I love Merry Monday #261's ornament theme! I think these holiday colors from Global Design Project #109 will be perfect!
When I think of a focal ornament, I can't help but go back to our gorgeous Embellished Ornaments set. For an update, I'll combine with my new fave, Christmas Pines - these two make perfect partners! I played a little with a sheet from Merry Little Christmas, added some pines branches, and heat-embossed a big fancy ornaments! There's definitely some sparkle there!

Oo, check out this spooky inspiration pic at Fusion Wreath this week! It will be a tough call to combine with the happy sketch!
OK, by pulling out all the stops, I think I managed to "fuse" the two offerings - THIS card won't be winning any speed races, lol. I realized I still have my beloved Mr. Funny Bones set from last year for all my skeleton needs, lol - perfect! And how about a Halloween Harvest wreath? I can even squeeze in a bog 'ole lime bow from Jar of Love. So much fun piecing this baby together - and I even like the final result, lol. Good and spooky times!

A Halloween Hi

We have a very modern sketch from Case This Sketch #243 this week! I think this clean and simple, but spooky, challenge from Paper Players #366, will be a perfect partner!
So, in case you didn't notice, while I did get most of the pumpkin, gourd and fall collections this year, I didn't actually get too much that was Halloween specific this year. I'm usually all over it, but I've been slowing down a bit with my kid getting a little big for trick or treating, lol. I still decorate, almost as much as Christmas, lol, but I don't need many cards. So I have to turn to some retired goodies today: the awesome Happy Haunting DSP, and The More the Merrier stamp set. I LOVE this row of little leering pumpkins - don't they look like trouble? A few paisley ghosts behind them and we have the perfect scene! Spooky!

Here's a banner sketch from In{k}spire Me #321!
Goodness, this layout nearly stumped me! I couldn't figure out how to make those opposing banners "flow," lol, let alone coordinate them with an image! I finally hit on these wonderful fancy pens from Crafting Forever, and I started thinking to myself how much fun they would be to color with our new Blends (which I totally did!) but I still needed sentiments. Then I hit on Banners For You, and THEN I realized that the dual banner included in there could be cut apart to match the layout here almost perfectly! And the crowd goes wild! It was all up but the coloring by then, lol... Good times!

Oo, Paper Craft Crew #263 is hitting me where it counts - square cards are my nemesis! Let's go for it!
I decided to go a little smaller, a 4 1/4" square card, so it would fit in a standard envelope. This also seemed like a good time to pull out the new Color Me Happy stamp set, which will be coming soon to help you celebrate the new Stampin' Blends! This was a dream to color with the new markers, and I LOVE the new caps - no more jamming in crooked and ruining your tips. The alcohol ink spreads and blends with its usual beautiful ease - perfect for these little blossoms. Good times!

Scary Skeleton

I'm so excited by this week's Retro Rubber Challenge #73 - BOO! I love my old Halloween sets! I'll use the layout from Freshly Made Sketch #308 to help me along! These spooky colors from Color Throwdown #464 seem appropriate, too!
I was glad for a chance to browse the retired shelves - I just finally got my work room rearranged enough that I could get my retired sets back up on shelves instead of hiding under my desk in produce flats - whew! What a job it was getting my shelving squared away, but I'm so glad to have the legroom back under my desk, lol. Anyway, I spotted my Scary Skeleton set from 2009 - I love his googly eyes so much! I kept it fairly simple, a little embossing, sparing on the color, but at least he's dancing! He must be as happy as I am about being out from under the desk again, lol...

Merry Mittens

I love this tilty sketch at this week's Merry Monday #260! It's a natural fit with this week's SU! Only Challenge #185 for a holiday catty fave - perfect!
As always with the Holiday Catty, it's really tough for me to choose just ONE fave - so today I'm featuring Smitten Mittens! One of the great features of this set is of course its accompanying framelit set, which actually features several "texture" pieces - so cool! Add some knit cable wherever you want! I treated on of my mittens with some ribbing around the cuff, then added some herringbone to the body. And I have a little hint: on the large cable, make sure the id# is facing UP, lol, or you'll etch it into your paper! You can always go back over it to fix it if you need to - ask me how I know, lol...

Check out these bold and brilliant colors from Sunday Stamps Challenge #163! I'm matching it with Try Stampin' on Tuesday #343 for my layout!
All these colors were a red flag for me - I was like, how to pick just three?? How to use all five if I can't pick?? It was a quandary I solved with my Thoughtful Banners stamp set - go big or go home could be my subtitle today! These rich colors make for a fun palette, and I mixed in some textures, too - fun and simple! I needed a little bling, too, so I scattered some tiny rhinestones all over the place...

I'm so excited that it's Fab Friday time again! Check out our #123 challenge sketch! I'm adding in Paper Players #365's colors, too!
As I browsed through my stamp shelves, I started thinking how these colors reminded me of fancy butterflies - and wouldn't you know it, we have just the set for that, lol! It's been far too ling since Watercolor Wings has been out for some air - I was happy to oblige! I really wanted to do the larger butterfly for the card, so it took a bit of doing to get everything on there, but I managed. And I was right - good butterfly colors!

Autumn in Arizona Class Oct 14!
Anyone else excited that we've finally dropped below 100 degrees for a few days in row now?? I know I am! In celebration of the weather just getting better and better I have an Autumn in Arizona class for us this month that brings the Fall season home! Pumpkins and changing leaves - yes, we CAN have it in AZ - on cards!

Seeing Orange (& Christmas Cards 2 Class Oct 21!

Woo hoo! Another speed challenge from As You See It #160 - and this time in shades of orange! Can I bring the juice in 10 minutes or less??
I started by pulling all the pretty oranges I wanted to use - looking at them all together really made me think of leaves, and Colorful Seasons has a great one that also has a framelit. I gathered the rest of toys (gathering materials doesn't count against my time!) and started the clock! I added in some Memento Tuxedo Black for my line drawings and sentiment, then added some leaf colors. I wanted a bit of dimension, so I also stamped and cut a couple extras to play with. Once assembly was complete, I popped on a few Candy Dots, too. Start to finish time? 4 minutes, 50 seconds! Yes!
