OK, I'll be honest. Making this card for Clean & Simple #228 made me laugh like a loon the whole time. But it totally happened because the sketch designer advised to use a short word, of no more than 3 or 4 letters. Her card was the cutest thing! She used "love," on a Valentine's card, and I think I've already mentioned how I'm burnt on Valentine's now. So I sat and stewed for a while: "Well, what other short words ARE there?? I can't think of anything!" Then inspiration struck, and it went downhill from there. Neo from Matrix would be proud, I like to think... Spec-tacular & Pure Gumption stamp sets; Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Cherry Cobbler baker's twine; Timeless Type Junior sizzlets.

OK, here's the other shadow box we'll be doing in next week's class - finally, an insert for April! I knew we needed to use the cute little umbrellas, and the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP to go with is just perfect! This insert is made using as many punches and dies as we can, so we have all the time we need on that St. Patrick punch art on the other insert... So, don't forget to RSVP for Thursday, Feb 21, 630 pm, for a fun Spring decor class! OK, Paper Craft Crew #29 gets the last of my Valentine's mojo - I'm done! I finally caved and got the adorable whale set - and decided they could be my last hurrah for the year on this - whew! I really wanted to avoid the traditional hearts on the sketch - it was hard to find a different shape that would fit. Got to bring LOTS of new toys for this one - very satisfying! Oh, Whale! & Hearts A Flutter stamp sets; Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP; Marina Mist and Whisper White CS; Red Glimmer Specialty DSP; Hearts A Flutter framelits; Large Delicate Doilies sizzlet; Happy Whale clearlit; Small Heart punch. Here's our first of two projects for next week's class (Thursday, February 21, 630 pm, $20, all materials provided, don't forget to RSVP!) I decided it was time to fill in some Spring holes in our shadow box collection! This first one, obviously, is for St Patrick's Day, and should go great with the "other side" of our clothespin wreaths! My version shows pretty much EVERY option I came up with, I couldn't seem to stop (go figure, right?), but you can do as much or as little detail as you like - fun stuff! It'll be good to have a little Saint on my hall table! Keep an eye out for our other project - an April Showers theme! OK, shhh... I HAD to make this card for bug for Valentine's, after I saw this HILARIOUS video at You Tube by a couple of the geeks, I mean, GUYS, at SU! Bug has turned into SUCH a trekker, I figured, how perfect is this?? I made it blue for Spock, whom she LOVES, even though it's a Next Generation uniform... Did I mention she's learning the theme for Deep Space Nine on piano? Snicker. I can't wait to see her face when she opens this! Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White (inside) & Pacific Point CS; Silver & Gold glimmer papers; Small Heart, Large & Small Oval punches, self-adhesive rhinestones. It took me a while to figure out this week's Retro Sketch #50 - all the different pieces and possibilities threw me! Eventually I figured that since I just did one embossed frame, I should go ahead and do the other one, too! I always struggle with color on overcast days, which it is around here this morning. It even rained! Sigh, so here's some rainy blue colors, with sparkles! Trying to see the brighter side! Blessings From Heaven & Madison Avenue stamp sets; Sycamore Street DSP; Pool Party, Whisper White & Island Indigo CS; Vine Street & Designer Frames embossing folders; Wide Oval punch; self-adhesive Rhinestones. Wow, this week's Clean & Simple 227 was like a total nightmare for me this week - I had to go literal again to make it! Even so, I ripped this sucker apart three times (yes, it DOES happen to me, too, shocking!) before I finally decided enough was enough - this is it! Let's eat cake! Make A Cake & Itty Bitty Banners stamp sets; Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade & Melon Mambo CS; Perfect Polka Dots & Designer Frames embossing folders; Bitty Banners framelits; Itty Bitty Flower punch; Silver embossing powder; self-adhesive rhinestones. When I saw this card by Erica Cerwin of Pink Buckaroo Designs, I pretty much dropped everything I was doing to CASE it - after my little Razzleberry Soliloquy the other day, how could I not? I had never seen chevron stripes done in opposing layers like this - and it was positively hypnotic! I have another version that has Shimmer Brads instead of the Rhinestones, but I like the Rhinestones better, I think... Thanks for sharing a brilliant card, Erica! Pretty Petites & Sweet Essentials stamp sets; Sycamore Street DSP; Rich Razzleberry & Whisper White CS; 1/4" Rich Razzleberry grosgrain; Apothecary Accents framelits; Fashionable Hearts embosslit; Petite Curly Label punch; self-adhesive Rhinestones. OK, my first "Best Of" stamp set came yesterday, (do you have your Collector's Card going yet??) and I had to break it in right away! Freshly Made Sketch #72 to the rescue! I wanted something simple, cheerful and maybe a little manly for the birthday card box, and this was where I landed. Can someone help me convince my hubby that rhinestones really are THE manly accessory of today? Thanks! Best of Birthdays stamp set; Patio Party DSP; Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Summer Starfruit & Midnight Muse CS; Natural Trim ribbon; Chevron embossing folder; Wide Oval punch; self-adhesive rhinestones. OK, I think I'm pretty straight-forward about my lukewarm feelings for color challenges, in general. I've been getting some mileage about how I know they're "good for me," and that they "help me stretch," but it's still a tough sell. Not so for this week's Paper Craft Crew Challenge #28! I LOVE LOVE LOVE purple and green together! Like BIG TIME! Yay! Since I love this combo so much, I decided to play the sketch pretty straight - I think this is the most literal interpretation of a card sketch I have ever done... From My Heart & Bloomin' Marvelous stamp sets; Subtles DSP pack; Whisper White, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi & Perfect Plum CS; Labels Collection framlits; Festive piercing pack; Corner Rounder punch; self-adhesive Pearls. |
