More wide open space to show off pretty DSP - this time I pulled out my shimmery Frosted Floral - love the washes of color in this one! The sketch called for a nice wide border as well, so I had some fun with the coordinating colors today. It also seemed like a good chance to try out my new God Verses 2 from Our Daily Bread (shhh!) This quote from Psalm 57 is a good one for me, as it feels like there have been so many losses for our family to kick off the new year - solace in prayer is getting me through...  So excited to get back to Christmas with this week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown January sketch! It looks just like a present! I decided this sketch left a nice open field for showing off some pretty paper - and I still have a few scraps of my beloved Under the Mistletoe DSP - LOVED the plaids in this pack! To keep it a little calmer, I added strips of solid Real Red CS for my "ribbon," and finished with some details from Alpine Adventure - love the curvy sentiment from this set, too! For today's card I went hunting for something I haven't inked in a while - Sea of Textures "reached out" and grabbed me right away, lol. Guess I just really wanted to stamp an octopus! I had some fun playing with a few details - there's so much in the Under the Sea framelits that go with that I've never tried! A little touch of seaweed seems just right down in that corner. At the last second, I realized that my retired Dapper Denim glitter enamel dots take on a green-ish look when placed over something with Tranquil Tide in it - score! I chose some scraps of my two fave DSPs, and then layered on a column of solid Granny Apple Green so I wasn't TOO bold, lol. Those colors really reminded me of the gorgeous Broadway suite - all I needed to do was swap out Lovely Lipstick with Melon Mambo and I was all set! I ended up moving around some of the sketch elements, lol, typical! I'm still happy with how it looks though - that marquee is so fun to play with! I dressed it up with some silver pearls, and even added some balloons - I hadn't used those before! I'd say this fits the throwback bill! Such a fun sketch this week at Global Design Project #170 - so excited to play along! I decided today to break in another new Spring set - Butterfly Gala! I've actually grown a bit stamp-shy with butterfly sets the last few years - we've had so many, I try not to get caught unless there's a major advance in the set design - which there totally IS for this one! To start, there's a lovely punch to go with, that punches the two sizes at the same time. Then, the stamp set has FOUR styles of butterfly pairs, with multiple two-step stamping coloring options - it's amazing and SO versatile! And of course, the sentiments are super sweet with an eclectic font. So, yes, a new butterfly set managed to tick all the boxes for me - I think it will for you, too! I haven't been here long so this is a great chance - and I knew as soon as I saw 101 Dalmatians that was the one! BECAUSE, of course, this is my chance to show off the new Happy Tails bundle, a sweet doggy collection to go with our Nine Lives kitty! It even has a builder punch to go with, too! One of the doggie accessory stamps is even a set of dalmatian spots, so that was pretty much a done deal right there, lol.
