration! Merry & Bright Stamp Set (retired 2024); Basic White & Starry Sky CS; Starry Sky, Blueberry Bushel & Azure Afternoon Inks; Merry & Bright Dies (retired); Blueberry Bushel Tinsel Gems; #TSOCWinterBlues. Sympathy Cards Class February 10 This is our chance to make those cards we are always sorry to need, but that bring such comfort to the receivers. Class will feature 6 cards with envelopes, snacks, drinks and a special gift from me, all for $25. Bring your own favorite snips and adhesive! This class can also be free with your order of $30 or more! Class is on for February 10 at 2 pm - RSVP now to save your spot! Ah, so nice to have a Christmas card to design! We at Sparkles Christmas Challenge #157 want to see you getting merry in Kraft! So in SU! world, kraft means Crumb Cake, lol. We HAVE occasionally had some true kraft heavy-weight specialty items, but I think it's been a few years! Crumb Cake has been my go-to neutral since I first started! I decided to play with my beloved Above It All set today - I just am so hooked on these retro trees! I did a nice dotty background with my Dots & Spots die, over white, and then set up this pretty landcsape with three different size trees. I heat embossed the stamped ones in clear, too, for a little variation. A few Gold Iridescent Pastel Gems, and I am all good! I can't wait to see YOUR krafty projects for this one - meet you at the challenge! Above It All Stamp Set (retired 2024); Basic White & Crumb Cake CS; Crumb Cake & Versamark Inks; Clear EP; Above & All, Dots & Spots and Nested Essentials Dies; Gold Iridescent Pastel Gems; #SCC157. This is nice - Time Out Challenge #255 has a wonderful haiku to inspire us this round! This haiku seems to me to be really calling out for a monochrome card, lol. And with the Winter theme - I just couldn't resist playing with my old Jingle All The Way bundle from 2015. The set is bundled with a set of landscape dies to be layered for gorgeous winter scenes! I kept it all in shades of White, with Smoky Slate accents, and finished with a few tiny silver pearls, too. I feel like this card is speaking the haiku for me! Jingle All The Way Stamp Set (retired 2015); Basic White, White Glimmer & Smoky Slate CS; Smoky Slate Ink; Sleigh Ride Dies (retired); Snowflake Sky EF; Silver Pearls; #TOC255. This should be good - Farm Quest #44 is ready with the next challenge - winter sports! I pondered for a while if a one-horse open sleigh could be a winter sport, lol, and finally decided to pull out my trusty Alpine Adventure set again - I've been leaning on this one hard lately! I stamped a set of snowshoes (have you ever tried it? I did once in Banff - it's WAY harder than I thought it would be!) to go over this gorgeous perspective sheet from the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP, at least, lol. Since I was all Misty Moonlight all over, I dropped a few spots of pretty Cherry Cobbler Matte Dots around to finish things off - but maybe those give the wrong idea? I was thinking BIRDS, like cardinals against the snow, lol. A pretty contrast, anyway! Alpine Adventure Stamp Set (retired 2018); One Horse Open Sleigh DSP; Basic White & Misty Moonlight CS; Misty Moonlight Ink; Alpine Sports Dies (retired); Cherry Cobbler Matte Dots; #FQCB44. I really like Christmas Craft Creations' January theme - glitter and sparkle! I wanted to try to use a Christmas set that survived the end of the holiday catty, lol, so I played with Merriest Trees, which is carrying over - yay! However, I had to dig DEEP to find a sentiment that had the actual word "sparkle" in it! I finally found my Sparkle of the Season set from 2021 - whew! After decking out my pretty tree in gold emboss and glimmer, I added the cute sentiment right over it, and finished with a few Gold Sparkle Gems. Simple and sparkly, I think! Merriest Trees & Sparkle of the Season (retired 2021) Stamp Sets; Basic White & Granny Apple Green CS; Granny Apple Green, Versamark & Real Red Inks; Gold EP; Gold Glimmer Paper; Merriest Trees Dies; Gold Sparkle Gems; #CCCJanuary2024. Since it's still a little chilly out, we'd like to see you feature some Winter Fun this round at Retro Rubber #222! When I think of winter fun, I can't help but think of the marathon sledding we used to do when I was a kid - we'd stay out for hours, and come home soaking wet! We used to dare each other to SIT on the wood stove for a few seconds, so we could hear our pants hiss while they dried, lol. Crazy! So while we never had a fancy flyer like this one (yes, we really did sled on garbage bags, lol), I knew I wanted to pull out my Alpine Adventure bundle and cut out one of these pretty sleds! I dressed it up with some markers and a little Timber embossing, added the tow rope, and I was set! This pretty sheet from the One Horse Open Sleigh pack was just right for my background! I can't wait to see YOUR winter fun cards - hope you can join us at the challenge! Alpine Adventure Stamp Set (retired 2018); One Horse Open Sleigh DSP; Basic White & Lost Lagoon CS; Lost Lagoon & Early Espresso Inks; Water Painter; Basic Black Stamp-n-Write Marker; Timber EF; Alpine Sports (retired) & Stitched Shapes Dies; Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes; #RRCB222. Yay! The luck of the calendar has me working on a two-fer today! Make My Monday #216 is back, with a New Year's theme! And Sparkles Christmas Challenge #156 wants to see a Winter Wonderland! This should be fun! OK, I think I hit on my solution - I need a sentiment that covers Christmas AND New Year's! I ventured all the way back to Hearts Come Home which retired in 2019 - whew! I built my winter scene around that using my beloved Forever Forest Dies in white over Night of Navy, then heat embossed my sentiment and some Fireworks, from this year's Light The Sky. Does it work?? Hopefully! I finished with a few Classic Matte Dots. I can't wait to see YOUR projects this round - see you at the challenges! Hearts Come Home (retired 2019) & Light The Sky Stamp Sets; Basic White & Night of Navy CS; Versamark & Night of Navy Inks; White EP; Forever Forest Dies; Classic Matte Dots; #MMM216; #SCC156. |
