What a fun color combo at this week's Nacho Average Challenge #92! I decided today to play with some simple backgrounds, and build them myself with Gorgeous Grunge. I have learned the hard way that less is more, lol - I guess I just don't have that Jackson Pollock touch! This final version has just the right touches of color without getting muddy... Kind of a clean grunge, if I do say so myself! Gorgeous Grunge & Perfect Pennants Stamp Sets; Island Indigo, Crushed Curry & Whisper White CS; Perfect Plum, Crushed Curry & Island Indigo Inks; 1/2" Circle Punch; 1/4" Grosgrain in Perfect Plum.

I'm really liking the interwoven layers at this week's Retro Sketches #117, so I decided to make this one all about some fun DSP! I'm pretty smitten with the Moonlight DSP pack, just the right mix of my fave new In Colors with some solid neutrals - I wanted to squeeze in as much as I could! So I decided to go all talk, talk, talk with the stamping - lot's going on in the backgrounds, lol... Another Thank You & Life's Adventure Stamp Sets; Moonlight DSP Pack; Whisper White, Lost Lagoon & Sahara Sand CS; Basic Black & Blackberry Bliss Inks; 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Hello, Honey; Itty Bitty Accents & Wide Oval Punch; Neutrals Candy Dots in Basic Gray. Cool and modern - that's what this week's Merry Monday #111 - Aqua & White color challenge is! I decided to pull out a stamp that didn't get much play at the time, and add some little sparkly spots. I've actually not ever been a fan of white wreaths much (bad childhood incident with a feather monstrosity my grandmother was unfortunately enamored with at the time - I SWEAR it was an accident) but on a card, it looks pretty sweet, don'tcha think? I sure do! It was an interesting challenge to get three different colored glitter spots so close together as well - next time, maybe I'll just try straight glue dots! Wonderful Wreath & Greetings of the Season Stamp Sets; Whisper White, Soft Sky & Calypso Coral CS; Calypso Coral (en envelope) and Whisper White Craft Inks; White Embossing Powder; Red, Celery & Turquoise Glitter; PL Corner Rounder Punch; 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain in Whisper White. I so adore our challenge this month at My Pumpkin Challenge #0614 - Everything Happy! We all need more of that! And it's perfect for all the happy little pieces and elements in this month's kit - Hey, Man! For my first offering, I stayed fairly close to the suggested kit designs. But of course I wanted to add SOMETHING! I might be headed towards burnout here, but I decided to sneak in some baby goodies on this Father's Day card - who can resist these cute little framelits? Trot out some ties in coordinating colors, and I have just the right add-on for my kit card! Paper Pumpkin Hey, Man; plus, Very Vanilla CS; Wild Wasabi & Soft Suede Inks; Something for Baby Stamp Set; Baby's First Framelits. OK, adorable sketch at this week's In{k}spire Me #149! So much movement! Per usual, I knew I had to play with shape just a tiny bit, lol - so I did a little row of duckies! I've been dreaming about different colored hordes of these guys since I first got this set, and this doesn't exactly go THERE yet, but it's a good warm up! The sentiment continues on the inside of course, "...for your cute little someone!" Something for Baby & Something to Say Stamp Sets; Lullaby DSP; Whisper White, Pistachio Pudding, Hello Honey, Coastal Cabana & Crisp Cantaloupe CS; Baby's First Framelits; Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana & Hello Honey Inks; 1 1/4" Circle Punch. I'd be totally remiss if I didn't announce a happy little reminder - new catty is now LIVE!! Shop away, my pretties - that's what I'll be doing! Celebrando Creatividad is also up, of course, I love having a few spanish sets on hand! Clicking on the catalog picture will take you to a pdf of the catty, and of course, you can always shop online in my store, too. To kick us off, for the month of June, Stampin' Up! is also offering a smaller $50 starter kit for those that want to join! You can also still get the larger $99 kit if you prefer. Email me if you want to talk it over, and here's a flyer of some more details - I'd love to have you on my team, and you'll love the benefits! What a lovely wide-open field in this week's Freshly Made Sketch #138! I think calls for another catch-up day on scripture, lol... Think I'll break out my lovely new DSP, too! I'm not so familiar with Psalm 40 (slimy pits, and all) - but the stamp had the right real estate, lol... And having a firm place to stand is always helpful... Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 12; Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar & Crisp Cantaloupe CS; Lullaby DSP; Hello Honey & Baked Brown Sugar Inks; PL Corner Rounder Punch; White Baker's Twine; Neutrals Button in Crumb Cake; 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Hello Honey. Wow, I'm really getting to pair up Nacho Average Challenge (#91) and Fab Friday (#42) a LOT this year! This time, I decided to play with my new stamp set, Work of Art. This is the one I received as part of my attendance at the catalog premiere event - and it's in wood! It's funny, I really don't buy wood much anymore, except for the single stamps that I can't live without. It was so bizarre putting it together! When I was creating the background portion of this card with the chevron stamp, I had to use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, of course. Let me tell you - it was so nice using wood-mounts with the SAMJ! Very solid - no stamp popping off because my block isn't perfectly pristine! Not quite nice enough to make me switch back from clear-mount, but maybe I'll clean up my blocks this afternoon, lol... Work of Art stamp set; Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe & Whisper White CS; Summer Starfruit, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe & Pool Party Inks; Subtles Button in Pool Party; Calypso Coral Baker's Twine (shh!) Also, we've finally finished our run of the pop-up card classes! Yay! I'm so glad everyone enjoyed it so much - it was a lot of fun! For those that missed it, here's the instruction sheet for our Pop-Up Cards. And for those who couldn't get enough snacks - here's the recipe for Fudgy Brownie Cups. My only secret is that I actually only make 12 instead of 20 with the same size recipe - more fudgy brownie and more pastry - yum! Start watching the oven at about 12 minutes, too... |
