 So excited, Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration #52 is doing a technique challenge that I've been wanting to try! Cant wait! Yay, string art! So, our next messy class is definitely going to have one of these babies in it, lol. Thank goodness I planned ahead before bringing out the soaked string, lol. I'm sure the dog won't have that stripe on their tongue for TOO long! After a couple goes on our regular CS, I decided to move to our watercolor paper - such a fun effect! It kind of reminds me of our blooming saguaro out here, really, maybe crossed with Jack-in-the-Pulpits, lol. Anyway - good times! Totally doing more of these!  We're back again at Fab Friday #142 with some gorgeous new colors to play with - and I decided to try mine in this layered sketch from As You See It #180! So, I can not tell a lie - this was HARD! I have to admit that secret thoughts to throw out the sketch, or call in sick to my Fab Friends crept in a couple times, lol. But I kept at it, and tweaked and jiggled, til I landed on something I could live with. Especially after AYSI said to take HUGE liberties! My kinda gig! My main problem I do admit was insisting on trying to work in our upcoming limited-time-only set Blended Seasons. I'm fresh off of working it into our Christmas in July class, and I was ready for more! Maybe next time not for a color challenge, lol. Uh oh, Back to Basics #7 is going to catch me out with the "simple step card" challenge this week - I've never made one!! I LOVE that these guys are challenging me to try new things! Much like explosion cards, I found myself stumped for a stamp set - these fancy folds can sometimes give you what feels like a LOT of real estate to fill, and this one was no exception, lol. And I really wanted something bright and fun - and no trees - I'm treed out after Christmas class! I landed on Picture Perfect Birthday mostly because I have some of the DIVINE dsp for this suite still left over - that's a deal! I hunted around and found some tips for a 3-side-step card, and off I went! I cobbled together all my panels and add-ons, and here we are. I added a little white panel to the back for jotting your own note! Whew! Made it! Wow, LOVE this cool new color combo over at Inspire Create Challenge #22! Can't wait to try it with this fun sketch over at Case This Sketch #280! I really had to dig to find something that would work for the arrows of the sketch - branches? Actual arrows? Maybe a thread wrap? Then I spotted the dotted line elements in our fun Artfully Folded hostess set. I used to be an origami nut, so I totally snatched this beauty up as soon as I could, lol. I chose the "diamond" dotted line for the card, and used my grid paper to help me line up all my rows - yikees, lol. I decided a few tiny pop-dotted images would be just what I needed, and then I realized that my Basics Sequins would also coordinate. A little more detail than I had originally envisioned, but still super simple! Knowing that I was going Christmas for this sketch, I headed straight to Christmas Pines, because I already knew I wanted to use this sentiment in my scalloped square - it's just about my all-time fave Christmas greeting - LOVE this font! I tried to keep it fairly simple for AAA, so I kept the white space rather than adding too much color. Hope I still qualify for CAS, lol, but really, this was a quick and fun card! Love our combo at this week's Fusion "Cactus Door" challenge - perfect for AZ! I knew as soon as I saw the inspiration pic I would be pulling out my retired Succulent Garden DSP. What's funny is, I never did get the stamp set and framelits that are part of this suite, I just wanted that gorgeous paper! With the return of Mint Macaron to our color lineup, I have a feeling you might be seeing more of it, lol. Anyway, this card is also maybe the second time EVER that I have fussy cut a DSP element to feature (no stamp set, remember??) and I love how easy it was and how cool it came out! Such pretty and soft colors to try this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments #293! My search for a set to show off these colors took a bit. I also wanted something I haven't used in a while. When I spotted Crafting Forever, I just couldn't get the idea of coloring the pens to the challenge out of my head! What fun! Then I realized I could do Blends! And keep it one-layer (which I am NOT famous for, lol) and super CAS (again, NOT famous for, snicker.) I succumbed to a few pretty sequins in the end, but I'm also super pleased with the final card. I'm building some cute notes that I already know I want to be sending to my daughter when she goes away to school in August - I'm still excited for her, but it's starting to hit me, my nest will be EMPTY in a bout a month!
