I know we're spoiled here in Arizona. Especially in winter. I think about it every time I say to myself, "Gosh, it's only 65 degrees, I better grab my scarf!" I think my skin gets thinner every year I'm here! So today, winter in AZ looks like a dreary drizzly day - rain is such a novelty here! When I saw Freshly Made Sketch #65, I realized it was a perfect day to break in one of my Spring Mini catalog sets, called Rain or Shine - pretty appropriate, right? And of course, the new embossing folder Cloudy Day had to come out, too... Stay warm and dry friends! Break out the eggnog! Rain or Shine stamp set; Whisper White & Pool Party CS; More Amore Specialty DSP; Raspberry Ripple, So Saffron & Chocolate Chip inks; Cloudy Day embossing folder; self-adhesive rhinestones.

I have really struggled with having graduation stamp sets (and cards!) when I need them - seems like whenever I get around to buying one, it retires! This year, I didn't wait, and I finally snapped up this one last month... Clean & Simple #220 was the PERFECT layout for it, too! I may go back and make a couple versions! So anyway, this card is for my friend Sky, who's long-anticipated graduate commencement is this weekend - yay! As soon as I heard she was "walking," (her son and his girlfriend are flying in especially!) I knew I had to use this sentiment! Congrats, Sky! Now we can get back to partying on the weekends, right?? Pure Gumption stamp set; Whisper White & Pool Party CS; Silver Glimmer paper; Print Poetry DSP stack; Large Star (retired) & Scallop Trim Border punches; Basic Black & Midnight Muse inks. Here's a quick shot of my weird little present for my ladies this week - our last class of the year {sob}! Everyone got a little bottle of citrus handwash - to remind you of all the ink and glue I like us all to wear! And glitter - can't forget that! Anyway, these little bottles are decorated with a few items from the upcoming Sal-A-Bration catalog - which everyone also got their own copy of! The DSP is called Sycamore Street - another great one! And the little tags are from a cute little new stamp set called Pretty Petites, using an AWESOME new coordinating punch - the brand new Petite Curly Label! Word on the street is that the punch will carry over to the new catty - because there's another stamp set that goes with it in the Spring Mini! Weeeee! So, anyway, Merry Christmas, my friends! Thank you for all your love and support, and see you back in class on January 17! Oop, and here are tonight's Holiday Gifts instructions as well! And for those who asked, here's the recipe for the Edamame Hummus we enjoyed - yum! Angela at Oh She Glows is my new favorite food site - so many things I want to try! I foresee lots of hummus in my future! Maybe we should all have Green Monsters sometime, too! And to go with our yummy pizzelles, I recommend the Homemade Nutella Spread from our fine ladies at Our Best Bites! Another winner! OK, I have time to slip in one little card sketch this week - I really let them slide while I got our Christmas gifts class all ready to go! This was especially hard for me, because my pre-order of Spring Mini catalog and Sal-A-Bration items has been sitting here calling my name all week! What a great time to sneak in Retro Sketches #41! This stamp set, All Dressed Up, is teh cutest thing ever - and guess what?? It comes with it's OWN FRAMELIT SET! With the dress stand, different style dresses - ah, I'm in heaven! I sense future stamp sets coming as well, with snazzy dress changes! Woo! All Dressed Up & Carry On stamp sets; Dress Up framelits; Designer Frames embossing folder; Sycamore Street DSP; Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango & Whisper White CS; Rich Razzleberry ink & grosgrain ribbon; self-adhesive rhinestones. One of the first things to catch my eye in this year's Holiday Mini catalog was the picture featuring the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Fabric, that showed a cute little pine tree all wrapped up and ready for giving (page 4!) But here in the Valley of the Sun, I think we're more into cactus, and wouldn't you know it, there's even one just for Christmas, LOL! This was one of my grandmother's favorite holiday plants, and I thought they'd be a sweet finish to our gifts class! A little spot of brightness for the winter! I can't wait to see you all on Thursday, and celebrate the season with you! See you soon! As a newly-minted parent-of-a-teenager, it has been made very (VERY) clear to me that THE gift of choice from the 'rental units is gift cards. And not from Starbucks as shown in my sample, sigh. I-Tunes, Amazon, Justice, yes. Starbucks? Sur la Table? Not so much. Ah well. (See how I dropped in my own sneaky preferences there? I'm so sneaky...) I figure if we must succumb to the siren call of the ubiquitous gift card, we can still satisfy our creative callings by dressing them up a bit! This year's well-dressed gift card will come in this simple - but always cute! - "latched" card holder - which still has room for a heart-felt note (perhaps of warning on what NOT to spend it on? Just sayin'...) on the inside. We CAN have it all! Santa wants it that way, too! Almost to the end of the Gifts Class offerings - can't wait to see you all! Gift #4 for the December 13 Gifts Class is this catchy little windowed cookie box - complete with a dozen homemade pizzelle cookies for you to munch or give away! (We're having Orange Pecan with Cranberry pizzelles this year, by the way - they ARE in there, I swear~!) I really wanted us to do a windowed box so we could use those awesome flocked window sheets that came in the Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP this year - I can never quite figure out how to use them on cards, but they are MADE for windowed boxes and treats! This simple box is a great introduction on how to make any size box and lid to suit your fancy - in a snap! Maybe you'll make different sized cookies to give away than I did, or ooo, CHOCOLATE, yes! Or, ahem, Peanut Butter Meltaways that come here from a certain neighbor we know, or cream-filled Ladylocks, or Macarons, or, well, see how we are about cookies around here? The more, the merrier! OK, let's just put it out there - Stampin' Up! makes SUCH awesome fabric, and I keep buying it, and, well, uh, what do I do with it now? Ladies, this is the year we're going to tackle the Designer Fabric! That's my New Year's resolution for sure! As a warm up for my (our!) shiny new resolution to use fabric more in 2013 is this tasty little cup cozy, adjustable to fit any cup size of your choice! This project uses last year's holiday fabric called Candy Cane Christmas, still available in the Clearance Rack. Yes, that is actual machine stitching you see, I will walk you through it - it's a snap! And did anyone notice how I only picked buttons that have 2 holes, so you don't have to wrestle with 4? See how I love you? Don't forget - RSVP if you haven't already! Here's another of the six projects we'll be doing in our "Gifts" class next week - a dramatic Tulle Flower Pin a la Laura Haffke of La Dee Dah Day! Our version is a bit simplified, but if you want to study up by watching her video ahead of time, make sure to go check it out at the link above! The pin will have this accompanying gift box as well, with its own small tag, so you have a gift all set to go! You'll be able to do your pin in Crumb Cake, as shown, or in Cherry Cobbler... Super simple - I promise! We're going to have so many awesome projects in our last class of the year next week that I thought I'd show off some of the individual projects for you to get a better look. So, here's our first "Gifts" project - a set of Four Fancy Tags, in a Fancy Favor box, to use or give as a sweet little gift! As you can see, they feature the Scentsationally Yours stamp set as well - cute cute cute! And a snap to put together with the awesome framelit set that goes with! There's more to see, but don't forget to RSVP for Thursday, December 13, 6:30 pm! |
