Look at this fun sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #145! Just perfect to pair with Nacho Average Challenge #98's color spread! Hm, makes me feel like a snack, for some reason... A CUPCAKE snack, lol! Had to break in this year's new cupcake set, Cupcake Party, sooner or later, and I don't think I'll get handed a better color challenge for it! I had to do a few different things for me here, starting with my layers having to be slightly off center in order to accommodate the sentiment flags. I liked how it looked, but then I felt like it had a bit of room for a little bling. Hah! This was my chance to try coloring pearls with my new Blenda pens! (Yes, that's my new official abbreviation for "Blendabilities," let's all adopt it now! You know you all say "Pop Dots" instead of "Dimensionals," too. You're welcome!) And don't those cherries look happy? Cupcake Party Stamp Set; Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cale & Whisper White CS; Blushing Bride, Cherry Cobbler & Crumb Cake Inks; Cupcake Builder Punch; Basic Jewel Pearls; Blendabilities Marker in Cherry Cobbler (the darkest one.) Hm, I don't work with sequins very much, so this week's Merry Monday #117 will be a challenge for me! Do I even have any sequins? Oh wait, I DO have sequins - I have that Gold Sequin Trim! I'll pick it apart! I decided the theme would go great with one of new my holiday sets - Christmas Bliss. This set is packed full of awesome holiday sentiments - so I picked a sparkly one, lol. I love that this set is photopolymer - once again, a snap to place my images, without having to use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig! Yay! The other half of this phrase is on the inside - "May the sparkle of the stars and all the peace on earth be yours this Christmas." Christmas Bliss Stamp Set; Old Olive, Real Red & Whisper White CS; Encore Gold, Old Olive & Real Red Inks; Gold Embossing Powder; Stars Framelits; Gold Sequin Trim. Pumpkin Club July 26! One of the many things fascinating me in this year's catty are the new borders photopolymer sets - they all have something fun about them! Clean & Simple #298 is the perfect sketch to play with them! As soon as I saw this one, I knew I'd be trotting out Boutique Borders - the only question in my mind was what my color scheme would be. Since it's kind of hazy and muggy out while our monsoon drags on, I decided to lighten things up - something bright and refreshing! These colors together remind me of a sherbert sundae with sprinkles - yum! Since Boutique Borders is photopolymer, how fun would it be to curve the stamp around into shapes on the block? Have to try that next... Boutique Borders & Fabulous Four Stamp Sets; Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral & Whisper White CS; Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride & Pumpkin Pie Inks; Brights Candy Dots in Bermuda Bay; PL Corner Rounder Punch. That makes this a great time to break in a new DSP! I decided also that I was having blackberry withdrawal - it's been at least a week, right? So bring on those berries! Today's stamp set is a new one to me - Blessed by God. There's a more solid looking cross, and this pretty floral one, too. I made it look even fancier by coloring the white embossing with my Blendabilities Markers! I've tried this in the past without much success - our regular markers are of course water-based, but the alcohol base of the Blendas makes them colorfast for all kinds of applications - you could also color pearls and rhinestones with them, though I left mine silver for this card. Nifty! Blessed by God Stamp Set; Park Lane DSP; Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss & Old Olive CS; Versamark Ink; White Embossing Powder; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; Flower Frenzy Die; Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry & Cherry Cobbler Bleandability Markers. Class is $20, all supplies included, in a color scheme of your choice. Email today! I am so loving have a little Pumpkin Party every week with My Pumpkin Challenge #0714 - Celebrate! This week, I decided a little set of fun notes in our Pinwheel Party theme would be just right for adding a little bit of extra anticipation to our next supper night! We love to open our home to friends for dinner: come as you are, have a good time, but know how welcome you are here! Don't want to formal it up too much, so these little 3" Square Notes don't lay it on TOO thick, I'm thinking! These are all ready to hand out on Sunday! I'm a bit chagrined that I've had to revert back to my retired star punches for this set - the smallest star in the new framelits wasn't quite the right size for my sentiment... Producing the layers was a snap: the notes are 3" x 6", folded in half, and the CS layer is 2 7/8" square. To size the DSP pieces, cut each pinwheel shape into its 4 obvious triangles, stack two of the triangles, and trim one short edge of both triangles to 2 3/4" - the patterns will still be proportional on your smaller triangle! As a bonus, I tried to align the little pre-pierced holes to be on the edge I cut off... So what are you celebrating with YOUR Pumpkin this week? Paper Pumpkin Pinwheel Party; plus, Whisper White, Night of Navy & Real Red CS; Real Red Inks; Large Star Punch (retired) & Movers & Shapers Bigz die with Star Shape (retired); Basic Jewel Jumbo Rhinestone (retired.) This works out awesome for me, because this week's challenge is to visit their archives and choose a sketch and color challenge to combine. Since I haven't played with them for that long, now's my chance to do some catching up! First to pick my combo: I went with In{k}spiration #80 and the Color Challenge #52, to go with the stamp set I have in mind! So, I made a tiny adjustment to the colors called for - the original color challenge called for Baja Breeze, which is now retired {SOB}, so I subbed in Pool Party. I think it works! I thought the layout would be perfect for a new stamp set called Think Happy, which features little clouds, happy and sad, and sweet accompanying sentiments. Today I went with a "sorry" card - mostly because I really wanted to use that swirly thunderhead cloud! Can you tell I'm so relieved that our monsoon season has started here in AZ?? Think Happy Stamp Set; Pool Party, Marina Mist & Whisper White CS; Not Quite Navy & Marina Mist Inks; Arrows Embossing Folder; PL Corner Rounder Punch. Summer School is Winding Down! Love the little banner shape on this week's Fresh Made Sketch #144 - can never have too many chances to use my awesome framelit set! It also seemed like a great time to pull Calling All Heroes back out - the combos in this set are so fascinating!! Today, I was totally inspired by Justin K's card - he did this little layered cityscape that I knew I wanted to try! I had fun with it, and tried to make it "taller," lol, to fit this sketch... And yes, I KNOW Shazam didn't wear a mask, not even in the movie! I just wanted to take some of the other masks out for an inky spin! Calling All Heroes Stamp Set; Whisper White, Night of Navy, So Saffron, Soft Sky & Crumb Cake CS; Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray & Cherry Cobbler Inks; Regals Button in Crushed Curry; Banners Framelits. Have to make this one shine... Today I started with the DSP - LOVE this Lullaby paper. It totally is a natural fit for baby cards, though I had intended to make something else work, oh well. I just love this baby set and framelits so much, hard to pass them up! People 'round here better start having more babies, lol! Today I felt like a bit of coloring - so, what's black and white (or Vanilla) and read (or Red) all over? Ar ar, I crack myself up... I was thinking this sweetie might also be manly enough for a guy card, too - there's just one little jumbo rhinestone, who could find fault with that? Feeling tappy...
