Mambo Flourish

I'm tackling As You See It #139's super-cute sketch today! Adding in this also super-cute color challenge over at Global Design Project #45!
When I tried to plan how I wanted to approach these colors, I decided I really wanted to float that pink over a black background, and the sketch was totally laid out that way, too. Seriously, these two challenges are star-crossed lovers! My finished card pretty much just flew together, lol. The Flourish Thinlets are so elegant, and the black and mambo so vibrant, Smoky Slate is just the Justice of the Peace, lol.

Today's fun sketch is from Just Add Ink #320! I'm combining it with this cute color challenge over at Can You Case It #129, too!
I decided I wanted to achieve my central circular shape with my new favorite thinlets - Swirly Scribbles! They are SO fun! I'm loving using them to add bright splashes of color, in crazy swirly shapes - they're just perfect for that! I settled on a pretty kite to float over my Flirty Flamingo vortex, there, all over a "sparkling" backdrop, lol. Aren't I just all sweetness and light today? Lol...

I love this floating panel at this week's Create With Connie & Mary #415! I'm going to add in TGIF #64's Summer Sun theme, too!
So if we're celebrating summer sun, I of course have to bring out my sunburst thinlet! And since I still have a little dearth of DSP, I dipped into my retired bin for some bright and sunshine-y scraps, lol. I really like how this off-center sun came out - I think it adds a bit more movement!

Love this landscape layout at this week's Match the Sketch #133!
So, I identified last week that another set I haven't inked up in a while is my super-cute Acorny Thank You - why do I love acorns so much? Is it because we have such a awesome punch to go with it? Could be, lol... I decided to also sacrifice, I mean USE, some of my carefully hoarded Into The Woods DSP, too. See that panel behind the acorns, with the leaves? I have 1 3/4" square inches of that sheet remaining, lol. It will find a home, too, one day, I know it!

I love fun tilty panels in a sketch, like in this week's Try Stampin' on Tuesday #279! I think I'll add this fun color challenge from Pals Paper Arts #309!
OK, so, even though the colors might be a little funky for it, I HAD to play with my new Thoughtful Branches suite for this one! LOVE THIS SET! All the little trees, the wonderful sentiments, and of course, the brilliant thinlets - a set made in heaven I swear! I think I'll be doing my August class on just this set! I have to break in the thinlets more - I only needed them for the little bird this go 'round, lol.

Yay! It's Christmas in July over at Stamps, Ink, Paper #56! This is a fun follow up to the class I just finished, lol... I'm using this wonderfully versatile sketch from Freshly Made Sketch #245, too!
Let's see, who needs to come off my Christmas shelf and get inky? How about Holly Jolly Greetings? I'm fascinated by how versatile this set is in building the holiday message of your choice, and adding the thinlets really ups the WOW factor! Some fun DSP and a touch of sparkle, and we're all set!

Today's sketch is from Retro Sketch #222 - fancy!
I took a bit to decide on a strategy for this one: I wanted to go as simple as possible, but of course, extra details have a way of creeping in despite my intention, lol. I finally landed on a fun combo of the Flower Patch set and Endless Thanks - I don't think either of these have seen much ink from me lately! I also wanted to bring out my Sweet Sugarplum ink - I always seem to pick a fave new In Color when I first see them, and then in practice I don't seem to use them! Looks like that'll be Sweet Sugarplum for me this year...

Look at this playful sketch from TGIF #63! So fun!
I'm taking another crack at that DSP again today - too bad I didn't try a different pattern, lol. What happened was, I actually designed this card with the back of this sheet - and I liked it! Then one of those fateful things happened: I dropped a bunch of pieces on the floor, and the DSP landed with THIS side showing, and I realized how awesome it would look with all the little flowers! Sigh. I'll branch out on this one soon, I promise, lol.

Yay! Nachos are back in the sketch house! So excited to play over at Nacho Average Challenge #175!
As soon as I saw that big star shape I knew I wanted to pull out the little triangle shakers from the last Pumpkin kit, Banner surprise. I really haven't played with this one enough yet, because My Pumpkin Challenge is on break for July. Eek! What if I lose my Pumpkin touch?? Can't have that! So I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a Pumpkin opportunity to arise - Nachos win!! I also combined with the gorgeous bonus set All About Everything, and I wanted to see what a little fussy cutting would do wit that sentiment. Not sure it pops enough, but I like the overall look!

Lovely layout at this week's Pals Paper Arts #308!
For this sketch, I wanted to try and feature some DSP that I've been struggling with - the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP. I still haven't tapped the gorgeous copper accent sheets, but my main challenge is actually the other sheets - why oh why are these colors so hard for me? So even though I really tweaked and fiddled with this one, I still find the final result "jarring" to my eye (so to speak,) I haven't quite hit on making these colors sing, I don't think. Still, always a good time to play with Jar of Love!
