 This will be fun - CAS Christmas wants us to create a winter scene this month! I started by browsing my Christmas sets - and just how long has it been since I stamped my penguin?? Decision made! At first I had all kinds of grand plans - I still have some of the sweet DSP that goes with this set, too - but then I remembered - gotta keep it CAS! I've been seeing some gorgeous cards out there in blog-land this week that have beautifully masked backgrounds, so I decided to try it myself, and made this simple background circle from Pool Party and a Blending Brush. I added my "scene" elements directly over this, and then slid in my penguin - I love him so much! I went a little overboard with the snowflakes, so I broke them up a bit with a few last minute trees - all just part of the scene, lol.  Hm, Cupcake Inspiration #537 wants us to think Valentine's Hearts this week! Gladly! I thought I'd be done with Valentine's by now, but alas, there's still a couple MORE challenges I want to hit besides this one, lol. For today's inspiration, I started looking at the picture itself like kind of like a sketch - my attention was really caught by that pink background, the combo of pinks, and the various patterns - stripes AND dots. I figured I'd just pop all that in the blender and see what happened, and this is the result! I did a little torn-edge DSP for my background, and pulled out my Stitched Be Mine dies again for the cute heart, which I also embossed. For a little "pink relief" I heat-embossed the sentiment on black - I should do that more often! I have been itching to ink this one up! Such a simple image, but SO effective heat-embossed in clear on black! I did the center on a separate scrap of white so I could color in that little heart! So fun, and our Layering Circles dies are just the ticket for this beauty! It took me a while to settle on a stamp set for this one, lol. Then I spotted Bubble Over - remember those fun bottles?? I even pulled out an old Chocolate Chip Craft Pad I could heat emboss them with - makes them look like glass in person, I think! I made up some simple bottle labels with our Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, and added a touch of sparkle and bubble with our Epoxy Essentials. Now I'm thirsty!  Ah, I think I can JUST squeak into this week's Festive Friday #102 - a celebration of Valentine's Day! It turns out I do have another Valentine's card in me after all, I couldn't resist when I spotted this punny phrase in my newly arrived Brave Vikings set! Doesn't he look cutie pie in his pink and red?? I laughed the whole time I was making this one, lol. So I pulled out red, pink, sparkle, "romantic" sentiment, lol, hearts and CUTE for this one. So glad I caved and got this one! I think this might be hubby's card this year, lol. Not really a Valentine's theme, since I've mailed out all my Valentines already, lol, but hey, at least I got the cupcakes! I took my color cue from our playful Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, and colored away! I was really struck today by how VERY magenta our Magenta Madness is, lol... Lucky for me, my friend Caroline came to my rescue, with this whimsical image from her stash - I think it's from Pink Ink, and it's VERY vintage, lol. I ran a search again for any sentiments about time, and came up with this one from Best Chapter. And I decided what makes MY soul happy is bringing on the color, so that's exactly what I did! Crisis averted! It adds so much impact to the simplest of images, and since I'm also a huge fan of all things dimensional, this is another way to add more of that, too. For today's card, I used the elegant Bamboo Beauty set, and fussy cut my graceful bamboo trunks, and a touch of leaves, too. I popped them up over some shadow-stamping I did behind them - I love the effect I got! I can't wait to see your projects, too - what's YOUR favorite technique?? Make My Monday #167 wants us to play with the "kissing" technique for stamps this week! Should be cool! Today's card is a little experiment for me, from something I've been thinking over since I first used the Gentle Waves background stamp - I think it could make some pretty awesome sand, too! And if I could make sand, what would happen if I "kissed' on a seashell from Friends Are Like Seashells? Today we find out, lol. I went through a few iterations before I settled on this one - Sahara Sand stamped on White, with a Soft Suede shell kissed on. It looks a little indistinct, like seeing shells in the sand, under the water. It's growing on me!
