Sunday Reindeer

Here's a cute sketch from Sunday Stamps Challenge #114!  I'm matching this one today with Merry Monday #180 - use a reindeer!
This year, I actually have a selection of reindeer to choose from - and that's not counting my beloved retired Prancer!  We have a vintage one in our Season of Cheer DSP; some awesome new edgelits to make a tableau, and of course this happy guy from Santa's Gifts.  You know I'm always up for "color and cut" job, lol, so of course I picked the one from Santa's Gifts!  I added a couple details (recognize those sequins?  Leftover from the shaker card kit!) but kept it pretty simple.  We'll let the reindeer do the talking!
Santa's Gifts Stamp Set; Merry Moments DSP; Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler & Chocolate Chip Inks; Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Ovals Collection Framelits; Banner Punch; Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon; Shaker Card Sequins.

Another cute slanted sketch from this week's Retro Sketch #190!  This week I get to match it up with the fun color challenge over at Can You Case It #95!
When I saw the yellow and brown challenge at CYCI, I immediately thought of my gorgeous Watercolor Wings stamp set - I can't believe I haven't used it in so long!  I always have fun building butterflies with this one, though this one is a pretty conventionally colored one, lol.  It took me just a little to get my slanty ribbon fastened down well, and to make sure it doesn't slide around.  Dimensionals are our FRIENDS, lol.
Watercolor Wings Stamp Set; Farmers Market DSP; Very Vanilla & Early Espresso CS; Early Espresso, Delightful Dijon & Chocolate Chip Inks; Bold Butterfly Framelits; Circle Card Thinlets; 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Early Espresso; Gold Baker's Twine; Neutrals Candy Dots in Chocolate Chip.

Burnished Blossoms

I'm so thrilled we're at week three of My Pumpkin Challenge #1115 - Share A Caring Thought!  AND, so excited to match it with this week's TGIF #29!
I haven't really been using the kit supplies on this one, have I?  Lol, let me see if I can just dip my toe in, at least!  I decided to cut up the pretty washed panel the kit provided, to make my sidebar.  I did some stamping, but then realized I wanted more dimension, so I stamped on my scrap piece left over to do some contrasted blossoms.  I also decided to try my hand at something I've been seeing a bit for this kit - playing with "burnishing" the BACK of my cutout to add some shape and curl to my flowers.  Neat trick!  I used my scoring tool from my score-board, but an even larger one would look smoother and more defined, I think.  Totally trying this on something else, too!
Tip:  if you want to give it a try, work in little circular motions to minimize creating a "scratched" appearance on your paper surface.
Blissful Bouquet Paper Pumpkin; plus, Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive & Crushed Curry Inks; Curvy Corner Trio Punch; Basic Jewel Rhinestones.

I love these "side-justified" sketches - yay In{k}spire Me #224!  I think I'll match it with the yummy tropical colors of SU-per Challenge #112!  It's funny, the layouts are actually pretty similar, too, hm...
These colors sent me to a birthday card today, and wouldn't you know, I just happened to have an un-inked stamp set on my desk with a big circle shape in it - Circle of Spring!  I am SO thrilled that the Mother Ship has produced so many different stamp sets for the Wonderful Wreath framelit set - and that they're so AWESOME!  Trying this one out with these colors was quite the challenge, lol, but I love the touches of gold throughout!
Circle of Spring Stamp Set; Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay & Watermelon Wonder CS; Champagne Glimmer CS; Watermelon Wonder & Memento Gold Ink; Gold Embossing Powder; Gold Metallic Marker; 1 1/4 Circle & Scallop Trim Border (retired) Punches; Wonderful Wreath Framelits; Spring Flowers Embossing Folder; Gold Sequin Trim.

Cucumber Bike!

Here's another awesome sketch from Create With Connie & Mary #381!
I tried to think of today's sketch in terms of what could be going on in the background - how about a tree??  Sheltering Tree is one my all-time favorite stamp sets, I have to admit.  All the right little bits for ANY season, lol.  I popped out my usual tree accessories onto the circles instead of flowers.  Don't you just have to have a Cucumber Crush bike now??  I'd definitely give thanks for that!  This was a fun one to put together, especially since we don't really get turning leaves here in Arizona.  The cacti don't really change colors, lol.
Sheltering Tree Stamp Set; Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso, Whisper White & Tangelo Twist CS; Early Espresso, Delightful Dijon, Tangelo Twist & Cucumber Crush Inks; 5/8" Satin Ribbon in Early Espresso; Linen Thread; 1 3/8 & 1 1/2" Circle Punches; Regals Button in Cajun Craze.

Back to Christmas cheer for me with Just Add Ink #288's fun sketch!
I just love this new stamp set, Peaceful Pines, and of course, it always thrills me when there's a matching framelit set, too!  I knew as soon as I saw this sketch that I was throwing those stars out the window - snowflakes came close, but I really wanted trees!  I matched with a little strip of DSP from Season of Cheer to help set the scene, too, and then just played with a few extra details.  I'm a desert gal now, for sure, but I love REMEMBERING cold seasons of the past, lol!
Peaceful Pines Stamp Set; Season of Cheer DSP; Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Whisper White & Mossy Meadow CS; Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz & Cherry Cobbler Inks; Star & Corner Rounder Punches; Softly Falling Embossing Folder; Perfect Pines Framelits; Metallics Sequins; Basic Jewel Rhinestones.

I really like the tiled layers at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #212!
Since I'm pretty much all-Christmas-all-the-time right now in my studio, I think I'll take this chance to squeeze out another Thanksgiving card, lol.  That totally means Thankful Forest Friends gets to come out and play!  I'm slowly using up every last scrap of my favorite sheets from the Into the Woods DSP I like to pair it with, too.  Sob.  I had fun snipping out the little critters, and I also decided to piece my sentiment with Endless Thanks, to make it fit my banner better.  I really like how it came out!
Thankful Forest Friends, Endless Thanks & Woodgrain (retired) Stamp Sets; Into The Woods DSP; Old Olive, Tangelo Twist & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Tangelo Twist & Old Olive Inks; Star & Corner Rounder Punches; Brights Candy Dots in Tangerine Tango (you can't really tell, right?  Shh!)

COOL sketch at Nacho Average Challenge #167 - I think it will go awesome with our fun color challenge over at Fab Friday #77!  Let's toss in Stamp Ink Paper #22's Free for Fall theme, too!
First order of business was to find a circle I could make work for this sketch, lol.  Thankfully, I had the scallop circle in the Circles Collection framelits on hand, whew.  After that it was just a matter of finding various elements in the right colors!  I love this DSP, and when I hear "Fall," I just can't stay away from my Vintage Leaves set, lol.  This turned out to be a fun and quirky card!
Vintage Leaves Stamp Set; Farmers Market DSP; Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze & Blackberry Bliss CS; Basic Black Archival, Cajun Craze & Hello Honey Inks; Circles Collection & Leaflets Framelits; Seasonal Frame Thinlets; Pretty Print Embossing Folder; SAB 2015 Buttons in Blackberry Bliss; Basic Jewel Rhinestones.

Let It Snow!

Oh goodness - it's a pink, green and white challenge at this week's Merry Monday #179!  Yikes!  Time to dive in!
After surveying my prospects, I decided to take some tiny liberties.  Coral is in the pink family, right?  So that makes Calypso Coral fair game, and Calypso Coral likes Pear Pizzazz, lol.  This idea came about when I was digging through some retired DSP scraps, and I found these pieces from the 2014 SAB paper Best Year Ever - I remember thinking it looked like snow then, lol.  This is also my photographic confession that yes, I did get that stinkin' Snow Place set too, dang it.  I couldn't help it, it was the gosh-darned framelits that did me in, lol...  These will be my very last snowmen, ever, I swear!  (At least until NEXT year's holiday catty, sigh.)  GrrRRrr!
Snow Place Stamp Set; Best Year Ever DSP (retired); Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper; Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Pear Pizzazz & Calypso Coral Inks; Snow Friends Framelits; Sleigh Ride Edgelits; Pear Pizzazz Cotton Ribbon.

Just Add A Pumpkin Frond

11/11/2015

Already at week two of My Pumpkin Challenge #1115 - Share A Caring Thought!  I'm excited to try a fall version of my Pumpkin kit inspired by Just Add Ink #287's colors!
When I saw the inspiration pic at Just Add Ink, I knew I'd be focusing on my "frond" stamps, I just wasn't sure how!  I ended up using a VERY basic layout, so I could really highlight the color pops I hoped to bring out.  Then I got a little stuck.  Should I sponge?  Mist?  Ah ha!  I still have my "spritzer!"  A long time ago, Stampin' Up! used to have this "spritzer" tool, that you could insert a marker into, and with a quick puff of air pumped by hand, get a little splatter of ink.  Oh, the messes I used to make!  They were epic!  Of course, there's a reason I don't use the mister too much, too, lol...  After I stamped my leaves over my spritzed square, I wanted to add even more fall color, so I aqua-painted my fronds for the final effect.  A few touches of gold, and we're set!
So, how's your Pumpkin this month?  I think it wants to come play!
Blissful Bouquet Paper Pumpkin; Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso & Whisper White CS; Early Espresso, Delightful Dijon, Cajun Craze & Tangelo Twist Inks; Early Espresso 1/4" Grosgrain (retired.)
