 Love this wild layout from Create With Connie & Mary #419! Lots of scope for fun, especially with the colors from In{k}spire Me #262! I really broke up the colors on this one, something I haven't tried before! What about the DSP being all one color, but all different patterns? Why not? I still can't get enough of my beautiful Thoughtful Branches Tree, and of course, I'm still smitten with the droll little sayings in Here For You - ahh, a perfect combo... I even stacked up the companion sentiment to this one on the inside!  Wow, check out this funky sketch from Retro Sketches #226! This one was a real stumper for me! I finally hit on using my Layering Ovals to achieve the curve repeats across the card front that I wanted, and I decided to go with basic black and white for that. Once I did that, I realized I had a little ready-made space for adding SOMETHING, and since I was already in B&W, I thought, her, is this when the skunk comes out?? Yup, this is my chance, lol. I found this little cherry DSP scrap to add a little touch of sweetness, too... Since I haven't played with them for that long, now's my chance to do some catching up! First to pick my combo: I went with In{k}spiration #80 and the Color Challenge #52, to go with the stamp set I have in mind! So, I made a tiny adjustment to the colors called for - the original color challenge called for Baja Breeze, which is now retired {SOB}, so I subbed in Pool Party. I think it works! I thought the layout would be perfect for a new stamp set called Think Happy, which features little clouds, happy and sad, and sweet accompanying sentiments. Today I went with a "sorry" card - mostly because I really wanted to use that swirly thunderhead cloud! Can you tell I'm so relieved that our monsoon season has started here in AZ??  Summer School is Winding Down! I'm so glad everyone has enjoyed playing catch up with our summer classes! Two classes remain, unless someone chimes in with anything else! There are still a couple weeks left to browse my past offerings, or describe to me something you remember us doing. Just email me which one you'd like to make up or repeat, and if you prefer day, evening or weekend. We'll schedule just for you, and work around your summer plans! No need to worry about being away for our regular class nights!  Our Fall/Halloween Clothespin Wreath Class is coming up! We'll be getting together on Saturday July 19, 3 pm to put this cutie together!  I'm sorry to say that we're approaching that time of year that strikes apprehension in the heart of every Stampin' Up! demo - I can see the end in sight for this year's catalog. It'll be OK - I tell myself that over and over - and there will be so many fun new things to play with - yay! But it also means that we'll be saying goodbye to some things, too, and speculation about what will make "the cut" is a topic if intense discussion on the demo boards, believe me. So, around now is when I start looking over my stamp shelves with an eye to give things a little more ink, that might be on their way out {sob.} Like this wonderful hostess set Carry On, which really OUGHT to get to stay after all the production issues at the start of this catalog.  Ack! This week's Fab Friday #02 sketch challenge was a COLOR challenge! Yikees! Luckily for me, Freshly Made Sketches recently published a retrospective of the last year's worth of sketches, so I had a good source to go to for the sketch side! Whew! Time for another Spanish card, I think. I'm pretty sure I'd forgive this snail for being late, he's so cuteand cheery! Well, and he's bearing gifts, too, that's a plus.
