Sunny Fun

Oh gosh, one of my fave challenges!  An "anything goes" for Retro Rubber #141!  Eee!
Today's card is a fun chance for me to use 2011's Sunny Fun, a retired set that's just visiting with me this week, lol.  The little rows of flip flops had me smit!  There's also a cute row of popsicles, and one of happy kids tubing - not sure why I don't remember this set, or have it myself, because it's right up my alley!  I kept thing pretty clean with the flip flops, went with a 3-color, Poppy-Daffodil-Cabana palette, and added a few glitter dots at the end.  This is quite the flip-flop wardrobe here, even for Arizona!
Sunny Fun (retired 2011); Whisper White & Coastal Cabana CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight & Poppy Parade Blends; Coastal Cabana Glitter Dots; #RRCB141.

LOVE this sketch at this week's In{k}spire Me #427 - let's get started!
What a great way to show off some pretty DSP - I decided that I haven't been playing with the lovely Forever Greenery pack enough, so that's who got the prize!  I also decided to use this warm sympathy sentiment to go with from Woven Heirlooms - one of my fave sympathies, and, well, it looks so nice in a circle for the sketch, lol.  I decided to layer all the DSP in Pretty Peacock and do the circle in the same, so I heat embossed the sentiment in White - looks nice and sharp!  I'm finally getting the hang of that!
Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set; Forever Greenery DSP; Whisper White & Pretty Peacock CS; Versamark Ink; White EP; Stitched Shapes Dies; Pretty Peacock Faceted Dots; #IM427.

Woo hoo! Happy 7th Birthday to The Male Room #141 - what a milestone!  I think this calls for a card!
I haven't had Pampered Pets out for inking since Critter Class - {GASP!}  Let's fix that right now, lol!  While I'm at it, I'll check off another box, which was to fussy cut one of the fabulous extra dogs from the gorgeous DSP - and the Great Dane was at the top of that list!  I put together a fun little play with the DSP, did a two-color job with markers on my sentiment, and perched that pooch over all - love it!  I even still had a little bone trinket left for him!  What a birthday!
Pampered Pets Stamp Set; Playful Pets DSP; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Basic Black & Real Red Stamp-N-Write Markers; Banner Triple Punch; Playful Pets Trim; Playful Pets Trinkets; #TMR141.

You get your choice of sketches this week at SU Only #256 - grab your catty, turn to page 94, and pick your fave!
I decided to play with the banner element card, and I really wanted to take my newly arrived Sending Sunshine set for a spin!  I am fascinated by the scene building possibilities for this gorgeous sunset or sunrise set!  Just to share my own discovery - the water can be stamped in two layers - eventually, I started with the DARKER layer first, then aligned my larger stamped-off layer after - SO much easier to see!  Then I added all my details, the clouds, the islands, the sponged "sand" and plants...  So much to play with!
I can't wait to see YOUR projects for our challenge this week - meet you there!
Sending Sunshine Stamp Set; Whale of a Time DSP; Whisper White & Balmy Blue CS; Balmy Blue, Mango Melody, Sahara Sand, Old Olive, Early Espresso & Gray Granite Inks; Whale of a Time Sequins; #SUOC256.

See the Good

What a big bold sketch we have this week at Inspire Create Challenge #075!
I couldn't help but think of my artichoke in the See the Good stamp set - I have been waiting for a chance to ink this up!  The pear looks very cool, too, but really, it's all about the artichoke to me, lol.  I decided to go all greens for this one, and bright in a little strip of the Forever Greenery DSP, too.  I inked up my artichoke in Pear Pizzazz, and then sponge-daubed on some Garden Green, too, I really like the contrast!  Then I used the long sentiment, that I stamp-a-ma-jigged into two lines so it would fit where called for by the sketch - whew!  A few sequins to finish, and it's all set.  Now to go melt some butter!

Oo, check out the bright colors that Hand Stamped Sentiments #345 has for us this week!
I'm really not sure why anymore, but these days, these bright colors send me straight to Hippo Happiness, lol.  Too much Fantasia as a child?  Maybe!  I can just see hippos parading all over the place in bold colors, smiling away, every time!  I kept this one fairly low-key - only ONE hippo!  But she did get balloons, at least!  A few enamel dots finishes me off.  And can I just put in another plug for the Playing With Patterns DSP?  So many fun colors and patterns, I'm finding I can use it with SO many designs!  It fills a lot of niches for me!

Partridge & a Pear Crate

Oo, the August challenge for CAS Christmas is up, and this month's theme is the 12 Days of Christmas - awesome!
This is one of my favorite carols - it was always such fun to try and remember all the stanzas when I was growing up - I think sometimes we had some pretty entertaining alternates, lol.  Anyway, I'm thrilled that our new, multi-season, Arrange a Wreath set has both pears AND partridge, though I decided to give the little crate a spin, too, lol.  Doesn't this partridge look like he's skulking in to make off with the goods?  That's how we are around here when our Harry & David pears come at Christmas, I have to admit, lol.  Hands off, buster!
Arrange a Wreath Stamp Set; Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz CS; Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight & Calypso Coral Inks; Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral, Early Espresso & Smoky Slate Stamp-n-Write Markers; Wreath Builder Dies; #CASChristmas12Days.

Oo, SO excited that I can squeeze in Freshly Made Sketch #448 this week - I love a good tilt!
Today, I couldn't help thinking what a great way to show off some fancy paper this sketch would be.  So I started going through my DSP, but then thought, whoa, maybe this could be the moment I finally cut into my new Rainbow Glimmer paper!  I really wanted to be able to show the range of colors in a nice big field!  I've been nervous about even cutting into it because of this, so I'm super glad the sketch has helped me break the ice a little.  Super simple, but SO pretty - I even did the envelope flap {GASP!}

The Fault in Our Stars

I remember when my daughter read this book in school, The Library Challenge #65's The Fault In Our Stars - I think it's a movie, too, right?  Maybe I'll check it out!  I've been pretty happy without teen angst in the house anymore, but the cover is perfect for a card challenge, for sure!
Now, usually, my fave thing to do at TLC is to recreate the covers - so fun!  Today, though, I decided to go for the colors - such a bold contrast just screams for it, I think!  I decided to take Today's Tiles out for another spin, and I pulled out my retired Tempting Turquoise to hit all the right notes.  LOVE how it came out, and I finally had the thought to treat the envelope with the Tin Tile embossing folder to go with - perfect!  No naked envelopes!
Today's Tiles Stamp Set; Whisper White, Basic Black & Tempting Turquoise (retired) CS; Memento Tuxedo Black & Tempting Turquoise (retired) Inks; Tin Tile EF; #TLC65.

Joy of Blue

Very nice - I might finally get to the ocean with this month's Joy of Sets #020!
As tempting as another ocean theme was, turns out I really had buttons on the brain, lol, so I went with the emboss-button-blue diagonal!  I think I had a button challenge not too long back (The Male Room, maybe?  No, it was Retro Rubber!) and I remember considering using my Button, Button embossing folder for it.  Alas, I went another route, but the folder has still been sitting on my desk, taunting me!  So here we are, at my blue button celebration, lol.  This card was super quick!
