Crafty Hanukkah

OK, I know I said no "more" sketch challenge blogs, but this week's Paper Craft Crew #16 was talking to me - I figured it would be just plain rude not to talk back!
I saw that big circle and thought, oo, that big circle shape in my Jewish Celebrations set would be PERFECT for this layout!  And since my Jewish friends wiped me out of Hanukkah cards at Mountainview this weekend (thanks, Tyla and Suzanne!) I figured I'd better start restocking!  Plus, um, I haven't even started the house cards this year.  Shocking, I know!  Every little bit helps at this point!

Jewish Celebrations stamp set; Brocade Blue (retired) and Brushed Silver Specialty CS; Festival of Prints DSP; Scallop Edge Border punch; Silver embossing; self-adhesive pearls.

Fresh Thanksgiving

Wow, this morning's Sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #61 was a double challenge for me today!  I wanted to find a way to not only make this dramatic sketch have some extra pop, but I needed to pull it together in the only half-hour I expect to have to myself today, LOL!
I think I made it!
Lovely As A Tree is one Stampin' Up's! longest running stamp sets - it was originally designed by Shelli's sister, I believe...  It needs to see more ink in my world, I figure, and with Thanksgiving on the brain, this is where I landed!
Lovely As A Tree & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Soft Suede, More Mustard & Very Vanilla CS; Orchard Harvest DSP; 7/8" Natural Cotton ribbon; 1/4" Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon; Word Window punch.

So, here's a go at making my OWN DSP - by taking a stamp and creating a repeating pattern - fun, huh?  I like this leaf, it reminds me of bold textiles we see these days...

This is another card CASE, this time of Tara Bazata - make sure to visit her site!

Setting up for Mountainview this afternoon - I'm going crazy!  Should be a good time, with LOTS of c

Clean & Simple Greetings

Well, well, well, Clean & Simple #216 turned out to be a tidy little geometry lesson in this house!  Good grief!
This is, of course, a simple little sketch, and a great one for showing off a particularly awesome DSP, perhaps - like one of the many awesome choices we have this year!  BUT, I really wanted to pay homage to the scalloped elements of the sketch - even though we could have skipped them.  And since I have the Scallop Trim Border punch, with the corner punch that goes with it, I figured I could go for it that way.  Woo, what a journey!  At least now I have a little sizing cheat sheet in my arsenal!
To go with this cute little Christmas card, I figured I should go ahead and put out some date feelers for our last two classes of the year.  I'm totally engrossed in getting ready for next weekend's Holiday Gift Show at Mountainview Presbyterian, and then we have Thanksgiving - yikes!  So here's my plan:  November 29, 6:30 pm will be an Ornaments Class, with 4 different types of ornaments.  Then, our last class of the year will be December 13 (with wiggle room if I hear from you about it!) for a last minute Gift Class.  This class will be for 6 gifts and treat containers, for all your holiday travels!  I'll have pictures shortly after the Mountainview show, I promise!
Let me know what you think of these dates, and whether you are interested in these classes!
Greetings of the Season stamp set; Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake & Very Vanilla CS; Festival of Prints DSP pack; Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon; Button from the Brights collection; Linen thread; Scallop Trim Border & Corner punches.

Fab Thanksgiving!

Well, time for another color challenge from Fab Friday 06!  While I feel like I've resigned myself to taking on these challenges, this one was even tougher than usual for me - FOUR colors, and not ones that I have a lot of DSP for, sigh...  But I made do!
On top of all this, I recently started following the blog of Amy Storrie, of Stamped With Joy.  She just posted the cutest little card I've seen in a while, using the For The Birds stamp set, which I just got myself.  She used this sketch from the Paper Craft Crew - not a sketch challenge I had heard of before, and it was NIFTY!  I'll have to monitor these folks for sketch material - but I can't subscribe, I promise.  Maybe an occasional peeky, or something...

Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set; Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse, More Mustard & Cajun Craze CS; Orchard Party & Patio Party DSP; Autumn Accents die; Chevron, Square Lattice, Perfect Polka Dot & Woodgrain embossing folders; Brushed Bronze Specialty button; 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon & ink.

"Kindness" Flags

This card is a take on a layout I saw out on the demo site, by Natascha Hagenstede.  I love her site - though it's in German!  Something exciting that's been going on in the SU! universe is all the new markets they've entered, and the opening of the demo site to ALL our nationalities - the creativity is going CRAZY!
The little details on Natascha's card were amazing, so I HAD to make my own version, with my own twists.  Enjoy!

Sweet Essentials stamp set; Very Vanilla & Crumb Cake CS; Elegant Soiree (retired) DSP; Itty Bitty punch pack; Woodgrain embossing folder; Neutrals brads; self-adhesive Pearls; White baker's twine.

Woo hoo - time for another great sketch from Freshly Made Sketch #60!  It was a fun one, another great chance to go nutso with color again, too, of course!
I saw the sketch and got to thinking how I never pull out the Quint-essential Flower enough - five layers instead of the three we used to have with the Triple Treat Blossom (sob) can be a bit daunting.  I also realized today that there's a bit of flexibility in how you choose your layers, too!  Good grief!
Quint-essential Flower & Deseos pequenitos (Teeny Tiny Wishes) stamp sets; Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder & Melon Mambo CS; Flirtateous Specialty (retired) DSP; Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Pretty In Pink, Daffodil Delight & Wisteria Wonder inks; Various punches; self-adhesive rhinestones.

What a versatile layout Freshly Made Sketch #59 is this week!  It reminds me of the "inchies" I used to do so many of, sigh...  THIS time 'round, though, I decided to go for a card that I have wanted to do for a LONG time - a color scheme and design based on the quilt in my bedroom - it's so organic!
And of course, this sketch came just in time to celebrate Lisa V's birthday - have a great day, sweet lady!  You deserve all the best!  And chocolate!  Lots of chocolate!

BTW, Stampin' Up! has released this special issue of the demo magazine "Stampin' Success" just for customers - check it out!

Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set; Crumb Cake, Basic Gray, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla & Soft Suede CS; Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon; Little Leaves sizzlet; Modern label punch w/ accompanying Movers & Shapers die; Festival of Prints DSP; paper-piercing punch pack.

Retro Framelits

Wow - this week's Retro Sketch #36 seems like it was designed with all Stampin' Up!'s new framelits in mind!  Everywhere I looked, I thought, hey, I have that shape!
This was a fun way to try combining the different silhouettes - I don't think I would have ever thought of this on my own!  And, since my retired DSP stash was still out, I decided to play with the same color scheme!  Rich Razzleberry has SO grown on me...

Friendly Phrases stamp set; Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Melon Mambo & Pumpkin Pie CS; Razzleberry Lemonade (retired) DSP; Chevron embossing folder; Apothecary Accents & Labels Collection framelits; Pumpkin Pie 1/4" grosgrain; Brights button collection.
