Mojo Dahlia (& Cheer Class Instructions!)

OK, there are some seriously cute samples over at this week's Mojo Monday #372!  They sure helped me calm down a bit when I first viewed the sketch:  all the layers were a bit intimidating to me til I saw a few takes on it!
I decided the big circle element should be a flower, and one pretty one that hasn't been out to play lately has been the one in Regarding Dahlias.  Yay - fussy-cut time!  Since I also brought my Gold Soiree Specialty DSP, I decided to go all gold here with my details - classy!
Bonus Tip:  Have you noticed how many awesome little banner shapes we have now besides the Bitty Banner trio?  All the flip card thinlet sets seem to have their own.  Rather than dig through everything when I'm looking for just the right size, I have now moved all of them into my Bitty Banner sleeve for convenience (click the link to see what I mean, and go get some magnet sheets, lol) - give it some thought!
PS.  Thanks for a lovely class last night, ladies!  Here is the class sheet for "Spread Yoru Cheer: Christmas Packaging Class!"
Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set; Gold Soiree Specialty DSP; Whisper White, Garden Green & Pistachio Pudding CS; Calypso Coral & Versamark Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; Snowflake Thinlets; Gold Sequin Trim.

Merry Sunday Bliss

Sometimes I get the sensation that the various challenge blogs I frequent plot together - like this week's Merry Monday #131-Use Non-Traditional Colors and Sunday Stamps #87 colors!
I decided to stick with Merry Monday's tree theme, too, and pull out my Christmas Bliss set - yay for photopolymer!  My repeated theme along the bottom border of the card and envelope needed NO stamp-a-ma-jig!  Don't worry, SAMJ, you still have a special place in my heart - I'll never give you up!
Christmas Bliss Stamp Set; Cherry Cobbler, Tempting Turquoise & Whisper White CS; Cherry Cobbler, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight & Pumpkin Pie Inks; Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine; All Is Calm Snowflake Embellishment.

Christmas Cards 2014 Part 2 Class Sheet
Wanted to post a quick note putting up our second round of Christmas cards class sheet, so everyone can get to it if they need it - so much fun!  I know my house won't be sending out a single design for our cards this year, lol...
Also, I hope everyone enjoyed our Scarecrows, made from the new Curvy Keepsake Box framelits that we'll be using in our Gifts and Packaging next month!  These were CASE'd from the lovely Julie Edmonds, and you can find her tutorial here at her blog, Inkredible Stamping!  The White Chocolate Ginger Fortune Cookies came from World Market - they're putting out the Christmas candy already!  Woo hoo!
Last but not least, here is the Slow Cooker Caramel Pumpkin Cake recipe - yummo!

OK, I want to do something bright and cheery with this week's layout over at Retro Sketches #132!  The DT's samples are so HAPPY!
And you know what's bright and cheery?  A moose in long johns!  FINALLY I get to ink this cutie up - and what a riot he is, lol...  I had thought I would be using my blendas to give this boy his marching colors, but in the end I went with my aqua-painter - I do like this effect too.  So, moose-boy is being fancy because he has Christmas lights caught in his antlers - can you see them?  Geez, I crack myself up...
(PS.  I had so much fun at last night's Blendabilities class!  Hope you did, too!  As promised, here is the instruction sheet for those that track these things!!
Visions of Santa Stamp Set; Santa & Co DSP; Old Olive, Whisper White & Crumb Cake CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive Inks; Arrows Embossing Folder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones (colored with Cherry Cobbler Blenda!)

Nacho Work of Art (& Pop-Up Instructions!)

Wow, I'm really getting to pair up Nacho Average Challenge (#91) and Fab Friday (#42) a LOT this year!
This time, I decided to play with my new stamp set, Work of Art.  This is the one I received as part of my attendance at the catalog premiere event - and it's in wood!  It's funny, I really don't buy wood much anymore, except for the single stamps that I can't live without.  It was so bizarre putting it together!  When I was creating the background portion of this card with the chevron stamp, I had to use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, of course.  Let me tell you - it was so nice using wood-mounts with the SAMJ!  Very solid - no stamp popping off because my block isn't perfectly pristine!  Not quite nice enough to make me switch back from clear-mount, but maybe I'll clean up my blocks this afternoon, lol...
Work of Art stamp set; Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe & Whisper White CS; Summer Starfruit, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe & Pool Party Inks; Subtles Button in Pool Party; Calypso Coral Baker's Twine (shh!)

Also, we've finally finished our run of the pop-up card classes!  Yay!  I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it so much - it was a lot of fun!  For those that missed it, here's the instruction sheet for our Pop-Up Cards.
And for those who couldn't get enough snacks - here's the recipe for Fudgy Brownie Cups.  My only secret is that I actually only make 12 instead of 20 with the same size recipe - more fudgy brownie and more pastry - yum!  Start watching the oven at about 12 minutes, too...

Retro Sorbet Tag (& Wreath Notes!)

I know I usually have an instruction sheet to post after a class, but this time we stayed pretty true to what came in our Burlap & Blooms kits, so I only have a little Burlap & Blooms Tip Sheet.
I DID get to do some lovely tags as the class gift, based on this week's awesome Retro Sketch#103!  Using a sketch for class gifts doesn't usually happen for me, so it was fun to be able to use it!  Hopefully you'll be able to "re-tag" with these, lol...  And you know you want that Sweet Sorbet DSP - Sale-A-Bration is still on, you don't want to miss it!
You can find our awesome Flour-less and Butter-less Peanut Butter Cookies here at Our Best Bites - so super easy for such a yummy cookie!  Enjoy!
Petal Parade (SAB 2014) & Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Sahara Sand & Crisp Cantaloupe CS; Sweet Sorbet DSP; Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit & Pistachio Pudding Inks; Lareg Delicate Doilies Sizzlet; Bitty Banners Framelits; Corner Rounder, Itty Bitty, 1/2" & 1/4" Circle Punches; Pistachio Pudding Stretch Ruffle Trim; Basic Jewel Pearls & Jumbo Pearls.

Easy New Year's Treats

So what do you think of this cute New Year's treat from last night's Flip Calendar Class?  I totally CASE'd it from Laura Zaraza's Laura Z Stamps and my most favorite thing is how it uses our new Scalloped Tag Punch!  Woo-hoo!  I made up my measurements to hold one Hershey Nugget, but you could make it longer and stack two or more on top of each other.
I cut a 2" x 4" strip from the Silver Foil sheets, and scored on the long edge at 1 1/2" and 2 1/2".  Then I punched both ends with the Scallop Tag Punch, and tied closed with Silver Ribbon!  Too easy!
Here are the Flip Calendar Instructions from class as well!

I know everyone has been seeing the adorable little coffee cups out on the blogs - I couldn't help but love them!  They seemed like the perfect accessory for our Food Gifts class treats last night, too - just stuffed with Lindt chocolates!  So fun!
Here are the Food Gift class instructions - two-pager this time, 7 projects and lots of helpful hints, lol!
Also, here's a recipe sheet for tonight's Christmas Toffee Biscuits, adapted from my awesome upline Julie U!  I had to make it my own, but I'll never forget the day I first had this toffee at her house - total bliss!
4 oz Hot Cups w/lids, Webstaurant.com; Season of Style DSP; 5/8" Early Espresso Satin Ribbon; Frosted Finishes embellishments; 1/8" Silver Ribbon.

Pumpkin Patch!

I wanted to share a quick picture of this simple little pumpkin patch I put together for favors for our "Welcome" banner class last night - so much fun!  These are all made from the Round Tab punch (is this retired now?) with a little stem of grosgrain and a few leaves added.  I did a range of colors for fun, too:  Pumpkin Pie (of course!), Tangerine Tango and Cajun Craze.
Thanks, Brenda for our fancy cupcakes, as well - cute AND yummy!
Here are last night's Welcome Banner class instructions, such as they are, as well - enjoy!

Encore, Encore!

10/21/2013

So, after the awesome and inspiring Stampin' Up! convention this summer, I came home inspired to try some new things, both with my "business," and my activities.  As happens so often to me, an opportunity arose almost right away to put me to the challenge!
I was approached by Encore University ("Adventures in Lifelong Learning") about offering a couple short and easy classes for their students.  After some discussion, we matched me up in a fun suite of classes, called "Let Us Entertain You," that featured 5 different classes that cover a range of entertainment topics, from invites and favors (those were my offerings!) to table settings, cooking and flower arranging.
I decided I was game for it, and worked hard to be able to offer the classes for no fee, by using all retired materials, though current stamp sets.  If you're interested in the projects, they are pictured below, and here are the Simple Invites instructions, and the Simple Favors instructions.  Three basic invites with coordinating favors, in two classes, 1 hour each!  It was a blast!  I think they enjoyed it, and I'll wait to hear their feedback - a fun way to find a happy home for retired stock!

Thx Treats & Flip Instructions

In keeping with all things "flippin'," I had one last feature of the thinlet card sets that I didn't get to squeeze into the class - so I squeezed it onto a SUPER simple treat (we always have a bite of chocolate, right??)  The Label Card thinlet set features two 3-D banner shapes, that come all scored and ready for adding just the right touch of extra dimension to your projects.  In this case, I did a simple DSP and ribbon wrap on a Ghirardelli Square, and then added a popped-up banner on top, with a "thx" from the Circle Card thinlet set.  I had to show it ALL for this class!  The curvy banner is totally cool, too - perfect for holiday cards!
Here are tonight's Flip Class Instructions as well!
Label Card & Circle Card thinlets; Modern Medley DSP; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon; Very Vanilla & Cherry Cobbler CS.
