This week's Clean & Simple #279 is just perfect for high-lighting a big ole' sentiment front and center! Think it's time for a scripture card! I started browsing for a sentiment that had the right orientation, and came across this Psalm 62 - I always think this one is one that Shakespeare tapped a bit - "It looks on tempests, and is never shaken..." Hear this in an English accent, of course, Kate Winslet from Sense & Sensibility, lol... That's what I always think of anyway! Our Daily Bread Scripture Collection 4 & Petite Petals stamp sets; Pool Party, Sahara Sand & Whisper White CS; Sweet Sorbet DSP; Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Starfruit, Sahara Sand & Pool Party inks; Large Scallop Edgelit; Delicate Details Lace Tape; Petite Petals Punch; Basic Jewel Pearls. All materials and kits provided for you for $20, but you'll want to bring a bone folder and your hot glue gun for sure, if you have one. Holy smokes - there are some adorable samples over at this week's Freshly Made Sketch #123! I HAD to get in on this one! After digging through the "stamp stash" for some element ideas, I finally settled on A Fitting Occasion. I sorta wonder if this one might be one that retires this year, not that I'm ever any good at making predictions, lol! So, I stayed pretty literal on the sketch layout, but added a lot of color. Turns out, the second smallest circle in the Circles Collection Framelits is just a HAIR bigger than the 1" Circle Punch - just enough to add that tiny little edge of color - yay! And no, before you ask, I did NOT remember to stamp that little row of candles on the envelope as I was making the card front - I had to go back and do them after, sigh. Still, I love how it came out! A Fitting Occasion & Perfect Pennants stamp sets; Whisper White, Real Red, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise & Rich Razzleberry CS & Inks; 1/8" Taffeta in Real Red; Basic Jewel Rhinestones; 1" Circle Punch; Circles Collection Framelits. I had a bit of a tough time with this week's Merry Monday #95 - Use An Animal - I don't have very many Christmas animals that are current! So, I still have half a mind to go pull out my "Sandy Claws," or Dasher, or put a hat on a trusty chicken, BUT, For The Birds is still current - figured I'd give the little skater one last ride! I also figured I hadn't used my Circle Card Thinlets in way too long either - time for a flip card! I played with more of the accent pieces from that set this time, too, and made a happy discovery: the star in the Circle Card Thinlets set layers perfectly with the Merry Mini Punch star! I am ALL about layers, I'll have to think how else to use this little trick, and try layering more of those little pieces in new places! For The Birds stamp set; Season of Style DSP; Silver Glimmer Specialty DSP; Circle Card Thinlets; Circles Collection Framelits; Merry Mini Punch-Star; Black Staz-On; Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive & Crumb Cake Inks; Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon. Oh wow, I have had so much fun making the sample of the Burlap & Blooms Wreath Kit that we planned on for our February class - you guys are going to love it! Super easy, without being TOO easy, if you know what I mean! I tried to stick to the basic kit mostly, for our sample, but I did slip a little, with a few extras already (mostly the bird and some butterflies, and well, ok, a couple spiral flowers so we can start practicing those for our March class, but that's IT!) , and I have lots of ideas for more, that will be available for you here to choose from! I'm so excited for you to make this project! So, our official class announcement is a bit early, because I'm going to a special treat of fancy taiko drumming on our usual date, sorry, so, class is announced for Thursday, February 27th, 630 pm, chez Heroldt, yummy treats and snacks waiting for you, of course! All materials and kits provided for you for $20, but you'll want to bring a bone folder and your hot glue gun for sure, if you have one. What a sweet layout this week at Paper Craft Crew #80! I couldn't help but think "flowers" when I saw the shapes we had to play with - but not TOO big! My poor dahlia didn't fit, sob... Then I realized how long it had been since Secret Garden came out to play... Once I thought I was done, I felt like I still needed a little something, and a few minutes later, I had gone crazy with the bling! I hope I haven't gone too over-rhinestone-itis here! Hope you have time to join the crew this week - I can't wait to see what you bring! Secret Garden & A Dozen Thoughts stamp sets; Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana & Pistachio Pudding CS; Versamark & Pistachio Pudding(on the envelope!) Inks; White Embossing Powder; Secret Garden Framelits; Pretty Print Embossing Folder; Boutique Details In Color Embellishments. Time for more love in the Pumpkin Patch with My Pumpkin Challenge #214! For this week, I wanted to add more outside elements, and pick up past Pumpkins, too! I still go back to the "seriously" phrase - it can go with almost anything! I also decided to play with the kit ingredients a bit more as well - I love to cut up the cardstock they give us to use in different layers - this month's was VERY substantial - I'm actually slightly worried about it coming away from the card base - green glue rules! I was also a sponging monkey today, too - got a new pack of the sponge daubers, and totally had to break them in, lol... So is there love in your Pumpkin Patch? Show us! Paper Pumpkin-Love Notes & Seriously; plus, Coastal Cabana & Crumb Cake CS; Basic Black & Calypso Coral Inks; Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit; Word Bubbles Framelits; Small Heart & Corner Rounder Punches; Large Paper Doily Sizzlet. When I saw this week's Nacho Average Challenge #75, I knew I was going to stray a bit - look at all those long rectangles! No WAY! My middle name is Rogue, of course! Now I did spring for this year's new Easter set - looked like a feast for a coloring fool like me, so it was a shoe-in! Today I got to get those marker urges out - is there anything more spring-ey in the world than coloring in your Easter eggs? Nope! Since I kept coming back to the Retro Fresh Washi Tape, I let that set the color scheme as well... Eggstra Spectacular stamp set; Very Vanilla, Baked Brown Sugar, So Saffron & Coastal Cabana CS; So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Coastal Cabana & Baked Brown Sugar Inks; Corner Rounder & Extra Large Oval Punches; Ovals Collection Framelits; Occasions Piercing Template; Arrows Embossing Folder; Retro Fresh Washi Tape. OK, I think I've lost my ability to make a card WITHOUT using the Banner Framelits dies set, lol! They're just perfect for so many cards, like this week's Clean & Simple #278, darn it! For my take on this sketch, I went browsing for circular shapes, of course, and I chose this stamp set because I have a sinking feeling that it might not make this year's cut when retirement time sneaks back up on us! On my banner element, I stamped off that doily with Pistachio Pudding first, but all the rest of the doilies are full-strength. I'm also getting in to sneaking in Candy Dots that aren't the actual ink color - but they seem so close, I think I can get away with it! Delicate Doilies & Lots of Thanks stamp sets; Sweet Sorbet DSP; Whisper White & Pear Pizzazz CS; Pear Pizzazz, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay & Pistachio Pudding Inks; Banners Framelit Dies; 1 5/8" & 1 3/8" Circle Punches; Subtles Candy Dots in Pear Pizzazz & Pool Party. OK, it's pretty cool that this week's Retro Sketch #100 (what a milestone!) coincides with the 2014 return of Fab Friday #34! Perfect chance to combine sketches! The Retro layout steered me towards our awesome new Banner Framelits, so I also gravitated towards the Perfect Pennants set, that goes so well with them. I had so much fun with these colors - one of my fave combos! I'm embarrassed to admit that I've been sitting on this Lace Tape for over a year, I decided now was the time! SO easy to use - kind of like a delicate vinyl, making it much easier to handle than I thought it would be... I'll totally be using this again soon! Perfect Pennants, Hardwood & Short & Sweet (retired-for the little cupcake!) stamp sets; Whisper White, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake & Real Red CS & Inks; Delicate Details Lace Tape; Banners Framelits; 1/2" Circle Punch; In Color Boutique Details Embellishments; Brights Candy Dots in Real Red. It's so funny that this week's Merry Monday #94 challenge is to use stockings on our cards - I was just taking a walk down memory lane and looking at a Stocking Die Swap my upline did with us a couple years ago! I remember thinking how I wanted to go back and make a card with that die, lol. Looks like this is my chance! I've had a lot of fun matching up the die with this last year's Holiday DSP, Season of Style. Those candy cane stripes are pretty irresistible! I added some of my hoarded goodies, as well - this is a pretty basic rendition of how to make the die into a card, but it's so cheery, I just love it! I do wish that the Encore Silver ink photographed better - I sponged some silver touches on the embossed areas that look very nice in person! Bigz L Holiday Stocking Die; Season of Style DSP; Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler & Old Olive CS; Expressions Thinlets Dies; Little Leaves Sizzlet; Snow Burst Embossing Folder; Encore Silver Ink; Frosted Finishes Embellishments. |
