Lilypad Birthday

Our bright colors are yummy enough to stick a cocktail stick in at this week's Fab Friday #190!
I have to say right up front, though - these were a doozy for me! I'm not too proud to admit that I just never took much of a shine to Call Me Clover, lol, and it really throws off my eye! In the end, I went with this abstract color layout design, but using the fun squiggly lines from the soon-to-be-retiring Lilypad Lake. This set is a great one for using in unexpected ways, though the lake elements are amazing! I even added in a "bubble" effect with the moon element - dots always make me so happy!

I love our giant tag shape on this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday #458 sketch!
And that big old tag sent me straight to our super cute Bonanza Buddies - the dies for this one are amazing, and include a perfect stitched tag! I added all teh bells and whistles today - banners, twine, a fancy party hat, and the only guy chill enough to handle all this was the adorable little koala - he's so calm! I really brought the color today, too - a little more sunshine cheer, please!

Now that we're in a new month, it's time again for our new Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe #017! Yay!
I had a hard time choosing a row for this one! I finally settled on the top one - Birthday, CAS and Green. Then I decided to pull in my Ride With Me set - so sad this one is retiring, but happy to see that the truck looks just as cute in green as in red, lol. I kept it simple for the CAS brief, but couldn't resist a few green stars to go with, too. So fun!

Shake, shake, shake! We've given you the perfect layout to try your hand at a shaker card with our sketch, too, this week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #456!
I decided to step up to the plate and make this tropical lovely, and use up some gorgeous sequins I won at a blog challenge a while back from Pretty Pink Posh. I have a ton of fun colors, so I did a mix of them for today, and I figured these tropical fruits would make the perfect frame for them! With all this going on, how could the birthday NOT be memorable?

Gatefold Vases

Excellent! The Sisterhood of Crafters is running a birthday challenge this week - whee! We can add a fancy fold if we want, too!
Well, I will rise to the task! How about a landscape gatefold? I can do math - I can! Lol. I pulled in some pretty paper from the Best Dressed DSP pack to help with colors, then stamped and colored from there. I was sad to see that this fun bundle, STILL a fave of mine is on the retiring list this year, sigh, so I had to get in a little more play time with it! Still so cute!

Very nice - In{k}spire Me #419 has a sweet summery combo for us to play with this week!
I have to be honest, I was really freaked out by these colors, lol - I really wasn't at all sure I'd be able to pull them in! Then I got to thinking about our old Swirly Birds set, and the awesome squiggle dies that came with it, Swirly Scribbles. I decided to see if that could be a low-key way to layer all these colors together, and it really paid off, I think! My card is really more of an abstract version of the sketch, I guess, but a cool way to tone down what could have been Grapefruit overload, lol. Yay!

Bye Bye Broadway!

Our sketch this week is pretty as a present at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #455, don't you think? I think that makes it perfect for a birthday for SU Only #248, too!
Now that we have the retiring list to look over in SU! land, I'm revisiting some departing sets that I know I will miss, sigh. Broadway Birthday has been around for a couple catties now, so it's not that surprising to see it go, but boy, I'll sure miss it anyway, especially the gorgeous dies that go with! Such a playful set, it cries out for bright party colors, always, lol.

Here's a nice cheery theme at this week's As You See It #223 - rainbow!
I can't really help but be cheered by a rainbow, and even more fun is to do a prowl looking for a stamp set to "rainbow-ize," lol. Pigs? Steaks? Adirondacks? The choices are endless! I finally settled on my way-underused Music From the Heart set - a little rainbow run of notes is just the right amount of color without bashing anyone over the head, and is still cheery and playful. And quick, too! I think it took me longest to open and close all my stamp pads, lol.

Now here's a theme I don't do too often - The Sisterhood of Crafters is calling for kid's cards this week!
At least it FINALLY gives me no excuse to not break out my cutie-patootie lion from Bonanza Buddies! As is typical of me, this little guy was the whole reason I got this suite, so I of course haven't even inked him up yet, lol. But today is that day! Yes! I went for the slightly wrong color combo when I did - I mixed Daffodil Delight and Grapefruit Grove instead of Mango Melody, but I like this combo, too! I kept the design fairly simple again, except that I also love this stitched tag that's part of the Bonanza Dies - so I had to use that, too! Fun times!

So excited for our mix-it-up this month at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #453! I'm squeezing in some embossing, too, for SU Only #247!
So this might sound a little weird, but when I think "luscious," MY mind goes straight to food, lol. So when I went stamp hunting, I focused on food images, and when I spotted these yummy donuts, I knew I had to use them, lol. Mmmm - custard filling! Sprinkles! So yummy! Lol, I also used my favorite embossing folder for my background, too - after all this time, Large Polka Dots is still the one - I can never have too many dots!
