So many possibilities at this week's In{k}spire Me #147! I decided to take a browse through the retired sets for this one - feeling nostalgic... So here's a fun little number from the vaults today - Fashion Statements, a hostess set from 2005! (You thought I'd bring out the chickens, didn't you? I know you did!) I actually got this set for the cute little bra on a hanger, with the sentiment, "Thanks for your support!" I had (and gave away) bras in every color of the rainbow, lol... I never actually used the sweet angel wings that also come with it, and this wardrobe perfectly met my need to fussy cut today! I also decided I liked the look of the offset circles on the layered sentiment better... Hopefully it's not too eyeball-ey! You know, I'm starting to like my chalk marker better than my white gel pen. Who'd a thunk it?? Fashion Statements (retired 2006) Stamp Set; Raspberry Ripple, Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake & Whisper White CS; Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip & Basic Black Inks; Chalk Marker; 1" and 1 1/4" Circle Punches; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Basic Jewel Rhinestone. Pop Up Card Class May 31! Are you sad you missed our Pop-Up Card Class? Of course you are! But there's still time to fit it in - one more chance! We'll be making 4 cards, that all fold flat and fit in standard envelopes, but pop up and out to yummy goodness on the inside! We'll be doing "portrait" and "landscape" cards both, for a little variety, and one card will be all about our new In Colors, so you'll have some samples right away, to go with your amazing new catalog that will be waiting here for you! I can't wait for you to try these cards - you'll be stunned at how fun they are to deck out! Class is still on for Saturday, May 31, 10 am (please note time change!), chez Heroldt, with snacks and drinks as usual, of course, still for $20! RSVP today to make sure I have your supplies cut and waiting for you!

Fun little layered elements at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #136! Since they made a point of being so reassuring about choosing our own shapes, I decided to return to my preview hostess set, Life's Adventure, for another fun image to go with! For some reason, I decided I wanted to take the cool arrows from the Retro Fresh DSP off the bias - now I have some funky triangles leftover to play with later, too, sigh. I'm so enamored of this color scheme, though, and it was fun to make this little retro colored bike with my markers! Life's Adventure Stamp Set; Retro Fresh DSP; Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana & a tiny sliver of Tangerine Tango CS; Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana & Tangerine Tango Inks; Basic Metal Buttons; PL Corner Rounder Punch. RSVP today to make sure I have your supplies cut and waiting for you! The elements of this week's Nacho Average Sketch #89 really take me back - I used to be SUCH a floral silhouette junkie! I still have a hard time staying away from them, as you can see from today's card! I'm keeping this one SUPER simple - a single tone-on-tone layer, no ribbons, no embellies, just color and sentiment. That's all you need! The weird thing is, I've never made such a stripped down card before - I'm so struck by the elegance! It's really hard for me not to start throwing on pearls or something, lol... I did sneak in a tiny bit of "blending" with the markers: I colored the blooms first in Calypso Coral, stamped off once, then colored again without cleaning the stamp, in Pool Party. I added the Pear Pizzazz then as well. I'm liking the effect. Morning Meadow (retiring) Stamp Set; Whisper White CS; Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party & Calypso Coral Markers; PL Corner Rounder Punch. RSVP today to make sure I have your supplies cut and waiting for you! I love the challenge at Merry Monday #108 this week - use stars! Lucky for me, every star punch I own is out on my desk this week for the Pop-Up class - see how it all works out? Getting started on this card, I just KNEW I'd be designing around the lovely single stamp, Christmas Star, and I knew I'd be embossing it - it's just so dramatic that way. I decided I didn't want to cut the star down, so I up-sized to a 5 1/4" square card, and embossed the sentiment too, for good measure. After all that work I decided to just punch out all different stars for a little "spray" of them diagonally across the card - and I love how it came out! (Though I wish the silver emboss photographed better...) Christmas Star (retired? I get so confused on the singles) & Christmas Messages (I guess this one is retired, too?) stamp sets; Season of Style DSP (definitely retired) & Silver Glimmer Specialty DSP; Encore Silver Ink; Silver Embossing Powder; Large & Small Star (retired, sigh) & Itty Bitty Accent Star Punches. RSVP today to make sure I have your supplies cut and waiting for you! Time for another installment of this month's My Pumpkin Challenge #0514 - Tags Everywhere! Here's how I "stepped up" from last's week's edition! I decided to go bigger - for a really special package, or maybe a little love letter on the back, you never know! I hand-cut this overall tag shape to get to the size I wanted, so it's still a basic angled tag shape. I also tried my hand at stamping on ribbon for this one - the Pear Pizzazz ink I tried the first time really didn't show as much as I wanted, so I went with Calypso Coral. And lastly, heat-embossing on DSP was also new to me, but I wanted the color to be really saturated for some extra pop! Enjoy! Paper Pumpkin-Framed Love; plus, Pool Party & Crumb Cake CS; Calypso Coral & Versamark Inks; Pool Party Embossing Powder; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Natural Trim Ribbon; Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Pop Up Card Class May 15, 19 & 31! I have also now added a day class for Monday, May19 at 10 AM, and a Saturday class for May 31, 2 pm. Just sing out if you prefer either of those days! Yay, I'm able to squeeze in Retro Sketches #114 this week - and it's a cool one! I decided to squeeze in a retiring stamp set, along with some new goodies - this period of star-crossed alignment is all too brief, alas... You know, I didn't notice how much like a band-aid this card looks til now, either - that's a happy chance! Tag It (retiring) & Something To Say (IBC 2014-15) Stamp Sets; Lullaby DSP (IBC 2014-15); Baked Brown Sugar, Hello Honey (New In Color!) & Whisper White CS; Baked Brown Sugar & Hello Honey Inks; Chalk Talk Framelits; Thick Baker's Twine in Baked Brown Sugar (IBC 2014-15). Pop Up Class May 15 & May 31st! I am also delighted to schedule a convenient day-time class for those that prefer, just let me know, and we'll get our calendars aligned for whatever works for you best!! Check out that funky flag shape on this week's Clean & Simple #291! It reminds me of a lizard tongue, lol... I know that's normally my kind of thing, but let's NOT go there today, ok? Especially since I still have time to sneak in a quick color challenge from In{k}spire Me #146, too - yummy! They must know purple and green is my favorite combo! So, for some reason, I can't stop using Betsy's Blossoms now that it's retiring, lol. In this case, they just seem a natural fit for this color challenge! Leaves AND flowers - perfect! Someone might need to take my Decorative Dots embossing folder away, too, but really, it goes with EVERYTHING! Betsy's Blossoms (retiring) & Lots of Thanks Stamp Sets; Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Pistachio Pudding & Rich Razzleberry CS & Inks; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Brights Candy Dots in Rich Razzleberry. Pop Up Card Class May 15 or May 31! Here's our last sample for next week's Pop-Up Card Class - another "portrait" version, and this one featuring our awesome new In Colors! And I know I always say I won't get any more baby sets, but this one has FRAMELITS! You KNOW I'm a sucker for that! Look how cute it looks! Now I just need my friends to start having babies! Again! Remember, we'll be making 4 cards, that all fold flat and fit in standard envelopes, but pop up and out to yummy goodness on the inside! I am also delighted to schedule a convenient day-time class for those that prefer, just let me know, and we'll get our calendars aligned for whatever works for you best!! As soon as I saw this week's Freshly Made Sketch #135 and Sunday Stamps #75 color challenge, I knew JUST what I wanted to do! It so helps that I have my preview order items on hand to play with, too! You're going to LOVE the other hostess set I pre-ordered - Life's Adventure. Such cute and whimsical images! There are a couple that are sort of vertically oriented - that's what I headed straight for to use in this sketch! The color challenge basically clinched it - yummy celebration colors! Life's Adventure Stamp Set; Whisper White, Basic Black, Coastal Cabana & Melon Mambo CS; Basic Black, Coastal Cabana & Melon Mambo inks; Apothecary Accents & Bitty Banner Framelits; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Dotted Black Grosgrain (rogue, sorry, hard to pass up the basic colors in the Michael's bargain bin); PL Corner Rounder Punch. Pop Up Card Class May 15 & May 31! Here's our next sample for next week's Pop-Up Card Class - another one in the "landscape" orientation. I made this one a graduation card, but of course you could change the center to be any of the sentiments that come in that set! Remember, we'll be making 4 cards, that all fold flat and fit in standard envelopes, but pop up and out to yummy goodness on the inside! We'll be doing "portrait" and "landscape" cards both, for a little variety, and one card will be all about our new In Colors, so you'll have some samples right away, to go with your amazing new catalog that will be waiting here for you! I am also delighted to schedule a convenient day-time class for those that prefer, or a Saturday as well, just let me know, and we'll get our calendars aligned for whatever works for you best!! I've already scheduled one for Saturday May 31st, 2 pm, if that date works for you! It's going to be a bright and cheery combo with Retro Sketches #113 and Nacho Average Challenge #88 teaming up! I tried to resist, but one of the pre-order sets I HAD to have, was one of our new hostess sets, Nuts about You. The images are too cute: birds, squirrels, a possum - what's not to love? This will be a fun set to ink up with markers, too, which is what I originally had in mind. But I figured this color challenge was close enough for getting started with - I want to get this baby inky! Nuts about You Stamp Set; Watercolor Wonder DSP; Whisper White, Pacific Point, Gumball Green & Daffodil Delight CS; Basic Black, Gumball Green & Pacific Point Inks; Woodgrain Embossing Folder; Sweet Sorbet Button (retired) in Daffodil Delight; Candy Dots in Pacific Point. Pop Up Card Class May 15! Here's our next sample for next week's Pop-Up Card Class - this one in the "landscape" orientation. Who wouldn't love this sweet birthday card? Remember, we'll be making 4 cards, that all fold flat and fit in standard envelopes, but pop up and out to yummy goodness on the inside! Oh wow - Merry Monday #107 is an actual sketch this week! At first glance, it looks like a challenge, too - time to break this baby down! Since SU! (and I mean this in the nicest possible way, with love in my heart!) isn't even pretending to include holiday stamps in the main catalog anymore (and I know this because I have your new catalogs waiting for you!), I have now totally lost all residual guilt I feel about browsing my retired stamp sets for this challenge, lol. One of my old faves, that totally didn't see enough ink, is this one, Rejoicing With You - love that partyin' angel! While I was at first intimidated by the tricky layers in this sketch, I decided to take my usual liberties with shapes, and arrived at a finished card that I actually liked! I even got to make two, so you could see the inside sentiment! Woo hoo! Rejoicing With You (retired) Stamp Set; Smoky Slate, Whisper White & Island Indigo CS; Winter Frost DSP Pack (retired); Versamark, Island Indigo & Smoky Slate Inks; Silver Embossing Powder; Apothecary Accents & Ovals Collection Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template; Frosted Finishes Embellishments (retired). Pop-Up Card Class May 15! Wow - I can't believe I almost forgot to post our class for next week, too! Yikees! This class is all about Pop-Up cards, like the first sample you can see over here to the side!
