Eek, this week's sketch at Retro Sketch #173 is TOO CUTE! Make sure you check out the samples! With all the little sketch elements to play with, I went straight for our awesome new 2-step Hostess set Beautiful Wings. So many ways to go with this one! Today I passed the butterfly by in favor of building a bud vase, and I also got to play with the gorgeous vine element, which I squeezed onto the envelope flap (say it with me, now - no naked envelopes!) The Pretty Petals DSP mini stack seemed just made for this set... Floral Wings Stamp Set; Pretty Petals DSP; Very Vanilla & Pacific Point CS; Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron, Pacific Point & Old Olive Inks; 1/8" Organdy in Calypso Coral (retired); Brights Button in Pacific Point; Cutie Pie Thinlets; Banners Framelits; Banner Punch. OK, what a fun chance at this week's TGIF #12 - to use whatever our favorite new toy is, any way we want! This was almost TOO big of a challenge for me! I had to go with categories of favorites in the end, lol. I started with my surprise fave new In Color - Mint Macaron. Now, Tip Top Taupe is a VERY close second, but really, I'm reaching for my Mint Macaron just about every other card! I also decided to throw in my fave new botanical stamp set, the Hostess set Best Thoughts. I'm a sucker for stems and coloring, and the sentiments and butterfly "extra" just push this one over the top for me. It's also a blast to fussy cut, though I restrained myself to just snipping the butterfly today, lol... Best Thoughts Stamp Set; Mint Macaron, Early Espresso & Very Vanilla CS; Early Espresso, Mint Macaron, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride & So Saffron Inks; PL Corner Rounder Punch. Pumpkin Club August 1! Here's a fun and pretty sketch from Just Add Ink #271 - and I'm matching it today with the bright color challenge from Create With Connie and Mary #364! Turned out this combo was definitely harder than I thought it would be - I finally went with this pair of DSPs from two different sets, because I was DETERMINED to use Ray of Sunshine for this one, lol! I'm trying to decide if I've committed a huge crime by using Very Vanilla prints with a Whisper White card base and other elements, but, well, I had already stamped out that sun and there was just no turning back, lol... Has that ever happened to you? Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set; Sweet L'il Things & Pretty Petals DSP; Heavy & Regular Whisper White, and Crushed Curry CS; Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks & Markers; Banner Triple, 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" Square Punches; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; Dotted Lace Trim in Watermelon Wonder. Wowza - deceptively simple sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketch #195 - you HAVE to see what amazing things they did with it on the design team! Seems the perfect match with the deceptively subtle "going gray" color challenge over at Sunday Stamps #105 - a-MAZ-ing! I've taken the liberty of including silver in my going gray line-up - I needed just a leetle something else, lol. I also had a serious stampin' indiscretion while making this card. I totally over-inked the bejeepers out of my Basic Gray pad, lol. It was epic! I finally broke down and blotted some off with tissues, something I swore I would never stoop to. Sigh. Crossed that Rubicon, lol. The pad just seemed so thirsty! Yikes! Hint: have you noticed how close in size the circles are between I Think You're Great and Ray of Sunshine? Hmmm... I Think You're Great & Ray of Sunshine Stamp Sets; Heavy & Regular Whisper White, Silver Foil, Smoky Slate & Basic Gray CS; Basic Gray, Smoky Slate & Versamark Inks; Silver Embossing Powder; Greetings Thinlets; Circles Collection Framelits; Frosted Sequins; Needlepoint Borders Embossing Folder (retired-on envelope.) OK, I'm super excited about this week's Stamp, Ink, Paper #5 challenge - because it's for CHRISTMAS! I can never have too much of my fave holiday, lol... So, since I'm still not seeing too much out there with Santa's Gifts, and since I'll shortly have the new Holiday Catalog in my eager hands at Convention next week, I decided some Santa coloring was in order! I don't like to think I would abandon my long awaited big book holiday sets so soon, but best to be prepared (and realistic, lol.) Also, I'm having a hard time deciding if this lovely simple tree print or the colored dots are my favorite in our Merry Moments paper, too - but the trees win today! Santa's Gifts Stamp Set; Merry Moments DSP; Heavy & Regular Whisper White, Real Red & Crumb Cake CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Real Red, Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Early Espresso & Old Olive Markers; Brick Wall Embossing Folder; White Baker's Twine; Candy Dots in Old Olive; Banner Punch. I'm going to try and squeeze in this week's Nacho Average Challenge #150, too - such fresh colors! OK, I got a lot less nervous when I realized that the color challenge might be referring to the new Pretty Petals DSP pack - thank goodness! I've been wanting to break into this one a bit more, lol! Once I had that starting point, I was able to bring all the fun little details together pretty quick - I went layer-crazy, lol! Crazy About You Stamp Set; Pretty Petals DSP Pack; Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral & Mint Macaron CS; Mint Macaron, Calypso Coral & Pacific Point Inks; Hello You Thinlets; Ovals Collection Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template (retired); Scallop Circle & Banner Punches; Basic Jewel Jumbo Pearl (retired.) Hey, hey, hey - it's Pumpkin Time again with My Pumpkin Challenge #0715 - Share a Smile! Today I wanted to try and play with some of my triangle pieces on a different color card base - yay for Soft Sky! It's a lot of fun lining them up in fancy columns - have you tried it? Here's a hint that's helped me: lay a ruler over the CS, leaving enough space for your triangles, so that you can line up along both verticals as you go along. I found that I was trying to stack them too close together and was getting a "curve" going, lol. Hm, I'll have to try that on purpose sometime! Are you smiling yet? Let's have a look - see you over at the challenge! Happy Thoughts Paper Pumpkin; plus, Soft Sky & Whisper White CS; Bermuda Bay Ink; Banner Triple & Petite Pennant Builder (retired) Punches; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. OK, very cool sketch at this week's In{k}spire Me #206 - make sure you check out the DT samples - so creative! So, wow, I sure dithered over this one! I had such a hard time choosing a starting point, before I finally settled on Butterfly Basics, which I just don't use often enough, darn it! I really wanted to use that fern frond, lol. I tried to keep the colors simple, but still add some dimension, with stamping and stamping off. In the end, I'm so happy with this sweet card - why do I wait so long to get back to some sets? Butterfly Basics & Hardwood Stamp Sets; Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz & Whisper White CS; Crumb Cake, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral & Early Espresso Inks; Butterflies Thinlets; Bitty Butterfly Punch; 3/8" SAB 2015 Ribbon in Calypso Coral. OK, totally cute sketch at this week's Create With Connie & Mary #363! Very fresh - this calls for something over the top! And THAT calls for Calling All Heroes, lol... While I know I'm in a weird color mood this week, this is also my way of letting you know - be sure to check out the old releases of individual photopolymer sets - they're not in the catalog, and Stampin' Up! has let us know that the remaining ones are now "while supplies last!" Remember how much you wanted Calling All Heroes? What about the awesome Map It Out, or the lovely Gentle Peace? Check here for what's still available, and get it before it's gone! Calling All Heroes Stamp Set; Bermuda Bay & Whisper White CS; Watermelon Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Cucumber Crush & Blackberry Bliss Inks; Lucky Stars Embossing Folder; Banner Punch; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Another fun sketch at this week's Freshly Made Sketches #194! You KNOW I'm not going for those squares as presented, right?? Hard to resist trotting out our big Celebrate Today balloons for this one, lol. Other than that, I went with a very literal interpretation of this sketch! I'm also working on figuring out my own new and pleasing color combinations, and I wanted something bright today, so I took these three out for a spin! It was nice to have Paper Pumpkin at my back for some details, hee hee... Celebrate Today & Birthday Bundle Paper Pumpkin Stamp Sets; Birthday Bundle Gift Bag DSP Scraps; Cucumber Crush, Pumpkin Pie & Whisper White CS; Pumpkin Pie, Cucumber Crush & Bermuda Bay Inks; Balloon Framelts; Banner Punch. |
