Simple Pennants

Be still, my heart! It's that time of year again - a big reveal for the upcoming 2014 Occasions Catalog and Sal-A-Bration, formerly known as the "Spring Mini!" Perfect timing from Clean & Simple #270 to help me showcase some of my sneak peek purchases, too.Oh my stars and flowers, you're going to LOVE these catalogs, I found things I MUST have on every page!
This sweet card, which I'm classifying under "Get Well," shows off my starters: a beautiful new stamp set called "Perfect Pennants," which has 10 awesome new phrases and decorations for us; a gorgeous new DSP called Sweet Sorbet, from Sal-A-Bration, that makes me want to dig out my spoon; and yes, folks, a perfect new framelit set called Banners, of 6 nested banner shapes! Do you hear what I hear? (Wait, wrong song!) This week's In{k}spire Me #125 has a new Christmas song for us - "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town! Yay! I have the Bruce Springstein version running through my head right now, lol...
So, weirdly, doing a search of my stamps for Santa images didn't take long - I don't have many! The one I liked best that I found was this vintage image from the retired Christmas Punch set - {blush!} Oh well - loved it when I first got it, and still do! Always fun to play with the inchies!

7-Layer Noel Tag!

Oh goodie - time for another Holiday Pumpkin at My Pumpkin Challenge! For this one, I decided to whip up a snazzy tag for a bottle of bubbly - an always welcome party gift when one is making the rounds!
I started by cutting down the pennant shape of the pre-printed Noel sentiment, and then just decided to see how many layers I could build up that coordinated! Turns out, quite a few! If you count my sparkly red star on top (and I DO, of course!) I can fit on SEVEN layers! The sweet little punched star garland makes for a perfect hanging sash, ready for any kind of bottled goodness to share!

I fiddled around quite a bit with this week's Sunday Stamps #64. In the end, I decided less was more! I cheated a little - my "any shape" is also doubling as my sentiment, and once I chose that, I couldn't help but think of all the wrapping ahead of me, lol... So, that's what I saw - a sweet gift, all wrapped and ready for giving! Jolly indeed!

This week's Freshly Made Sketch #115 was almost TOO wide open for ideas! Good grief, I switched gears like 4 times, lol... In the end, I decided to stretch my color pallet again, with what was suggested after leafing through the Venetian Romance DSP collection. I LOVE the color washes on some of these sheets - perfect for setting off with bright streaks of complementary color - it's romantic, all right!

Can you believe that I had a Christmas stamp I hadn't used yet, but, after decorating our tree today, I'm a bit burnt on Christmas? What's a stamper to do about that?!
Well, I made a graduation card instead, lol...
I totally loved the color combo suggested at this week's Nacho Average Challenge #66 - it reminds me of that old In Color set we had when I first came to Stampin' Up! Let's see, ummmmm, Groovy Guava, Blue Bayou, and of course, our resurrected Soft Sky!! I hoarded my Soft Sky all this time, too, lol... Good times...

And now for something completely different (for me, anyway!) This week's Clean & Simple #269 offered some intriguing possibilities - oh gosh, it was so hard to not do more snowflakes! However, I started thinking about what white and green we see here in Arizona - up on the Rim of course! It's actually already snowed a few times there, lol... So out came my trusty Lovely As A Tree - Stampin' Up!'s longest running stamp set, and still going strong! I think I might have to break down and get it in clear-mount, we didn't have that when I first got mine, can you believe that??

Retro Fab Wreath

Looky, looky - one last chance in 2013 to combine some challenges! Lucky sketches are this week's Fab Friday #32, and Retro Sketches #92! I'm so glad the Retro Sketch came along - I was really getting stumped by Fab Friday's color challenge this time, too...
The floating shape in Retro Sketch suggested an opportunity to pull out the wreath again - yay! I wasn't too sure about the color combo, as I said, but I love it now that it's done! You know, I've never really taken to Gumball Green til now - I finally realized that my pad was too dry, so it had always felt like I didn't get good coverage. A good dose of re-inker has cured me! Embarrassing that it took me so long, lol...
