![]() Love is still in the air over at My Pumpkin Challenge #0215! What shall we lovey up this week? Let's see if this gorgeous inspiration pic from Just Add Ink #250 brings anything to mind! OK, who am I kidding - of course I went straight for Perfect Blend, lol. Though I cleared most of my kit out for treats for my bug's friends, I have some pieces left for cards, just big enough for the fussy cutting that really makes this coffee cup shine! I feel a Starbuck's run coming on... ![]() I think Retro Sketch #153 will go perfect with this week's SU-per Challenge #76's colors! I really love how Retro's artist, Arielle, rendered this sketch, so I wanted to try my hand at that myself. I wanted to float it a bit, though, so I constructed my layers as a piece that I could dimension up. This is much more stripped down than is usual for me - I love my layers! I also feel like a cheated a bit by adding in a neutral base, but hey, I think it really makes the color challenge pop! I had to dig through my retired DSP box for more colors, too. Even so, this ended up being a super quick card, and of course, since it uses my current fave, Crazy About You, I'm totally smit! Love those thinlets! Crazy About You Stamp Set; Quatrefancy Specialty (retired) & Jackpot (retired) DSP; Crumb Cake & Pink Pirouette CS; Real Ink; Hello You Thinlets; Subltes Buttons in Pink Pirouette; White Baker's Twine. ![]() Pumpkin Club February 28! I think I'll try rendering it in Create With Connie & Mary #342's cool and lovely color challenge. Let's start with the understanding that I seem unable to stick with the circles in the sketch, lol. They're "more like guidelines," right? Browsing the stamp shelves, I was embarrassed to realize that the fun Four Feathers stamp set, which I just had to have partly because it has framelits (awesome!) has hardly ever seen ink - don't you hate that when that happens to you? Because we all know it happens to everyone, lol. Anyway, all I needed to do was find a sentiment to go with, and of course, there was another not-enough-used set for that, too. Sigh. Hopefully I can stave off a visit from the Equal Stamp Rights Coalition just a tad longer... Four Feathers & Blessed by God Stamp Sets; Sahara Sand, Hello Honey, Whisper White & Basic Black CS; Sahara Sand, Hello Honey & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Striped Satin Ribbon in Hello Honey; Feathers Framelits. ![]() Oo, I really like the tilty panels on this week's Freshly Made Sketch #173! I really felt like coloring today. I needed a good image for that, and From the Herd is perfect! It does end up with some interesting color combos, though, when I want to mix it up with the Birthday Bash Specialty DSP, lol... Oh well, these little guys are still cute, and super fun to color! I'll have to make some in Hop on Pop colors, I think... From the Herd Stamp Set; Birthday Bash Specialty DSP; Tangelo Twist, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White & Calypso Coral CS; Memento Tuxedo Black Ink; Soft Suede, Real Red, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Blush Blossom, Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry & Pink Pirouette Markers; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder; Banner Punch (for sentiment); Gold Basic Buttons; Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine. ![]() Check out the soft and sophisticated color challenge at this week's Nacho Average Challenge #128 - it should go great with the sketch at Mojo Monday #384! I totally gravitated straight to our our gorgeous new Sheltering Tree stamp set for this card - I wasn't sure I could really make these soft colors work, but boy-howdy, I think it did. I'm so thrilled with subtle and gorgeous card! If by some crazy chance you haven't yet worked with the new Cotton Ribbon in the big catty, you really need to go for it. I've been still hording some Grosgrain in my fave colors, but I think I'll be moving those along now so that I can fill in my cotton collection! So soft, it's a dream! Sheltering Tree Stamp Set; Pink Pirouette DSP scrap (retired); Smoky Slate, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette & Whisper White CS; Smoky Slate & Blushing Bride Inks; Delicate Designs Embossing Folder; 1/4" Cotton Ribbon in Blushing Bride; Banner Punch (to flag sentiment). ![]() OK, totally cool idea at this week's Merry Monday #145 - Candy Canes! I originally thought I'd go dig out my retired Scentational set, that has a cute candy cane image to cut out with their matching framelits. That was such a cool set! I used to emboss it with our old Peppermint Embossing powder for that extra dimension, lol. But then these Santa guys started dancing around for me, and I thought maybe they were getting bored - we can't have that! I also took a crack at brayering again, to make some minty stripes using the yummy Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP. I love how it turned out! Twirly-whirly stripey candy canes! Visions of Santa Stamp Set; Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP; Whisper White & Real Red CS; Real Red & Memento Tuxedo Black Inks; Cherry Cobbler & Skin Tone Blendies; Mini Treat Bag Thinlets; Regals Candy Dots in Cherry Cobbler. ![]() Birthday Card Class Feb 14! Totally adding Can You Case It? #56's color challenge, too! I tried hard to not necessarily make this a Valentine's card - not too sure how well I succeeded, lol. Come on, people, I'm a married woman! How many Valentines do you think I have?! Hee hee. It was super fun to go to town with my trusty Stacked With Love DSP for this one, and I think it's safe to say that my fave stamp set this Spring is turning out to be Crazy About You - SO many ways to play with this one! Love it! This set NEEDS to transition to the big catty come June... It almost feels like cheating to include this week's Su-per Challenge #75 to use hearts, lol, but oh well! AND, I'm going to try and squeeze in this week's Create With Connie & Mary #341, because well, you know, I'm a sketch-challenge addict. I already said that, remember? And look at that, this week's In{k}spire Me #184 is a Valentine's one - let's toss that in there, too, lol... Crazy!! NOW I understand how those brilliant gals do 5 challenges in one! I always wondered! I have to say up front - this one might just put me over the Valentine's edge, lol! All the elements are just so super sweet - I have a sugar headache! Luckily, I know just who to send this to - a dear, dear friend, that I can't wait to remind is SO loved... Off to the mailbox! Rather than stamping the hexagon shapes, I decided to break into my gorgeous pack of Painted Blooms DSP. I figure if I have a bunch of sheets that have a big ole hex punched out of them, I'll go back and use it more, rather than hoarding it, lol... I can only hope! I pretty much did a straight interpretation of the sketch, but played with the brayer a little on my background, too. Think I need more work with that tool! After a little dithering, I decided to try out the oh-so-cute From the Garden stamp set for this sketch. I'm just so enamored of the framelit set that goes with it that I can't stop myself! The finished card comes out fairly understated, with one bright pop of color in the corner. I tried to add a couple little detail touches to help pull it together, but this is definitely outside my usual color zone, too... Hmm...
