OMG, I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this week's glamping challenge at Fusion! Not only am I a total sucker for the theme, it has the twin sister to the saguaro in my front yard in it - woo! So, there can't possibly be anyone out there who didn't know I was excited for the chance to pull out my Glamper Greetings set, right? If only there was a little cactus in it! In the end, I had to salvage a saguaro from a set of pins I made for my Stampin' Team - we're the Saguaro Stampers, lol. See, my Room of Retirement is temporarily in storage for the arrival of my nephew, who arrives this weekend to stay with us for 6 months or so. Good times here! I'm busy scrambling to bring my retired items back into my every day workroom, but just a little reorganization is required first, lol. I was so excited when I realized I had a few of these pins still! Glamper Greetings & Yee-Haw (retired) Stamp Sets; Real Red DSP scrap (retired); Whisper White & Pool Party CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Old Olive & Melon Mambo Inks; Black Marker; White Uniball Gel Pen; 3/4" Circle Punch; #FusionGlamper. Let's Get Messy 2 on Sep 14 & 16! I've had quite a few requests for another edition of our "Messy Class," and I can hold out no longer, lol. Let's do it again! This class will feature fun new techniques and products that might be just a little bit "messy" to play with - and we'll all get messy together while we learn how to tame them! We'll make 5 all-occasion cards that you will love creating! No apron required! (But maybe don't wear white!) Class will be held on Thursday, September 14 at 630 pm or Saturday, September 16 at 3 pm, and will include all supplies needed (bring your own snips and adhesive!), plus drinks and snacks, and a special gift from me, all for $25! This class can also be FREE with your order of $30 or more! RSVP today!

Yaaaay! Merry Monday #255 is back - and it's a "joy"-ful occasion, lol! Color Throwdown #459 is perfectly timed to help out, too, with layout "ink-spiration" from In{k}spire Me #316! Incorporating the word "joy" immediately took me to my now retired {SOB} Wonderful Wreath framelits - the pretty words also included in this set have long been a fave of mine! I had planned originally to have the fashion layer be white, with stamped pine sprigs from the equally lovely Christmas Pines set. But then I pulled my white layer over to my stamping surface, leaving the "joy" lying on the black layer. And I was like "WHOA - that's cool!" So I started working on setting off white and red details against the black. I actually redid it once and pulled off the pine branches I started to use - too busy, and I'm not sure I'm not still too busy, sigh. Still, I love these modern contrasts - so elegant! Christmas Pines Stamp Set (one envelope!); Whisper White, Real Red & Basic Black CS; Real Red & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Wonderful Wreath Framelits (retired); Pretty Pines Thinlits; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; #Merry255; #CTD459; #IM316. I think these colors from Stamp Ink Paper #115 will be perfect, too, and I'll use Match the Sketch #193 to lead the way! One of my man sets that I haven't pulled out in a while is Guy Greetings - and I LOVE these stacked up hats from it! I kept things pretty Basic Gray with touches of my other colors - channeling Arizona Golf Course attire here... Lol. Guy Greetings Stamp Set; Basic Gray DSP (retired); Whisper White & Bermuda Bay CS; Basic Gray Archival, So Saffron & Bermuda Bay Inks; 3/4" Circle Punch; #GDP103; #SIP115; #MTS193. I'm also using this lovely clean layout from Freshly Made Sketch #304! Seeing that lovely round shape in the sketch sent me over to Daisy Delight - and toady I tried some aqua-painting for it! I couldn't find a DSP featuring Lemon Lime Twist in my stash, sigh, so I made my own with the two-step leaves in the stamp set, stamping off the fill-in leaf first to keep the brightness a little under control, lol. I also tried squaring off the ends of my sentiment instead of flagging as I usually do - much easier with this larger font, for sure! Other than that, I tried to keep off the little embellie extras I love so much. Lots of white space today! Daisy Delight Stamp Set; Whisper White & Pacific Point CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Pacific Point & Lemon Lime Twist Inks; Layering Circles Framelits; #LIM344; #FMS304. Let's Get Messy 2 on Sep 14 & 16! I think I'll try to squeeze in TGIF #123's sweet color combo, too! Once I looked over these colors a bit, I realized they could be a good palette for our still awesome Coffee Cafe suite - there's even some DSP sheets that fit right in! I picked a couple sheets to stand in for my larger blocks of color from the sketch, and then set about creating the right combo for a tasty little short cup of brew. When I considered what extra shapes I wanted to include, I hit on including the little "Perk Up" piece from Merry Cafe, making this into a kind of caffeinated get well card, lol. Maybe cough medicine tastes even better from a mini coffee cup! Coffee Cafe & Merry Cafe Stamp Sets; Coffee Break DSP; Whisper White & Soft Sky CS; Early Espresso, Peekaboo Peach & Soft Sky Inks; Banners (retired) & Coffee Cups Framelits; Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon; #TSOT337; #TGIF123. So today's card totally wound up heading in a direction I didn't plan at all, lol. I had originally thought I'd be fanning little strips of paper to get the shapes I wanted, and was worried about the bulk of the intersection. It definitely exceeded my two pop-dot height limit, lol, so then I started wondering about stamping it somehow. Did I have any triangles? Well, yes, but not the long skinny ones I was looking for, but hey, let's check out what we have. And here we have it - a totally clean and simple one-layer card that I generally despair of ever achieving, but that works out beautifully for these challenges. Go figure! A happy purple accident! Happy Celebrations Stamp Set; Whisper White CS; Fresh Fig, Perfect Plum, Sweet Sugarplum & Powder Pink Inks; Perfect Plum Candy Dots (retired); #CTS237; #IM315. Love the column on this week's Freshly Made Sketch #303! Now to find some fun shapes to add! Well, today's card is also sponsored by UPS, lol, because they just brought my brand new Christmas Quilt Suite - and it's di-VOON! The stamps are so well coordinated, several are made to two-step together, there's framelits, DSP, and even an embossing folder! I tried to include a little bit of everything - alas, no room for the ribbon, lol... Hope you can see that little sewing needle - the framelits are a must-have! Christmas Quilt Stamp Set; Quilted Christmas DSP; Lemon Lime Twist, Real Red, Silver Foil, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Reall Red & Lemon Lime Twist Inks; Quilt Top EF; Quilt Builder Framelits; Large Oval & Scallop Oval Punches; White Baker's Twine; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; #FMS303. We have a nice broad sketch from Stamp Ink Paper #114 today - I'm matching it up with SU! Only #182's "blast from the past" theme! And just for fun, I'm adding in these "primary" colors (yuk, yuk) from Color Throwdown #458! I also realized I could squeeze in Retro Rubber #90's Back to School theme, but there's a little story, of course... So, the day designing for all these challenges came up, I got to spend some time watching the shenanigans of my neighbor's daughter preparing to leave for college with her girlfriends, to their brand new first apartment! That's right, BIG kids move off campus as soon as possible, lol! So, I kid you not, this card is inspired by watching a crew of 6 girls huffing a truly hideous hand-me-down GREEN couch into the back of someone's truck, in said neighbor's driveway. Believe me, it was nowhere near as cute as the one on my card, though I did contribute some bright red plaid throw pillows for it, lol. Sorry, couldn't resist clearing out the guest room (aka, the room of retirement!) closet, and they really NEEDED them, I swear. The fait is accompli! Watch out, Colorado, they're on their way now, lol... (Yes, I do plan on mailing this to them all once their mom gives the word, lol.) Please Be Seated Stamp Set (2006-retired); Whisper White, Old Olive & Daffodil Delight CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight & Real Red Inks; Stitched Shapes Framelits; Ruffled DEF; Daffodil Delight Enamel Shapes; #SIP114; #SUO182; #CTD458; #RR90. We have a fun sketch with lots of room at Global Design Project #102 this week! I can't wait to add in What Will You Stamp #131's This Little Piggy! To create my background layers, I thought at first that I'd add in some washi, but somehow I always come back to this dotty piggy sheet in the Whole Lot of Lovely collection - these washed dots just read "pig" to me, I guess, lol. I kept the card pretty simple, but did a little fussy cutting for some dimension, and combined two pinks for Piggy Miss! At the last second I had to put a little love on her booty, too - I'm trying not to think about that too much, lol. This Little Piggy Stamp Set; Whole Lot of Lovely DSP; Powder Pink, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Powder Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Crumb Cake & Pear Pizzazz Inks; Linen Thread; Crumb Cake Candy Dots (retired); #GDP102; #WWYS131. Another fabulous day with Fab Friday #120's color challenge this week! Everything's better with a little Lemon-Lime, don't you think? Our layout comes from Sunday Sketch #160 - lovely curves and layers! I have to admit, when I first saw our colors this week, I had a little "moment," lol. Then I realized, what pretty colors for a bunch of flowers, and HOW long has it been since I played with Jar of Love?? Too long, clearly, lol! I love how my little jar came out, and I love matching this set with sentiments from Beautiful Bouquet - next time I have to remember to put THOSE flowers in a jar! I can't wait to see your Fab creations - see you at the challenge! Jar of Love & Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Tranquil Tide, Peekaboo Peach & Tangerine Tango CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, Peekaboo Peach & Tangerine Tango Inks; Everyday Jars & Layering Circles Framelits; Large Delicate Doilies Sizzlet (retired); Tangerine Tango Baker's Twine; Peekaboo Peach Enamel Dots; #FabFri119; #SSC160. |
