Look at this "magical" sketch from Retro Sketch #189 today! You just know I have to match it up with In{k}spire Me #223's festive colors! I decided to go for some Peaceful Pine action today - Hard not to with that Garden Green, lol. Now that I'm done, I feel like maybe this card is missing something, hm... Maybe I should have embossed the white layer. Still, this is growing on me! I love the "painted" look from the Season of Cheer DSP pack too - this is from a pack I got at convention over the summer. I remember thinking it was nice to be given one because I didn't think I'd get it for myself, but of course, I'm already on my second pack now - naturally! Peaceful Pines Stamp Set; Season of Cheer DSP; Garden Green, Smoky Slate & Whisper White CS; Garden Green & Smoky Slate Inks; Perfect Pines Framelits; Regals Buttons in Garden Green; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; Silver Cording Trim. Holiday Gifts Class 2015 on Nov 12 & 14! Yay! I'm so glad it's finally time for our final holiday class of the year - my annual holiday gifts and packaging class! You'll be making a set of 10 unique tags, 3 fancy-pantsy shaker cards, three square pillow boxes, and two vellum ornament stars. Did I mention the holiday cheer that goes on, too? Here's a modern looking sketch from Can You Case It #94 - it'll look great matched up with Create With Connie & Mary #180's bright colors! This seemed like another great chance to pull out my Embellished Ornaments set - these guys are SO pretty! I always swear I won't get anymore ornaments (or snowflakes OR snowmen, lol) and then the Mother Ship comes out with another I-can't-live-without-it design - grrr! Anyway, this card came together pretty quick, and I finally got to open a new roll of my Real Red Cotton Ribbon, now that I finally used up my old 1/4" grosgrain roll. See, sometimes I'm cheap like that! And I don't want the other grosgrains to know, but I really do love the cotton ribbon so much more. Shh... Embellished Ornaments & Jingle ll the Way Stamp Sets; Merry Moments DSP; Whisper White & Basic Black CS; Real Red, Smoky Slate & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Delicate Ornament Thinlets; Real Red Cotton Ribbon; Brights Candy Dots in Real Red; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. So, I'm at a weird juncture right now where pretty much ALL my fave challenges are doing colors at the same time. Yikees! I need a sketch! So I went hunting and found this cute new-to-me challenge - Match This Sketch #97. I'm pairing it with the sunny colors at this week's SU-per Challenge #111. It took me a little bit to pull this one together. I finally resorted to browsing my DSP stash for the right colors, and then realized I could go all birthday on this one. Bonus points for pulling in my Birthday Bundle stamp set from Paper Pumpkin, too - that little balloon is so handy! In the end, I think I totally LOVE this happy card! The accompli is fait! Birthday Bundle Paper Pumpkin & Sprinkles on Top Stamp Sets; Cherry On Top & Schoolhouse DSP; Whisper White & Smoky Slate CS; Bermuda Bay & Smoky Slate Inks; Large Delicate Doilies Sizzlet (retired); Banner Punch; Brights Candy Dots in Bermuda Bay; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Let's try it with Nacho Average Challenge #166's cute fall colors! So what do you know? I don't feel like DSP today! So there! Of course, I'm always in the mood for coloring, lol, so let's go with that! I decided that the gorgeous flower from You've Got This would be the perfect vehicle for the colors - room for everyone to play, so to speak. Then I brought out my stacked Greetings Thinlets again - I'm so addicted to that now - and some more corner fun with my trusty Curvy Corner Trio. I should also mention that this card right here holds my very last three SAB 2015 Mossy Meadow buttons, {SOB.} Farewell, my valiant little greenies. I'll miss you all. You've Got This Stamp Set; Whisper White, Tangelo Twist & Mossy Meadow CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Mossy Meadow, Daffodil Delight & Tangelo Twist Inks; Curvy Corner Trio & PL Corner Rounder Punches; Greetings Thinlets; SAB 2015 Buttons in Mossy Meadow; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Stamp, Ink Paper #21 has a clean and simple Christmas challenge going this week! It's going to look so cute paired with Merry Monday #178's red and gold challenge! So, yesterday I just finished making the sample cards from the To You and Yours Shaker Cards kit, and I noticed something: there's a stamp in the accompanying set that we DON'T use! Gasp! (Unless you go rogue, which is certainly allowed in my classes - you just have to live with your choices, as I've been wont to say, lol.) So I got the idea to use that lonesome stamp on today's card. It occurs to me that this skyline silhouette would go great with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits, too, but that's a card for another day! So I dithered a bit trying figure out how I would feature the landscape, and this is what I hit on! I added a few details for some extra gold touches, but I really like how it came out! Now, if only I could tie bows straight, lol... To You and Yours Too Stamp Set; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Gold Foil Sheets; Real Red & Encore Gold Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; 1 3/4" Circle Punch; Circles Collection Framelits; Metallics Sequins; Real Red 1/8" Taffeta; Gold Metallic Thread. Time for a fun sketch from Retro Sketch #188! And I think I'll make this another triple, too - twice in one week has to be a record for me! So, I'm also adding Can You Case It #93's fall theme, and Sunday Sketch Challenge #113's colors are perfect to go with!
I landed on a Acorny Thank You to carry all my challenges this time - I love making dressy little acorns! It's like I get to pick a hat for Thanksgiving instead of Easter, lol... I added a few more coordinating details with Into The Woods Elements and Soft Suede Candy Dots (how is it I have two open packs of Regals Candy Dots, but ZERO Island Indigo ones? I don't even like Island indigo that much, shh.) I think I've achieved a kind of Masculine Thanksgiving card - yay! Acorny Thank You Stamp Set; Botanical Gazette DSP (retired); Champagne Glimmer Paper; Soft Suede, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla CS; Soft Suede, Early Espresso & Island Indigi Inks; Acorn Builder & Banner Punches; Circles Collection Framelits; Woodland Embossing Folder; Into The Woods Elements; Regals Candy Dots in Soft Suede. We're VERY excited about our new Paper Pumpkin kits this month - Blissful Bouquet. How'd you like that pink box?? This month's theme seems to go well with it: My Pumpkin Challenge #1115 - Share A Caring Thought! Let's jump in: something that has totally captivated me about this kit are the DSP shapes that have accent stamps to match. I get to stamp on the DSP, and CHANGE it?! Wicked cool! I really have no idea why I'm so excited by this, but I think it's the coolest idea ever, lol. I'm starting my test drive with the leafy square - yes! So cool that we have two shapes for that, and I also picked out some gold details with the leftover bits on the gold foil leaf frond. This was a simple, fast and fun little project today - a perfect pumpkin moment! We can't wait to see what caring thoughts you have to share - come on over! Blissful Bouquet Paper Pumpkin; plus, Sahara Sand, Old Olive & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Hello Honey & Old Olive (on envelope flap) Inks; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Gold Basic Metal Buttons. The stars are out at this week's In{k}spire Me #222! Rather than stars, I went with snowflakes...
I explored a couple things I don't work with very often on this card. The first big one is the vellum. I'm so particular about having adhesive not show through, that I often end up just not using it - it's hard to be that strategic all the time! I don't know why I immediately decided to float the vellum over Basic Black - now THAT'S a recipe for showing everything, lol! But I persevered, and tossed on some extra sequins, and I think I did a reasonable job. The final card maybe looks a little frou-frou for me, but at least I got to play with my Snowflake Elements, too! Flurry of Wishes Stamp Set; Winter Wonderland Vellum Stack; Champagne Glimmer Paper; Whisper White & Basic Black CS; Encore Gold Ink; Gold Embossing Powder; Banner Punch; Snowflake Elements; 1/8" Gold Ribbon; Metallics Sequins. I can't believe I'm about to attempt this, but I think I'll try to put together THREE challenges in this card! Yikes! First up is Just Add Ink #286's unusual "Anything With a W" challenge. Then we have colors from SU-per #110. If all goes as I hope, this will all be wrapped into this cute sketch from Create With Connie & Mary #379 - whew!
A quick scan of my stampin' shelves quickly suggested a pretty literal interpretation of the JAI challenge - hm, I have a big happy alphabet just sitting there! I quickly paired it with Bravo, and then started playing with circle punches for CCMC, lol. I knew I wanted to keep it clean and simple - splashes of color on white, but I got a little distracted by the realization that I had buttons on hand in all the colors, so I caved and added those, too, for SU-per. Whew, again! I made it! Epic Alphabet & Bravo Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Tangelo Twist & Elegant Eggplant CS; Tangelo Twist & Elegant Eggplant Inks; 1 3/4", 1 12/" & 1 1/4" Circles, and PL Corner Rounder Punches; Buttons in Basic Black (Neutrals), Elegant Eggplant (Regals) & Tangelo Twist (SAB 2015); White Baker's Twine. I really like the sketch at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #210! The phrase "any shape" really gets me going, lol...
I started today's design by browsing stamp sets. What could I use for my "any shape?" Leaves? Flowers? Stars? Hold on a sec, how about cupcakes?? We have a winner! I haven't used my beloved Sprinkles of Life set for a while, so I had to use THAT cupcake, and I also decided to turn the sketch sideways - I really don't make that many landscape cards any more. I had fun playing with chocolate and frosting colors, and then adding sprinkles - for the last touch, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment on the inside. I'm so hungry now... Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set; Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, So Saffron, Soft Sky & Pink Pirouette Inks; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Tree Builder & Banner Punches; Early Espresso Baker's Twine; Subtles Candy Dots in Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz & Calypso Coral.
