Elizabethan Accessories for A Suitable Gown for Her Majesty
In these pages, I will document the accessories that I accumulate and create for my friend Saragrace's A Suitable Gown for Her Majesty, which is based in style on the "Ditchley Portrait," as seen above. This gown is being constructed for me to wear to the opening of Elizabeth I: Ruler and Legend, a Newberry Library exhibit coming to the Scottsdale Public Library in December 2004. We're talking about having a "dressing the queen" event, similar to the one held at Hampton Court Palace last year, though nothing could approach that fabulous setting.
The list of items to be assembled will probably continue to evolve, but there are several we already know we need for sure! See below for specifics. Ambitious, huh? Also below is a list of various resources I used for images and info. I don't plan on storing much source imaging here when I don't have to!
