Queen Elizabeth's Shoes

11-3-04:  The shoes from The Tudor Shoppe finally arrived a few weeks ago, and I'm so relieved to not have to explore other options.  As you can see from the picture below, the shoes appear a fair bit different from those pictured on their website, but I'm still pleased with them.   I suspect they had to explore a new vendor for these or something.  Anyway, I think the darker color is actually a better match for our fabrics.  The toe divot isn't as emphasized either, but they do fit quite well.  I'm glad I got a slightly larger size than I normally wear, I suspect that I won't be able to sit down so much in this outfit, which means my feet will want to swell.   I don't know how much they show, but I now wear these to all the fittings so SG can get the skirt lengths and posture-related issues just right.  So this is one item down, with no pain.

9-9-04:  I've pulled a few crops of Elizabeth's shoes from the artwork, as you can see below.  They seem to be simple flat slippers, and the first example shows some cutwork and beadwork.

For my own shoes, I've decided to take the easy way first if I can.  I have ordered these divit-toed slippers from The Tudor Shoppe.  Unfortunately, I ordered them in mid-July, and they're still on backorder.  I have til December, but still, I'll have to make a call soon, so I don't get caught short.  If I have to, I could always get some plain flat satin slippers and have them dyed in some color to match the gown, and that may not take so long.  I'll hold that plan in reserve.  I could decorate by hand if I have time.
