 My first thought was, what a great chance to show off some faboo DSP scraps at this week's Nacho Average Challenge #85! Then when I sat down to play, I went a totally different way - say it with me, folks, I LOVE my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig! I have been wanting to use the decor elements in the Peachy Keen stamp set for a while now, and this seemed like a great chance. I've ended up with a sort of one-layer card - except for the color layers, I guess, but all the stamping is one layer - no extra dimension or embellishments. I really do love this color scheme, as well, totally inspired by the Retro Fresh DSP, which I ended up not using at all. I make weird weird cards when it's overcast here in AZ, hm...  Hey, hey, hey, check out the fun layers at Fab Friday #39! I know I might have gone another way, but really, the chickens have just been incensed lately that they haven't been out much. And with a chance at a blog-post title like that, the clamor was actually deafening! I was able to piece this one together with lots of scraps I found in the folders, and add texture with some of the coordinating stamps - SO much to love in this set! Thanks for indulging my chicken fetish one more time, lol... Who wouldn't want this little green-and-black-speckled guy running around?  Uh oh, another color challenge from this week's Merry Monday #104 - to use slate, kraft and white or cream! In Stampin' Up!'s world, that translates to Smoky Slate (yum!), Crumb Cake (double-yum!) and either Whisper White or Very Vanilla. Gorgeous! After browsing what stamp sets I want to use, I also decided to pair this up with this week's Retro Sketch #110 - the shapes sort of suggest these lines to me... Since we all know what a freak for layers I am, too, I also decided to sneak in a panel of Basic Gray to set off the card front. While the finished card looks a bit subdued, I am thrilled with the end result - perfect and reverent - even the inside. And before you say anything, NO, I wasn't trying to show snow in the desert - I was hoping it might come off as star-like, lol...  This week's My Pumpkin Challenge #0414 - Special Moments gave me a great chance to help out hubby with the fastest appreciation gift bag I've ever made! Bonus! This week it was a serious time challenge, too. "Honey, I'm leaving for a meeting in 15 minutes, and I need something to put this gift in for a referral I got!" Sigh. Paper Pumpkin to the rescue! I knew I wanted use one of the "thank yous" from this month's kit, Glittered Greetings, and I knew I wanted to use on of my bags still remaining from "In The Bag." That only left details. What to do for the tag base? An already stamped dahlia I found in that stamp set pretty much set the rest! Hope she likes yellow! Fastest fussy cut in the West! And for the record, 10 minutes flat for the whole shebang! Go, me!  When I saw these challenges pop up, I knew they were meant to go together, if only for the blog title it let's me write, lol! Let's celebrate the marriage of In{k}spire Me #142 and Sunday Stamps #73 today! I think this combo really calls for the cute little lamb in this year's Easter set, Eggstra Spectacular - just right! In order to really bring out the color challenge, I started by creating a stamped background with the egg element - the proportions worked out perfectly. Since I somehow don't have any ribbon in any of the colors (gasp!!) I decided to trot out the lace tape. A little splash of Turquoise, and we're all set!  What a lovely clean sketch this week for Clean & Simple #287 - of course! After yesterday's post, you know I'm feeling some stamp anxiety already, so I decided to trot out one I KNOW I'll lose, because it's a Hostess set. So soft and lovely, I'll be sorry to see this one go... I also need to do some work on the scripture box, so I decided to pull out some quotes to see what I could make fit into the sketch - Micah 6:8 wins! One of the things I finally also realized is that I can pair up that awesome window sheet from Quatrefancy with ANY color, not just the ones that came in the DSP pack with it. What a revelation! I think it adds a really sophisticated touch...  Woo hoo, the stars align for another exciting match-up this week, of Freshly Made Sketch #131 and Nacho Average Challenge #84! Love it! So, not to stress anyone out, but, this is the time of year I start looking at my stamp shelves with a certain amount of, hm, anxiety. The date for the retired list is fast approaching, Monday April 21, I think? What will be on it? Did I use my faves enough? Did I miss one that I'm really in love with and wasn't paying attention? Did I get one because of a card I saw that I then never made? Oh gosh, did this poor set fall behind the shelf and I totally forgot about it?! Like I said, anxiety, lol. So today's card is made with a set that I basically haven't touched since convention - I used it to make one of my swaps, so I guess I felt like I had seen it enough for a while!  Oh gosh, I love snowmen! Yay, that this week's Merry Monday #103 is to use a snowman on our card again! Pfft, twist my arm! I decided to dip back into the retired stamp sets again, and this time I went with the set The More The Merrier - I so love all the images in this one, though I seem to have lost one of the sentiments along the way, sigh... Ready for our next class? I'm excited to try another kit, this one from this year's Sale-A-Bration catalog - the Heartfelt Banner! The kit comes with lots of very sweet accessories, and of course, I've done my bit to add some extra details for us! All you need are your own pictures, or even quotes, and you don't need to bring them to class, you can add them later when you're ready, because they just clip on! Heck, the banner is cute without the pictures, too... I know it's kind of hard to see, but the sample I made below features my younger sister's recent wedding, and I plan to send it to her for her birthday in May. Accordingly, I chose to add the phrase "true love." You can add any word or phrase of your choice, up to nine letters would work best for the banner. Maybe "family," "I love you," or "bad boys," lol... You choose! I have plenty of kits on hand (see what I did with MY Sale-A-Bration rewards??), all you need to do is let me know what word or phrase you want when you RSVP.  This week's Paper Craft Crew #88 is the perfect chance for me to pull out my awesome Angled Tag Topper punch! I've mostly been using the other one lately, for some reason... I've also really been taken up with the cheery colors in the Watercolor Wonder DSP pack lately. They just put a little grin on my face, what can I say? This saucy little lizard seemed a perfect match, and also let me break out the markers - getting all my faves in on this one!
