 So cute - Addicted to CAS #192 has an "animal" challenge for us this week! One of the sets that didn't make the cut into critter class is Friendly Flamingo. I love the images in this set, and the dies are awesome! I've been having trouble with the shading, though, so I just couldn't get it into class, and I'm still struggling a bit. Today I tried stamping this fine bird in Basic Gray, and then adding the color with Blends, I like this better than when I've stamped in Black - that was too muted. I might be getting closer! Another thing I love about this set is the perfect sentiments - like today's!  Yay! A Very happy birthday to Time Out Challenges #182 - 7 years this week! In celebration of that, we get to make a birthday card today! There's such a lovely birthday sentiment in our gorgeous new Friends Are Like Seashells, I decided to play some more with this suite - this is the first time I've used the amazing embossing folder for it! I did up a pretty panel in Seaside Spray (of course!) and then went over it with a sponge dauber and some Frost White Ink - love this stuff for adding a sheen anywhere I want, lol. I cut out the sentiment with this fun shape from the Potted Succulents Dies, married everything up with some Misty Moonlight and a few Opal Rounds. So many pretty details on this one! We're doing something SO cool this week at Sunday Stamps #252 - let's play with color blocks! I had to think a bit about how I wanted to tackle this one. I really love actually stamping with our blocks, you see, and doing it all in ink was enticing! However, I somehow don't have the right proportions of blocks to make it lock together how I wanted, so I went with DSP. Who could resist the beautiful Oh So Ombre paper from Sale-a-Bration? I can't, especially since they have the one sheet that's back to back Granny Apple Green and Blackberry Bliss!! Purple and green RULES! I fiddled a bit with my ombres, and finished with this lovely banner in Blackberry, with a few epoxy droplets. Crisp and perfect! I can't wait to see what YOU create - meet you at the challenge! Oo, this is sweet - Cardz 4 Guyz #265 is running a "thinking of you" challenge this week! I decided to start by hunting up a likely set to use - and I looked at EVERYTHING! I finally settled on the gorgeous Love of Leaves set, which I haven't used much since the Fall. We can do green leaves, too, you know, lol, so that's what I did, but I still kept the colors fairly low-key, for a guy. A simple Crumb Cake base really sets off my stitched leaves in a range of greens, which take on very different tones on Very Vanilla CS. I like the simple and direct finished look! It's tic-tac-toe time again at this week's Retro Rubber #153! Yay! After a quick study, I chose the top row: birthday-patterned paper-rhinestones - lot of scope there, I think! I quickly gravitated to our elusive Carry On set from 2012 - I still love it, and was one fortunate to get it before it got pulled from the line-up. I decided to go a little traditional, and heat-emboss my sentiments on red, but not TOO traditional, since there's cupcakes involved, so I stamped on this dotty DSP, perfect for a birthday! I finished with some sparkly rhinestones, and "at least you'll always be younger than me" on the inside from Itty Bitty Birthdays. So fun! Extra fun - Less Is More #437 is asking for a one-layer flower card this week - yay! And what a perfect challenge to match to these stately colors from Cupcake Inspirations #513! It occurs to me, I never do my one-layer cards in landscape layout - why is that? Let's try it out today, lol. So of course anything flowers for me is always about the In Bloom set these days, lol. I love the layering possibilities of this set (and the dies, but not today, lol) and mixing colors, it just all works so well! The CI colors made for a bold combo for these simple blooms, that I layered some centers into - very Craftsman!  Another beautiful combo at this week's In{k}spire Me #443! Check out those fun colors! I'm going pretty CAS for this one - I'm really stuck on the white card bases these days, lol. I added a few horizontal bars of Cinnamon Cider, then colored up these pretty flowers from Bloom & Grow for my focal image - I love the dies for these! Our new Water Painters make coloring with our inks so easy - love them, too, lol. I decided it needed some resin dots to finish things off - maybe not as CASE as I thought, lol! And our "anything that flies theme at SU Only #270 goes along perfectly! When I think of flying things, it's hard not to turn to our gorgeous Free As a Bird set - still one of my faves, and I even have some carefully hoarded DSP from the original release! I let that DSP do the talking and simplified our sketch by taking off a corner to let the card base show through. I then stamped this little curious cutie, and a sweet sentient to go with. This came together surprisingly fast! I can't wait to see YOUR projects at our challenges - meet you there!
