Is it my imagination, or does this nifty sketch from In{k}spire Me #231 make the card look taller? How cool! So, this was another chance to use a stamp set that hasn't come out to play lately again - Barnyard Babies. Such adorable little critters! So I decided to shoot for a baby card - and I HAD to use the little lambs, lol. I played around with layering the accompanying DSP with some bright card stock, and tried a bit of fussy cutting, too. And I did a little trip in my accessories basket - see what I found at the bottom? Yup, an almost-full box of Soda Pop Tops - remember those? I even had one already smooshed - perfect! Barnyard Babies Stamp Set; Sweet L'il Things DSP; Tip Top Taupe, Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Watermelon Wonder & Very Vanilla CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Tip Top Taupe Inks; Basic Black Marker; Bitty Banners Framelits; Silver Soda Pop Tops; Owl Builder Punch. Birthday Cards Class Jan 14 & 16! Are you ready to start off your stampin' year right?? This class will get you all set up to get the celebrations going! January's class will feature 5 lovely birthday cards, for all ages and folks, all from our shiny new 2016 Spring Occasions catty and this year's Sale-A-Bration 2016! I hope you plan to join us for parties, treats and FUN! All supplies are provided, plus snacks and drinks, for $25! Class is announced for Thursday, January 14 at 630 pm, and Saturday January 16 at 3 pm, chez Heroldt. RSVP now to reserve your spot, and make sure I have your supplies waiting for you! Love the oval shape on this week's Freshly Made Sketch #190 - will I keep it, though, lol? Let's just see if I do after I also toss in the color challenge from this week's Just Add Ink #266! Time for another new stamp set - yay! Today I'm showing off the elegant new hostess set Silhouettes & Script. I actually had thought I'd do the pear image, but the colors kept pulling me to another baby card, so I succumbed. My baby card box is getting FULL! My friends need to start having more babies, I think... Anyway, combining this sketch and color challenge definitely pulled me in a direction I wouldn't have gone otherwise, I think - but I managed to save the oval! Silhouettes & Script, & Something to Say Stamp Sets; Birthday Bash Specialty & Unknown Ancient Pink Pirouette Scrap DSPs, both retired; Heavy & Regular Whisper White, Pink Pirouette & Night of Navy CS; Night of Navy & Versamark Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; Ovals Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template (retired); Banner Punch (for flagging sentiment.) Independence Day Decor Class! I think it's time to make a new outfit for our Hello Life Project Kit! I know we loved our St. Patrick's Day gown - let's do one for July 4, too! Class is still on for a new make-up class on Thursday, June 18 at 6:30 pm. Class will include all supplies, a little treat from me, and snacks and drinks. If you already have a Hello Life Project kit, class is $20, and will build on what we've started with. If you need a kit to get started with, I have several on hand, and class is $25. RSVP today, so I can make sure to be ready for you! I love this cool and beautiful palette from this week's Sunday Stamps #103! I think I'll match it up with this week's slanted sketch from Nacho Average Challenge #145! FINALLY! chance to play with some new goodies! It's always funny to me what stuff I pull out as I navigate whatever challenges are in front of me, lol. In this case, this particular combo seemed to call out for the adorable new Barnyard Babies, along with the Sweet Li'l Things DSP. These beautiful but subdued colors were not what I was thinking when I first saw this set, of course, but so fun to make a simple and sweet baby card! Barnyard Babies Stamp Set; Sweet Li'l Things DSP; Tip Top Taupe, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla CS; Early Espresso & Tip Top Taupe Inks; Dotted Lace Trim in Tip Top Taupe; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Snowflake Card Thinlets; Subtles Candy Dots in Pool Party. I'm combining with Create With Connie & Mary #358's color challenge, too - so subtle and pretty! I think I should make this the year of the Envelope Punch Board! Because using it made it so "SU-per" easy to make an off-size card base, it's a little embarrassing that I've resisted for so long! After looking over what DSP I had in the challenge colors, I chose a 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" card base, so that I only needed an 8 1/4" square for my envelope. So stinking clever! I'm always so proud of myself every time I use it, I should get it out every day, lol, so good for my ego... After that, I decided on a pretty little baby card, and things took off from there - it's ducky time! Something for Baby, Work of Art & Crazy about You Stamp Sets; Lullaby DSP (retired, for envelope); So Saffron, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey & Whisper White CS; So Saffron, Hello Honey & Lost Lagoon Inks; Baby's First Framelits; Large Polka Dots Embossing Folder; Banner & Itty Bitty Accent Blossom Punches; Subtles Brads in So Saffron (SO retired, lol). Independence Day Decor Class! I think it's time to make a new outfit for our Hello Life Project Kit! I know we loved our St. Patrick's Day gown - let's do one for July 4, too! Class is announced for Thursday, June 11, 630 PM, or Saturday, June 13 at 3 PM. Class will include all supplies, a little treat from me, and snacks and drinks. If you already have a Hello Life Project kit, class is $20, and will build on what we've started with. If you need a kit to get started with, I have several on hand, and class is $25. RSVP today, so I can make sure to be ready for you! Back to the color grind (ha ha!) with this fresh challenge at SU-per Challenges #84! I'll be matching it with this week's Retro Sketch #160... So, these colors sent me in a baby direction, which sent me naturally to the Something for Baby stamp set. I wanted to use a stamp from there I hadn't used before - the baby buggy, and I still feel a little uncertain about my color choices for the various elements on this one, lol. Even so, I've wound up with a nice gender-neutral card - yay! Something for Baby & Bravo Stamp Sets; Afternoon Picnic DSP (retired); Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron & Wisteria Wonder CS; So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Wisteria Wonder & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Baby's First Framelits; Happy Heart & Decorative Dots Embossing Folders; Owl Builder Punch (for the tiny hearts); Ruffled Ribbon in Wisteria Wonder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Lots of room in this big floating panel at this week's Retro Sketch #157! I think I'll try to match it up with the Nacho Average Color Challenge #134 for this week... So Food Network shows have taught me - never say what you're GONNA give me! But I feel like I should admit, I first tried my hand at the bokeh technique, and gave it up for this card - I think the colors were too light to really make a dramatic statement that I wanted. We'll revisit that later! A little more thought sent me in a baby direction - I haven't inked up Something for Baby in forever! I kept it simple and pretty, and tried to mix up the colors enough that they could be used for girls or boys. I love this set - it reminds me of the paper dolls I used to play with that my grandmother gave me - so fun! Something for Baby & Something to Say Stamp Sets; Pool Party, So Saffron Whisper White & Blushing Bride CS; Pool Party, So Saffron & Blushing Bride Inks; Baby's First Framelits; Happy Heart Embossing Folder; Owl Builder & Itty Bitty Accent Heart Punches; Circle Card Thinlets. That's right, congrats are in order for the amazing Mindy Backes, on the birth of her son, Ian. Congrats and blessings to the whole family! Of course, my new go-to baby set is still Something for Baby - hard to not use those awesome framelits every chance I get, lol. This time, though I used a sentiment from Dear Heart - the boy answer to the adorable Sweetie Pie photopolymer set from a while ago. I pored over Dear Heart for a while thinking about just sticking with that for the whole card, but well, these boyos seemed just a little too mature for a newborn card, lol. And I just wasn't feeling the little dinosaur today. Shocking, I know! Something for Baby & Dear Heart Stamp Sets; Hello Honey, Coastal Cabana & Whisper White CS; Lullaby DSP; Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar & Hello Honey Inks; Baby's First Framelit Dies; Heavy Baker's Twine in Baked Brown Sugar.
