OK, this week's Retro Sketch #159 is ADORABLE! Love that little banner garland! Even though it's technically retired now, I had to use the Sale-A-Bration You Brighten My Day banner stamp on this one, and of course, I went nutso with the colors! My philosophy is, when you can't make up your mind, have ALL the desserts, know what I mean? I kept up with the "Yay" theme, and snuck on a little wavy "congrats," too! This will be a fun one to give! You Brighten My Day, Balloon Bash & Something to Say Stamp Sets; Birthday Bash DSP; Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive & Whisper White CS; Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point & Rich Razzleberry Inks; White Baker's Twine; Banner Punch; Bitty Banners Framelits. Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! You will be, too! This month we will be making a beautiful corsage for that special lady in your life: Mom, BFF, inspiration in your life (maybe even yourself - you deserve it!) - to wear again and again. The corsage is made up with a sample of each flower type in the gorgeous Build A Bouquet Project kit from our Occasions Mini catalog, and comes with a hat pin and stopper for fixing in place. I have prepped each kit for us, and divvied everything out ahead of time to make this class ride on rails: I'll be working right along with you to help further explain all the tricks I learned along the way! Class is still on for Saturday, April 11, 3 pm, chez Heroldt. Class is $20, and includes all supplies and instructions, plus snacks, drinks and a gift! Just bring your usual kit, and a hot glue gun! RSVP now so I can make sure to have your supplies prepped and ready for you! (And be sure to let me know if you need different dates - I'm always happy to work with your schedule!)

Here we are with take two of Clean & Simple #6! I think I'll pair it with this week's subtle color challenge at Can You Case It #64! I decided I wanted to reverse what may have been a more expected color order, and work with a black background - how to make the colors pop? This turned out to be SO hard, because I just don't have that many different papers or supplies in the challenge colors. I finally remembered that the Valentine's DSP Stacked With Love had Crisp Cantaloupe in it, and I figured I would do the sentiment in Pistachio Pudding. I had to fake it a tiny bit by using the palest Wild Wasabi blendie to color my white emboss for part of it. I think it matches really well! It still needed just a touch of something, and a quick dig through a stack of pumpkin boxes got me these pistachio sequins from All Shook Up. Yum! Crazy About You Stamp Set; Stacked With Love DSP; Whisper White, Pistachio Pudding & Basic Black CS; White Craft Ink; White Embossing Powder; Pale Wild Wasabi Blendie (discontinued); 1" Square Punch; Hello You Thinlets; Pistachio Pudding Sequins from All Shook Up Paper Pumpkin. Now we can get our pumpkin started with this month's My Pumpkin Challenge 0415 - Sew Pretty, Sew Simple! I think it'll be fun to match with this week's fancy sketch at In{k}spire Me #192! I had to rotate the sketch to make this work out, of course, but still, it seems to have worked out pretty well! I only added a couple accessories from outside the Pumpkin Kit, and I did go shopping for an alternate sentiment. Fun times! The biggest challenge I'm finding in this kit is how to dress the envelopes - on this card, I embossed the flap with some dots to accompany the dotted background of my "salvaged" card base, lol... Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Peachy Keen Stamp Set; Daffodil Delight, Pool Party & Whisper White CS; Pool Party Ruffle Ribbon; Subtles Buttons in Pool Party; Snowflake Card Thinlet; Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. Wow - I really love the simple elegance of this week's sketch at Create With Connie & Mary #349! Time to look over the shapes at my disposal! While I really felt the tug of all the gorgeous flowers I have, I decided to try out some stars - and play with some of Brights colors! Once I made those decisions, it all just sort of came together pretty quick, I have to say. I so enjoy the "hand-sketched" feel of the stars in the Be The Star stamp set - so fun! I added a scatter of sparkle, and we were all set! Be The Star & Crazy About You Stamp Sets; Whisper White & Rich Razzleberry CS; Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Daffodil Delight & Rich Razzleberry Inks; Hello You Thinlets; Stars & Bitty Banner Framelits; Basic Jewel Rhinestones & Jumbo Rhinestones (retired.) Now this is fun sketch at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #180! I think I'll try to squeeze in the lovely inspiration pic over at Just Add Ink #251, too! I focused mainly on the colors from the inspiration pic at JAI, but I also tried to pull in a touch of the floral. When I think of floral in the graceful curve shape on the FMS sketch, I can't help but think of the flower in Regarding Dahlias! It seems like the perfect fit! I tried to do some unexpected things with the colors, and had fun playing with the ribbons - I always found this stretch ruffle trim a challenge to use, but I love how the ruffles pair up when layered with the ruffled ribbon. It came out positively frilly! Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set; Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, & Whisper White CS; Baked Brown Sugar & Calypso Coral Inks; White Tea Lace Doily; Stretch Ruffle Trim in Crisp Cantaloupe; Ruffled Ribbon in Calypso Coral; Linen Thread; Snowflake Card Thinlets; Corner Rounder Punch; In Color Boutique Details in Baked Brown Sugar. Hey, cool sketch at this week's Nacho Average Challenge #135! I love it when we can add in the cute little details like this! Now that Sale-A-Bration is over {SOB}, I guess I'll do a little homage to some of my fave products. The Best Day Ever suite was definitely at the top of my list this year - I still can't get enough of this DSP! I even tried stamping on some - and it actually worked! Go me! Best Day Ever Stamp Set; Best Day Ever DSP; Whisper White & Soft Suede CS; Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana & Crushed Curry Inks (my alliterative collection, lol.); Banner Punch (for flagging strips); Basic Jewel Rhinestones. Woo hoo - sweet sketch at this week's Sunday Stamps #98! I wonder if I can make it a Christmas card with Merry Monday #152's non-traditional color challenge! I don't know about you, but when a challenge suggests a lime color, you KNOW I'm going straight for Lucky Limeade!! It's just a no-brainer! I did go ahead and keep things pretty clean and simple - I just want these bright colors to POP off the card! I think I succeeded - and I think I've used this set in non-traditional Christmas colors before, lol... Festival of Trees Stamp Set; Whisper White & Tempting Turquoise CS; Lucky Limeade (retired), Tempting Turquoise & Whisper White Craft Inks; White Embossing Powder; Tree & Merry Mini Star Punches; Everyday Enchantment Organdy Ribbon in Lucky Limeade (retired.) Time for our FABULOUS color challenge, all about SPRING at this week's Fab Friday #61! I'm matching it up with take two of Clean & Simple #5, too - let's see what happens! What happens is the simplest and sweetest thank you card ever! The curved line in the sketch got me thinking of a flower stem, which sent me over to Lotus Blossom for a dramatic version. Only question is, can I show off the layer details with such pale colors? I'm game - and happy with the results! Now THIS is minimalism! Lotus Blossom & Good Greetings Stamp Sets; Whisper White & Soft Sky CS; Pink Pirouette & Pear Pizzazz Inks; Subtles Candy Dots in So Saffron; Spring Flowers Embossing Folder. Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! You will be, too! I'm really happy with the clean lines in this week's Can You Case It #63 - so many different ways to go with this sketch! So, let's make a man card, shall we? It's a snap with Guy Greetings standing by, lol. I figure this will go over well as an anniversary card - ours is coming right up! I had to get creative with the placement of some of the elements, but darn it, I was determined to use the strong guy on this one - I haven't used it yet! It's a tiny bit ironic that I made this Mossy Meadow colored card for DH, since he's red-green color-blind. Oh well! Guy Greetings Stamp Set; Mossy Meadow, Sahara Sand & Whisper White CS; Memento Tuxedo Black, Mossy Meadow, Basic Gray, Early Espresso & Crushed Curry Ink; Flesh Tone Blendies (discontinued, sob); Neutrals Buttons in Early Espresso; Striped Satin Ribbon in Mossy Meadow; Early Espresso Baker's Twine. Mother's Day Corsage Class I am so excited to announce this class - and I'm THRILLED with how our project came out! You will be, too! Even though we're taking a much-needed breather at My Pumpkin Challenge this week, I still think of this as Pumpkin Wednesday, lol! And what better way to show off our Pumpkins than by hooking up with this week's Retro Sketch #158?? So, I even decided to keep a square card base to go with the sketch, which, in my opinion, also pairs perfectly with the elements of Sew You! I started with a layer from one of our card base choices in the Pumpkin Kit, then used one of the sewing cards to trace the curve called for in my blue layer. I used that same punched piece as a template to pierce the "you" onto a piece of Daffodil Delight, which I then stitched with our white Baker's Twine instead of the yellow floss from the kit. It's like it all just fell into place! Paper Pumpkin - Sew You; plus, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White CS; White Baker's Twine; Pool Party Ink (on envelope); Star Punch (to flag sentiment.)
